The May tournament could be huge money. The walleye season was closed for the majority of the walleye worshipping states so this was largely a Canadian and Rainy River tournament with most fish coming thru the ice. Doubt I’ll be on any walleye water this May but will totally participate if I am. As if I need any more motivation to fish. Wiebe is tha best!
You must have me confused with someone else, my brother died over 20 years ago.
If maybe you mean something else, please don’t be shy and explain.
Perhaps an obscure reference-just trying to say we have a lot in common-when it comes to our fishing cockpit preferences;) Cheers
Hey, when I’m sitting in my comfy seat with my motor tiller within reach along with my electronics a finger touch away and my I-pilot remote around my neck…a couple fishing poles within reach, and most importantly my cooler right there, I am in my command module
Some day I will upgrade the bow mount trolling motor to one of those self raising and deploying Ulterra trolling motors on my luxurious Jon boat.
Brother?!?
She’s in St. Paul with Health Partners/Regions. Thought maybe there was a chance you guys work together when you said what you did.
I’m a physician assistant with the hospital medicine team at Regions (going on 11 years). The chances that I don’t know and interact with your wife are slim B-man.
Mahtofire-at which hospital do you tele tech?

First and foremost, make sure you are actually seeing a doc and not a NP or alike (sorry if someone one here is in the role).
I’m sorry you have and share this opinion Bob. I’m not going to change your experiences by posting on a fishing forum but hope others/readers keep an open mind.
As a physician assistant I like to say I know what I know, and I know what I don’t know. When I don’t have the answer I’m talking with my physician colleagues and the patient benefits from that extra set of eyes/ears.
Practicing (yes) medicine is hard…whether you’re a PA, RN, CNS, NP, med student, intern, resident, fellow, physician, surgeon or specialist. Patients don’t always (or even often) “read the textbook.”
As in any profession there are good providers and there may be a few bad ones. Thanks to those who already spoke up in defense of our majority during this thread. My PA/NP colleagues are some of the most dedicated, capable, caring providers I know.
You’ve all touched on some big issues with healthcare-far more than I dare get into.
fishthumper-I wish your family health!

I’m not a doctor. You can call me Rich.
Whoa! I’d be impressed even if you used a steel cable to pull that beast in.

I worked in the aquarium trade for too long and have a pretty good grasp on chemistry and physiology from college and medical practice so I think im qualified to address this.
some municipalities/treatment facilities (including Mpls and I suspect StPaul) use chloramines (chlorine bound with ammonia) which are particularly toxic to fish-be they tropical, native or bait. some of the aquarium products are less effective detoxifying chloramines as opposed to the ubiquitous chlorine, and/or require a much higher dose. I suspect that is what’s at play here. Was the product called stress coat?-that would explain the big bubbles
tap water will off gas (chlorine) if left to sit for a few days. it also stabilizes the ph, and equilibrates temperature if the new water is in the same room/space as the bait tank. aerating water probably expedites this. fish are susceptible to shock if temp or ph are dramatically different. but even smaller differences are a stress on their systems. disease is possible but typically not so swift in fish. good water quality is probably the single most important step to preventing disease.
keeping temps low increases the oxygen carrying capacity of water which is why minnows seem to last so much better in winter/when kept cold.
lower densities of fish (or larger volumes of water) in a given vessel also help by diluting waste. think “the solution to pollution is dilution”
also cloudy water is typically a sign of bacterial bloom. not pathogenic bacteria but denitrifying bacteria which help to detoxify ammonia and nitrite. they bloom when the toxin levels get high. I would always recommend a water change when the water gets cloudy-just make sure its detoxified one way or another, same temp and ideally close in ph (realizing not many are interested in testing this for their bait). a bait tank which is run constantly will over the course of ~1 month develop a “biological filter” of good denitrifying bacteria that help to maintain water quality. the bacteria just need surfaces to adhere to (filter media, gravel but they’ll also form a film on bucket/tank walls).

Will teach you how to fly fish the rush in exchange for info on northeast metro walleyes:) I’ve got all the gear a guy could need and tight lips;)
Not to say you won’t have some success on spinning tackle but I bet you’ll have more on the fly

FWIW I’m a medical provider down at Regions-not a creep;)
Dutch was a huge help when we took our first trip last year. We used the Ash River Entry and stayed around Junction Bay. It was perfect! We had site that was kinda wind protected with a short dock. We took a small Honda generator to charge the trolling motor. Feel free to pm me with ?s.
Cheers

awesome gesture Will and Hunter! I almost created an “entry” but realized how many great opportunities I already have thanks to family and generous friends. My 4 year old (3 at the time) daughter spent a night on the ice last year catching crappies and walleyes and I look forward to many more of those nights together! Tight lines to the winner and tighter lines to the donors;)
if you “LIVE to take off work” why were you in such a hurry to get to work on the morning in question? :devilemoji:
sorry-I’m not a lawyer nor am I particularly sympathetic to your plight.
Obviously I don’t think you were out to mow down a kid either.
In my limited experiences with “the law” contrition goes along way. And I don’t think you’re gonna win this argument. I wonder if you could get charged with court fees on top of the original fine (if eventually issued)?
The green line (light rail) will take you from the bank to within about 6 blocks of rivercentre.
zip-lining (I know there is one down by Henderson/belle plain and may be others)

I agree 100amp seemed a little excessive but that’s what the electrician suggested. That or a 12/2 20amp wire for “just a couple low draw outlets”. In planning for long-term use and upgrades, that seemed the wrong way to go right now.The building is about 40-50 yards from our house. I hear you on sweat equity and wife equity. We have 2 young kids so finding a weekend to get it done without being interrupted is a major challenge.
In your situation I would probably go with the 100amp panel too-gives you lots of options down the road. The only reason I saved money sticking with the 40a subpanel is that I was gifted all the wire I needed and would have spent a fair bit more for wire capable of carrying 100a. And my main panel is only 100a;) Guessing you might have 200a?
The 2500 isn’t sounding too bad to me either. In the process of trenching I didn’t hit many roots but uncovered a concrete graveyard with pieces of old sidewalk, slab and stairs-some of the pieces weighed hundred of pounds. I had to hand dig about 50′ of the 150′ run and rented a jackhammer to break up some of the big pieces. It was ridiculous! I wonder what the garage builder would have done had I let them handle the electrical in the first place. Guessing I would have been asked to throw in more money for unexpected trouble digging the trench.
I burn a woodstove most fall and winter nights mostly for recreation and it gives the furnace a little rest. I scavenge neighborhood trees and don’t go through a cord a year. Agree with previous poster. I run a 50cc Husky (545 to be exact) with a 16″ bar. I love that little thing!
How far is the outbuilding from the house/existing power? Do you need 100amp service out there (of course it would be nice if you plan to make it a big workshop)? I’m not an electrician and didn’t need 100amp service but ran my own line to a new garage (~150′ away from house). Pulled permit, trenched, pulled wire, installed a 40amp subpanel and 8 arc fault/gfci protected circuits thru conduit. I had a connection for bulk heavy gauge wire and trencher which saved me a bunch of money but guessing I still spent $750 (about half on the fancy dancy breakers!). But man I spent a lot of time doing it. And burned a lot of equity with the wife! It may not have been a fiscally sound decision to diy (opportunity cost) but I still don’t regret it. BTW my garage is lit up like a Christmas tree with LEDs, has two electric overhead door openers and I have chargers and home owner/hobbyist power tools running all the time and doubt I’ve come close to exceeding capacity.
HTH in some way.
I have a 14′ Crestliner Canadian (similar hull to the fishhawk IIRC) and have a 55# 12V bow motorguide xi5 and it pulls my boat 2.5+ mph no problem. never needed more to maintain spot lock even in big wind. and it runs forever with a group 24 AGM battery.
NO reason for people to put money before honor.
THIS^^
I’ve probably sold hundreds of items through clist and have NEVER been stuck with the item-even when the first guy/girl is flakey and no shows. There is always another buyer. And I can’t say its cost me any money-just a little time. For big dollar items or when I’m driving to meet a buyer (and investing more of my time) I insist on a phone number-a simple conversation will often tell you if someone is serious or not. Just throwing this out there because I’m saddened to see so many forum members who’ve clearly been burned in the past and who have “policies” that I’d be reluctant to deal with in the future.
I say carve the cottonwood into a giant middle finger and deliver it to the dbag who sold the boat out from under you
That’s a total d-bag move-sorry nhamm. I hope you got a chance to give him an earful or told him how much money he left on the table so he could share in the suffering. Or at least kept his addresses for a future prank. But I commend you if you took the moral high road. If the guy had this much class you never know what skeletons there may have been in this boat’s closet-perhaps this is a blessing in disguise.
We were in western Namakan and fished the areas around the wolf Pack Islands, Junction, Hoist and Moose Bays. Most of our fish came around islands and we were fishing shallower than most ~10-14 FOW. That worked for a couple days but big storms Friday into Saturday really slowed things down for us.
We didn’t see any big critters but got a visit from a family of otters-which is always fun!
Good luck to those with upcoming trips!
I had a good experience with the Graco x5 last year-painted my new garage. It’s a 32×24 and the actual spraying took me about 3 hours? Way more time in prep/masking. I borrowed the unit from my uncle who had not done a great job maintaining it so the filters were clogged and valve in the sprayer handle needed replacing. I think the key to getting reliable performance is diligent cleaning right when you’re done with use. I cant comment on longevity of the unit but even if it only lasted 60 gallons of paint it would be worth it in my mind (for $250-300). For reference our garage took about 5 gallons to cover.
I’m honestly thinking about buying one to paint our house now. Have a shed and some interior projects that led me to buy a cordless version but the small paint cup would make it impractical for large areas.
One recommendation which I had never done for handpainting (and maybe should have been) is to filter your paint to catch solids.
CJ Spray in Eagan is a great place for knowledgable service/parts.
Hope this helps!
I wonder if there is an accessory kill switch installed to prevent things from being left on or voltage leak? Or bad fuses? Or possibly power cable to fuse panel wasn’t properly reinstalled?
