i like inline reels. that is all i run now. i love being able to drop tiny jigs just by clicking the button. i did carbon fiber drag upgrades on all my eagle claws and it made a huge difference. but my favorite is by far my Freefall. super smooth drop and drag. i honestly feel that the inlines make a difference in the bite. however i am fishing trout (Brooke, rainbows, splake, cutts, browns, tigers) and not walleye or panfish so i dont know how big of a difference it makes with them species. there is my 2 cents worth

I remember a few back, people raving about the “Black Betty” ice reel. Anybody try/own them ? Haven’t seen or heard a thing about them in years.

I bought the black betty freefall last year and love in on my 32″ Precision. Now just to decide whether I want the ghost or the original to put on my new fusion!

I don’t want to bash, but personally, I’m a little bummed I pre-ordered a “custom” rod that I’m waiting 4+ weeks for when I could now walk into the Cabela’s 20 min from me and pick one off the shelf…today

    Where’s the “custom” in that?

    http://www.cabelas.com/product/TUNED-UP-CUSTOMS-FUSION-CORK-ICE-ROD/2594631.uts?slotId=0

are these in store?? i was under the impression that cabelas was doing online only with the custom rods??

TUCR Custom line and Inferno are in stock, on the shelves at Cabelas in Rogers.

aww ok that makes sense. i was looking on their website to see if either of the Utah stores had them. hopefully soon!

Makes Sense, so they could get the price point down on the Ghost.

i have a freefall ghost coming next month. i will compare it to my original and post some feedback on it. i wont be able to field test it until end of november first of december but i will give some initial feedback

Perfect. I’m sure they’re both great reels. I was just curious. I’m still using the original 6061’s. Been working great for years

i have wanted to try a 6061 out but at the price they are and the fact that i love the freefall function i find myself saying ill just spend the extra money lol

Actually the original has an airfoil carbon frame and the ghost is composite. The original also has trick shop compatible parts and a usa carbon drag system. The ghost is not trick shop compatible and has an oiled felt drag. The original has an aluminum spool and the ghost has a composite

I’ve got the Free Fall Ghost on back order at Cabela’s. It will pair nicely with my Ace Custom rods Naked noodle for a top end pannie set up!

the ghost is pretty sweet looking. im really just wanting to test out the drag compared to the original. the ghost has a disk system drag where the original has a USA carbon drag on it. we ordered both at my store so i will play with both before i buy lol

i ordered mine for the purpose of having a nice perch rod and for that late season trout bite where they get really really picky and want teeny tiny bates. it kinda hits that spot in between my precision and bullwhip. i love my bullwhip but it just doesnt have the feel that this rod has i hope!! this friday marks week 4 since ordering my FUSION so i hope that means i see it in person next week sometime )

i bought one and loved it! im really trying to decide whether to buy another original freefall or to buy the new freefall ghost at a much cheaper price for my new TUCR FUSION that is coming sometime next week.(I HOPE) but definately am a big fan. also gonna replace my cheap eagle claw with the new “decent” inline reel from one 3 tackle. seems like a good inline for that $35 price point. but i will definately say that the freefall is my favorite reel i have used. really smooth drag and i havent had any problems with my and have fished it anywhere from 5′ to 80+’. i was an over the handle holder until i got this reel and now i am a converted pistol gripper. it just feels right with this reel lol

I THINK THE REASON FOR THE REMOVAL OF THEM IS THE FACT THAT RAPALA IS LAUNCHING A NEW LITHIUM SHUTTLE THIS UPCOMING SEASON. 40 HOUR RUN TIME, FITS IN A 5G BUCKET, YA JUST TAKE UR LX DISPLAY OFF AND MOUNT ON THE SHUTTLE. VERY EXCITED FOR MINE TO SHOW UP WHEN MY ICE SHIPMENT SHOWS UP

The handle on the new shuttle is adjustable front to back. It’ll allow a variety of center of masses to be handled level.

How’d you get your hands on that?!

    my guess is prostaff/product testing

i guess one of my biggest questions is if they both have the same sz poles, they are both full thermal, basically the same size, why is the clam weigh 7 pounds heavier?? that is a pretty significant weight difference

looking online i can get the resort or the six-pack 1660 mag thermal for the same price, 399.99. so im just trying to decide. between the 2. i have seen the clam in person but havent found a store with the otter in stock anywhere close to me

I will never touch gas again. I fish high elevation (9000+) lakes and gas augers struggle way too much at that elevation even when properly tuned. I started out with a strikemaster electra lazer and it was better than gas but still just ok. Sold it and bought a lithium lazer last season and am super convinced!!! I drilled over 50 holes in 2′ of ice and still had juice to keep going. Best part is I don’t have to throw my shoulder out pulling on a rope only to have the auger still not start. Electric gets my vote time and time again. Havent messed with ions personally but watch g various youtube videos the lithium lazer beats the ion in cutting speed
