i’ve never tried to rattle or grunt opening morning but i think i am gonna try it this year…the bucks in my area seem to be in the final stages of the rut and think i may have success spraying a little buck bomb and rattling away.
put that deer out of misery and let the sheriffs department know about the situation. i’m sure they will understand why you did it your own way. nothing should have to suffer waiting for the sheriff to come out and shoot it.
i haven’t shot anything but 870’s all my life. never had any problems with them and are very durable. dropped it in the swamp while duck hunting and it shot every shell i put through it that day.
proshedhunter, i agree 100%. i truly believe deer take cover in the unhunted timber around us. earn-a-buck wasn’t the worst thing that could happen, alot of people couldn’t even shoot a doe let alone an antlered deer which made alot of bucks bigger.
i agree 100% with Les! like i said, i will let the smaller bucks go until the end of the season if i haven’t filled my tag. i agree with iberg30 to shoot the bucks with the bad genes but to still shoot does in order to keep a good doe to buck ratio.
nice post proshedhunter! i am strongly against quality deer managenent. i mean it would be nice to shoot that big wall hanger but if your gonna wait around and wait for that big one to walk by what are you gonna feed the household with until you do? sure i don’t shoot the little basket racks if i don’t have to, but i need to fill my freezer. for all you big buck hunters out there, i have yet to find a recipe that calls for antlers. just my opinion.
this guy did not give you permission to post his picture on here he did not even send it to you. i am sitting right next to him and he said he did not give you permission.
I have a rod case that I picked up from Gander Mountain a few years ago and love it. I can hold 2 poles easily and it has a couple of pockets that I store my tackle boxes in. It also has a PVC tube to keep the rods from getting broken. As for the springs on the rods I take them out while still on the line and set it into the eyes of the pole. My tiptop eye and second eye are pretty close together so it fits well, and no bending.
