Smitty SLed and put the winch in the back of your truck, run cables up to battery.

Have remote switch at back of truck to winch in the sled

use aluminum ramp that is light, find a fabricator in your area that could make a custom ramp for your truck.

Thanks guys, it does light up the shack pretty good. We walked in with our headlights and once we turned on the light bar it was like daylight inside.

Thought about this on the way home today, why not put a ski rack on your rig. That way you could just put the smitty on the roof and lock it down with ski rack. I am an old down hill skier and have old ski rack that I might give this a try, no need to tear down.

Also thinking HDPE for the runners might be an option instead of ski’s, not sure but you could make the complete unit from HDPE, it would last a lifetime.

Good info thanks, we fished in 10′ of water Saturday, today we fished pretty much the same. Set-up in almost the exact same spot but had to move a few feet because of slush.

Did not try moving to shallow water but did move once and we caught a few but depth was similar

I thought today would be lights out since we got up super early and got set-up before sunrise

    Barometer reading today 30.37

We fished Saturday and Sunday this weekend, Saturday am was crazy with fish. Sunny sky and cold temps.

Today was overcast warmer temps, got my son out of bed super early, drove 1 1/2 hours to exact same spot and the vexilar was empty. We did catch a few but totally different outcome.

I am just learning this sport so wanted to chime in on our results this weekend. I am going to see if I can look up both days of barometric pressure.

Good thread, I could not find the cooling rack at Fleet Farm. I did find a coleman fish rack for $8. Took it apart and use one piece to make a hook, drill a small hole in the back for the hook. Otherwise it just slipped right in and I needed the hook to keep it from falling out forward.

Cooked hot dogs today, my son thinks there will be a meal at each outing

    thanks for info

Thanks guys for the replies, I have the Yukon with the insulated top. Could not afford the all thermal unit. I fish with my son who caught a really nice crappie last year and it got us hooked. We fished with a borrowed hut last year where we sat on buckets but had a blast.

I will look at the coat hangers also

Probably a stupid question but I am about to spend $50 on a runner kit for the Clam Yukon, this looks better than a runner kit.

Is there a plan for this or just wing it
