Talk to your local fire department. Junk cars are a great for training with the jaws of life or other tools they may have. Who knows it may help save a life

I have a dry plus jacket from cabelas. Well needless to say I may have gotten a little close to my Mr. Heater and it gave me a nice view of the anatomy of my dry plus coat. It actually has 3 layers. My coat had an outside camo layer, under that was a Teflon on fabric layer, and the last was a net material. I absolutely loved that coat I would stay dry in a downpour. I wouldn’t put anything on it.

You are going to love the gsp. The males I hear can grow pretty big! They are a very smart dog. Mine was out hunting and pointing at 5 months! She is wild and crazy (yet listens) in the field and a great big cuddler in the house. Make time and pay attention to them and they will love and respect you unconditionally.

I have good year wrangler duratrax. They are a little spendy but they are great in snow and mud. They are a 10-ply tire. The local game fish and parks also use this tire

So wondering if these are the spikes Joel was talking about. This was for bitter lake in SD today. So if I understand right the spikes usually make the fish stop?

I know jiffy makes a sharpener. It’s a pretty long thing you just lay flat on the table and run your blades through. It’s supposed to be made to give you the perfect angle to sharpen your blade and not cut yourself. Jiffy on ice onYoutube shows how to use it.

It’s a Chevy vs Ford type argument. They each have their fans and their own special features. I started my smartphone experience with a samsung stratosphere ( I know it’s not a galaxy) but I was very dissapointed. Had to send it back 3 times in 6 months. Samsung would send me a new one every time and the same problem would happen. It would randomly shut down and would have a very bad feedback sound while talking on the phone. I then switched to the iPhone 4S. I loved it. Didn’t have any problems with the phone and it did take a beating. Now I have the 5S. Again Apple made a very good product. I was kind of sketchy about the finger scanner but found out that it works great. Also I have a lifeproof case for it. The small rubber membrane makes it so the finger scanner still works plus make it waterproof up to 6 feet. I would go iPhone 5S you won’t be disappointed.

I’m not sure now I guess. I mix one of the small jiffy oils with one gallon of gas. That could be my problem.

X2 on the lx5. I fish mostly in shallow bodies of water also (10-15 FOW). It works great but gives you the option for deeper bodies. I picked one up used for $300. They are out there, be patient.

I grew up in the Waubay Webster area! There are some guides. You can also see a pretty up to date fishing report for the whole glacial lake region. Here’s a link http://www.sdglaciallakes.com/fishing-reports If that doesn’t work just google glacial lakes fishing report. It will tell you reports from local bait shops and some guides in the area. Also here’s a link for a local radio station http://www.gowatertown.net/pages/8405764.php They have a weekly radio show and they talk to GFP biologists and local bait shops to tell you where the hot bite is.I don’t think you need a guide, some of the locals are pretty helpful. I hear they are catching perch and walleye on Waubay lake and I heard bitter is starting to pick up. Any other questions feel free to hit me up

I’m a big fan dipping in eggs then in crushed ritz crackers. The fish get a little buttery flavor from the crackers.

I’m from this area. Waubay lake is giving up some nice perch and walleye with an occasional bluegill. The Gil’s are few and far between but when you catch one it’s 10″+. I haven’t heard much about bitter yet this year.

I have the black millitary Mickey boots. My feet were always the first to freeze. Now with my Mickey boots my feet don’t get cold at all. Yes they are heavy but with some conditioning you will get used to it. I think I paid $35 for mine which is a great price. One problem I found is if you use ice cleats the soles are a little big for most cleats (haven’t tried yaktrax yet). Now if I could find a pair of gloves I would be set. I have the big frabill gloves like the guys on Ido where but my fingers still get a little cold

If you don’t want to spend a lot, and fish in shallow water I’d get a fl8. You can pick them up pretty cheap, like $150 used. If not the marcum vx1 would also be a good choice for a low cost.

Anybody ever fish out of a frabill insulated guardian? How does that compare to the rest. I know Otter is far superior but the $$ may be too much for me.

We caught decent Gil’s in the spring. There is no natural structure in that lake. The GF&P put some man-made structures out in the lake. Do some research on the internet and you can get an idea where they put the structures

Does anybody know how much warmer the shacks are ( predator, otter, or clam) compared to each other. I for sure want a thermal cap.

Thanks for all the help. I was sitting in the shacks today and was kind of leaning towards the x650 cabin just because it was more in my price range. I’m not sure if I need the fully insulated. I had a Eskimo quick flip for years and never had a problem. I just don’t like the bench. Is that standard or could I get the x650 with the boat seats

I don’t care for the side doors either on the frabill. It seems like a lack in structural support. Where I am at in NESD the wind can pick up in a hurry. Does anybody have or fished from a Jason Mitchell, and does the full insulation really make that big of difference?

I have a camera and a LX5. Together they are a deadly combo. In some lakes in NESD you can’t see very far with the camera so the LX5 comes in handy. You can mark them on the flasher and really see how they are working your bait
