Maybe you could utilize a Finicky Fooler hole cover underneath some how although I don’t think the plastic line loop attached to the line would fit through the hole so you may have to enlarge it. I use these covers with the Finicky Fooler tip ups and have no issues with holes icing up.

I can’t seem to catch a fish on my finicky fooler, lots of false flags. Any tips or tricks Ron?

I thought I was getting false flags with mine. Turns out they were small perch tripping the flags trying to take down some larger walleye fatheads. I put on a small crappie minnow and caught the culprits (4-5″perch).

When I fish pike I use larger suckers 6-8″ and ordered the shorter trigger arm which works to keep them from tripping the flag. I also move the snap on the flag to the upper hole to keep the flag against that o-ring.

Not sure what you are targeting, but if set up right I don’t experience any false flags and catch alot of fish on them. With any new product there is a bit of a learning curve!

They are a bit bulky, but gravity chairs are nice. If the fishing is slow they are really comfy to nap in! I’ve spent a few nights on the ice and slept in the chair.

I’ve angled my auger at a steep angle and cut a channel in the ice then drill down to where you slightly cut through to let water flow up. Just don’t go too far through the ice where the fish can escape!

Are these only available through their website?

Scheels in Eau Claire, WI has them. I would assume other locations would carry them, but best to contact them to confirm.

I like the 13 Combos. May be a bit more than $40, but close especially if you find them on sale!

Great idea! Got a couple pair of old cross country skis that never get used. Now I have a new project to make use of them!

Bought a couple foolers at the Blaine Show and tried them for the first time this weekend. Ran 2 Foolers and one older Arctic Warrior at the Jaycees.

For the most part they really are the best in class for a rod/reel with flag setup. Pro over the Arctic Warrior is a lack of extra parts needed to attach to a rod. Don’t need the parts, can’t lose the parts. I like this over the iFish Pro as well. Easier to set and more compact to transport. Pretty much a convert over to the Fooler system.

However there is one real drawback. To be as compact for storage it leaves the the end of the flag arm unprotected. Brought two out on saturday and busted one flag transporting it home.

I ordered the 6 gallon bucket and a couple extra flags to have on hand just in case I accidentally broke one. I have yet to break a flag and the bucket with the lid is great for storing and transporting the finicky foolers and hole covers. Also, the taller bucket is nicer to sit on vs a 5 gallon.

I’ve been using 6# and seems to work well. Like all mono though there is memory. Just seems a bit less memory than other brands I’ve used.

    I’m on the fooler train….😁

X2. I just bought two finicky foolers plus 2 of their hole covers for them. Used them this weekend and they worked awesome!! Wish I would have bought them long ago, and yes I have used the ifish pros before. The hole cover and easiness of adjusting the trigger puts them to shame.

X3 on the Finicky Foolers. Great products!

I buy a pack of 12 brown Jersey gloves, the grippy ones, when wet, put on dry pair, been working for me for 50 years. When it’s too dang cold I don’t hole hop alot.

I do the same. Also where them hunting and keep my hands in a hand muff with a disposable hand warmer. For what ever reason I end up with have a dozen left handed gloves with no right handed to match next season and buy another pack.

I’ve been using the finicky foolers since they came out and they are all I use. This tip-up with the hole covers is by far the best system I have come across. They can be set as sensitive as a tip down or crank the tension up enough to keep a 5-6 inch shiner from tripping the flag.

I thought I was experiencing a lot of false flags when I first got them while I was fishing some medium fatheads for walleye. After watching the rod tip for a while I noticed the tip bouncing slightly and the flag would trip, but no fish. So I put on a small crappie minnow and the next time the flag tripped I had a 4 inch perch on the line. The apparent false flags were small perch tripping them.

Is there a trick to setting up for panfish or just put the trigger on the absolute edge of not staying in place. Looking for advice from people that have used in the past.

If you’re looking to target panfish with a rod and reel device you might want to try a Finicky Fooler. It’s the most sensitive device I’ve found and I’ve tried them all.

Once your hot lake burns out from fishing pressure you have to continually look for lakes that are not being pressured and trying lakes you have never fished before.

Open bail devices like ifishpro, ice rigger, and finicky foolers are your best option to fish a rod and reel and be legal in MN. Personally, I prefer setting the hook myself, that’s half the excitement of using a rod and reel. I’ve been using the foolers with their new hole covers. Best system I’ve found yet!

We use a rod and reel on a Finicky Fooler tip-up in place of rattle reels and hook a bell on the flag in the sleeper shack.

Wow, looks like a blast. Those guys pulling them in by hand don’t look like they’re having as much fun.

Got a bunch of rippin raps. Love ’em. Picked up some Z-Vibers recently that have worked very well on walleye and crappie. Similar style bait with different profile.

They are 11″ outside diameter 9″ inside. I use it on an 8″ hole. Should fit a 10″ hole or smaller. Yes, would work on a 6″ hole.

I don’t think the cold effects the fishing. Had some of my best days when the weather was nasty cold. Just have to have a shack to stay warm.

Comes down to statistics. The more fish per acre the better your chances. Same reason I can easily shoot a deer in southern WI and spend days in northern Wi without seeing a thing.

3 inches and I go slow and check about every 10 yds.
