I love my Elliot’s. Very nice rod.

Ended up getting the Walleye Snare. It is noticeably heavier than the Panfish Snare as you would expect, but I do think it will work for <em class=”ido-tag-em”>crappies and <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>perch fairly well, just have to watch it closer as the transistion to a heavier backbone will provide more resistance to the fish.
Good choice. Far more flexible in use.
Curious if anyone has the the Walleye Snare and the Panfish Snare if they could tell me the difference? I have the <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>Panfish Snare and its great for deadsticking crappies and perch, but Im curious if the <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>walleye snare is just as sensitive but with more backbone being the main difference?
Asking because I have a winter trip to Kenora on Lake of the Woods and I dont want to get a deadstick rod that is too heavy to use locally for <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>crappies and perch
I have both. The panfish snare is too light imo for perch. Bluegill/ crappie and even then, it’s really light. Go with the walleye snare, you can use it for panfish just fine. I use it when I hit Lotw with no issues, short of a really big pike or laker hitting you.
They do work slowdowns. One vehicle every 5 min or so. They also won’t collect tax or duties. They are essential workers so they can’t walk off the job.

How much if at all has the fishing declined up there after the word got out?Word got out a long time ago. My first trip up there was over 20 years ago now.
Has fishing declined some? Yes but still lots of big fish to be had.
I’d strongly disagree with you! In a friendly way. The commercial quota is still putting out millions of pounds a year, no more keeping one over, this past winter it was hard to get a limit of 4, lots of overs. The zebras have really cleaned up the water, so it’s a bit more challenging, but this season was really good.
Wife and I are starting to really plan our winnipeg trip. It’ll be our 20 year anniversary. Looking to do a 2 or 3 day guided ice trip up there, but also looking to stay somewhere nice. She is all in foe the ice fishing, but said at the end of the day she wants a nice bed, nice restaurant etc. So, just looking for recommendations on guide and lodging. Don’t care about catching tons of fish, this is a big fish goal trip.
There are a couple outfitters that have licensed ice castles on the ice now, gaune fishing and kannuk outfitters. Kris gaune is an excellent guide as well. My top choice would be guided by bruin outfitters. Matt Cornell is a consumate professional with a proven history of putting people on big fish. If the castle is a no go for your wife, your lodging options are south beach casino, or the canalta hotel in Selkirk. Canalta gives you the option of hitting either side of the lake, south beach is on the east side. Need any more info, feel free to pm me, I live up here.
I use these. Micro spikes I don’t like. These have great traction, easy on and off when driving or getting on the atv.
You’re on the right track. Here in Manitoba, we are barbless. If you just do a lift set, the fish is just holding the lure. As soon as it opens its mouth and head shakes, it spits. Haat rods are way too soft to get a good hook set. I’ve seen them double over on greenbacks, then gone. Good hookset and sharp hooks are key.
This is the link for the duty free store in baudette. Call and confirm they will be open when you’re planning on crossing.
Here’s how it works… duty free is set up after the last turn in the us, meaning duty free is set up after us customs. This way if you buy it and go back yo the states, you have to pay tax on it. It’s way cheaper, but items can be limited.

All the tents are made by a couple companies in china. Manufacturers set what price point they want to pay per unit, and the company’s make them according to the specs. Better tents cost more, doesn’t mean companies like otter, clam and Eskimo don’t cheap out to make more profit per unit. Eskimo seems to have the most consistent product.
Could be the deadman switch. On my g2, you really have to hold down the switch hard or it cuts out.
Cam which model blue tiger do you use the storm?
Advantage plus.
Been driving for 24 years. Gave up on blue parrot. Check out blue tiger. You can find them at flying j. Bought the middle model, goes a month on one charge, dropped several times and no issues as it’s mil-spec, great sound. Bought one 6 years ago, still use it daily with zero issues.
Chinses junk, only 68% rating tells you that
All the lithiums are made in china. These are probably made with recycled cells like the marcums.
So much misinformation given in this thread, it’s not even worth commenting about. As I’ve said before, if anyone has anything on their record that converts to a felony here in Canada like a dui, spend the 50 bucks and apply for a nexus card. Both countries review your file and criminal history, and both have to accept you to be allowed into the trusted traveller program. If you get rejected, then you need to speak to a lawyer that specializes in border issues.
Boot dryer. Get a peet, and use it every time you wear your boots. Dry boots and liners equals warm feet.
Lithiums don’t have more power, you get more of the useable ah out of lithium than sla. I distribute amped in Canada, in a 55ah, you’re getting pretty much 90 percent use of the ah at 100 percent, unlike sla which taper off to 60,50,40 and your power level drops. More expensive up front, I sell a lot of them to yak guys up here. Lithium would be a solid choice for you.
Hard to believe you need auger extensions on Lake Winnipeg already…
Don’t get carried away… lol.
Make sure everyone in your group can cross, I see groups turned back because one guy forgot he had a dui… I’d use your credit card, grab a couple hundred in cdn from your bank, the rates will be better. Get 20’s, smaller stores may not be able to break large bills. If any minors, make sure you have permission slips signed by both parents with contact numbers.
Legal here in canada. The sky hasn’t fallen, and scenes from the movie purge haven’t happened. Legalize it, you will be fine.
There is on average 2-300 sitting in pembina at any given time. They are held for 30 days, several car carriers a week are there picking up loads of vehicles that get released. As mentioned the exchange benefits dealers, the warranty thing I don’t believe, I think it’s a tactic to get folks to buy in their country. I’m Canadian, had truck issues in Duluth. Dealer was awesome and issues were covered by gm canada with no issue.

Have two, haven’t used them yet. Seem to have a great action. But no on ice use yet. Thanks, does the tip seem pretty light?
I bought a 38 and a 40. Doesn’t seem too light on those, on the 32 it did.

I sell amped batteries in canada. Amped and dakota both use virgin cells. The cheaper marcum batteries used recycled lithium cells from medical equipment. That’s why some work and some don’t. I have had the odd amped go bad, but not many. There’s a reason Scheels blew out the 10ah marcums for 50 bucks.
I’d call Pete’s pro tackle in the Pas. Great store and always helpful.
