I figured out I don’t care for the lodge style shanty’s, too much of a hassle to set-up and take down. I found a used Eskimo Sierra thermal that I used last year and now the Otter will set in the shed until somebody wants to buy it.

I’ve been through several different cases trying to find the one I like. I agree with others on here the Eskimo case is the best by far the best IMO. Good quality with storage space for lure boxes and other stuff, but the ease of storing your rods securely is what makes it a great case.

Just got back from there. First day bright pink spoon worked well but got nothing but sauger. Switched to a Northland Glo Shot spoon in gold and caught some nice walleye.

One of the best days of walleye fishing I’ve had came with a gold glow shot with red glow sticks.

That’s the one I was using. Caught some nice fish including a 23″ and a 25″

Got this reel last season and it’s definitely my best spinning reel.

I’ve been happy with these. Warm, comfortable, good traction.

How long have you had these? Looking for a good pair of warm slip on boots that my ice bibs will fit over. I heard their quality has gone down in recent years.

I’m on my 3rd season with these boots. So far, the quality has been fine, but I don’t have a ton of miles on them. Use them pretty much only for <em class=”ido-tag-em”>ice fishing 1 or 2 times a week and the occasional cold deer stand sit. On another note, I went with a size larger than my normal boot size, which allows for fairly thick merino wool sock. Even with a thick sock, I have room to spare. I think this helps a lot with allowing any perspiration to escape.

Ok, thanks for the info. I think I will find a place to try a pair of these on.

The cheaper ozark trail one is the same as the coleman from above has a rain fly but no foot print.
We had to bail on a river camp this summer because of a wicked thunderstorm that rolled in. We left the tent standing to get the kids back to the truck because it was a 6 mile boat ride. It rained and hailed. I expected the worst the next day.
To my surprise it was dry as could be inside. Pretty impressive for 100 bucks or what ever it was. Did just as well as my kelty and msr would have

The coleman has a built in rainfly. We tested that feature many times in the 3 years we used it on ragbrai.

“This camping tent is designed with the WeatherTec system that features patented welded floors and inverted seams to help ensure you stay dry if it starts to rain. An integrated vented rainfly offers added protection from the rain and improves airflow without the need for extra assembly.”

Like a couple people have mentioned, if you’re not hiking to your camping area get a pop up tent and don’t even think about messing with those silly poles. I watch people struggle putting those light weight tents up and down while sitting in my pop up that took about 60 seconds to erect. This is a nice size if it rains you can store gear inside.

Reminds me of Dr Fauci, who hasn’t been right about anything and only wears a mask when on camera.

Another vote for Ceymars. The reels is pretty solid. I like it because the handle is better for ice honestly.

When will you be getting more Ceymars back in stock?

Ice Units are 2d only, no di or si

I’ve had a Helix 5 DI/GPS on the ice for 3 years now…great on battery life, works excellent and I’ve never had interference I couldn’t fish through. I’ll likely get a 7 chirp ice next year
    [/quot

That was one of the things I was looking at. I’m not sure I want to switch things back and forth so I might just have to buy both units and forget it. grin

I’m thinking on getting the Helix 7 for ice fishing and open water. Does anybody have any advice on which way to go? Buy the ice unit and then mount on the boat or buy the open water unit and change transducers for ice? I would like to have the new chirp and DI and SI.

buy the ice kit and all you will need for summer is the ducer and power cord.

I have the helix 7 and used it this wknd for the first time. I got a full 12 hours on it running it all day on 50% power.

I fished next to an flx28 and had some interference but once I used the IR settings it was perfect.

it seems like they have fixed all the kinks from the first gen helix 5 I had the first year they came out.

This unit is the bees knees compared to my buddies flx28 watching him stare at his phone for the navionics and me being able to use my lakemaster chip on a 7″ screen. he tried my split screen graph and flasher mode so he could see how much better the sonar works than staring at a dial and think he’ll be getting one next year.

Thanks. That’s the way I was looking at going but was getting confused on what all I needed and which was easier and most cost effective. I think you’re right about having everything you need in one unit, seems like a no brainer.

Patronize your local bait shop or they won’t be there when you need them. Take that internet price with you and they’ll probably match it. They can order anything they don’t have in stock. Give them a chance.

That looks like a great place, might have to stop in there if I’m up that way. Do you fish the reserve or any of the near by lakes?

I don’t know why the Pflueger reel gets such a bad rap.

Yo Yo just back from LOW
Fishing was easy with a reel that could

Had some eyes that were 15 to 19
But my 6925 was lean and mean

Babyed no no just to be clear
It rode up front on the bombardier

So keep your shimanno and be happy
But in my opinion the Pflueger ain’t crappy.. uh huh

Sorry I’m still on vacation…lol Actually the only trouble I had was with the Suffix Ice Magic line. That stuff would try to ice up in a heated shack and coil of the reel. My dead stick had P-Line on it and no problems like normal. I will be sticking with it from now on.

My wife insisted on getting the nicer more expensive boat that had the walk through windshield so she could stay warmer on those cool mornings….uh OK!

Here is another source you can take a look at.

    http://www.dailywire.com/news/7264/5-statistics-you-need-know-about-cops-killing-aaron-bandler

A good quote from the article:

MacDonald also pointed out in her Hillsdale speech that blacks “commit 75 percent of all shootings, 70 percent of all robberies, and 66 percent of all violent crime” in New York City, even though they consist of 23 percent of the city’s population.

Tore my ACL and had some cartilage damage a few years back. Had reconstructive surgery and walked out of the hospital. They don’t like for you to stay off your injury at all in today’s world. Started physical therapy within a couple days and that was the best thing for me. You don’t have anything else to do so might as well do your therapy and it helps to keep the Vicodin bottle full. grin

Thanks guys I appreciate the responses. I will look into those. Does anyone have any case with the removable pieces of foam to custom fit the rod and reels to secure them even tighter in the case? If so which model and o you like that feature? Thanks again everyone and have fun fishing 🎣

You might be thinking of the Plano model 108361. I’m thinking about getting the same case if I can find a deal on it somewhere. $75 is more than I want to spend.
