In addition to the wide gunnels (which adds a ton of storage or (5) 8′ rods) the Trophy also has the “Toe-Holds” in the cockpit which is nice when leaning over to land fish. The Competitor does have a larger bow but I wanted the larger cockpit. The biggest thing that separates Alumacraft from all the rest of the aluminum boats is the AWESOME paint jobs and exterior fit and finish.

I’m “assuming” you have the Seastar hydraulic steering like me (standard with the 250 SHO). Seastar offers a power assist that basically eliminates ANY steering feedback (like power steering in your car). the kit runs about $1800 + installation. If Cabelas would’ve mentioned it when I purchased the boat I would have added it in (what’s $2k additional to $50k when ordering the boat).

Check some of the other recent posts. I got stranded because of a fuel tank venting issue. All fuel lines were collapsed completely. I have a TON of pressure that releases when I open my gas cap. It’s going in for them to look at the cap and the charcoal filter??????

Good luck if you bought from Cabelas. I purchased new 2017 Trophy 205 at Cabelas Hammond, IN that i took delivery of in August of 2016. Alumacraft is starting to get sh#@ty about warranty work at Cabelas.

A “reed switch type sensor” is one suggestion that should fix a good portion of the problem. I had a 2008 Lowe 175 FM and never had fuel gauge issues but i understand the fuel tank design is different. Just strange how Lowe can put a fuel gauge (system) on a $20k boat that works great and my $50K+ Alumacraft has a gauge that’s completely useless.

The floor layout does have a long panel down the center of the boat (assuming that’s the access for the tank).
Cabelas is doing a great job “trying” to support me in every way but Alumacraft is starting to be stubborn because Cabelas doesn’t sell them anymore.
Cheynne (customer service) is a real treat to work with (NOT).
Cabelas sent boat back to manufacturer because one of the stringers broke loose and caused a couple of dimples to protrude out from the inside of the hull (real ugly). So after asking them to put eyes on the paint job BEFORE they shipped it back, it came back with a big clouded smudge where they did the repair. Now they tell me they are no longer doing paint repairs at the manufacturer and have now agreed to pay $5K to have 1/2 of my boat repainted locally. We’ll see how that goes.

2017 with VMAX. A must is the power assist option (not advertised at time of purchase). otherwise I’m getting 56-58mph. What’s awesome about this combo is the hole shot. This thing literally “jumps” up on plane (better be hanging on). you may be stuck with the Evinrude G2 with the recent BRP purchase though.

Own a 2017 Trophy 205. extremely capable for rough water. Lake of the Ozarks 80% and Lake Michigan 20%. This boat is AWESOME (especially with the 250HP VMAX). Only thing I recommend is the power assist steering. Does not come standard on the VMAX.
Just started having tank venting (stranded me with collapsed fuel lines) issues but hopefully an easy fix.
