I carpeted the front platform and would not do it again. Collects tons of sand. When dry and at high speeds it creates a sand storm blowing back into your face. I have a Seark and for the flooring I filled the spaces between the ribs with 2″ styro and skinned it with aluminum. I painted that with camo paint with sand mixed in. Much better solution. I had 3/4″ plywood on before that and it is much too heavy. Slows top speed way down.

Well, I think it’s a good thing. The plain truth is, there are just too many boaters that do not respect other boaters and no enforcement of existing laws. Depending on boaters to police themselves clearly does not work. From tuna boat captains that never look back at their wake damage to small craft navigating too close to others at speed, it will not change without this law or a major increase in enforcement effort. It works everywhere else I have seen it. That section of the river is dangerous to small craft on a busy weekend. The ONLY alternative would be to increase the fines. Make it pay for them to do the enforcement. I would like to see mandatory licensing for boaters with a points system and fines for violations just like road vehicles. No muscle = no observance.

We brought this on ourselves in my opinion, because we all put up with the violations without reporting it and failing to demand enforcement. Just another opinion, but I will be sending an e-mail. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks AM. I will look for it at Bob’s on Fr Isl- it’s just a couple of blocks from me. Been doing great with waxies and a super small vertical jig, but always looking for something new.

What the heck is “Chena bait”? Never heard of it before.

That was my neighbor. There is a drop-off at that landing from the tuna boats using power to get on the trailer. His pontoon trailer wheels droped over the edge. Attempt to pull out the trailer sheared the ball off his hitch! At that point they decided on the tow truck. He said the front wheels of the tow truck came off the ground winching it over the ledge.

Here is a formula that worked for me when all else failed:

Prescription for Zyban from the doc. Use it for three weeks before trying to quit. Takes the craving away. Also use toothpics to have something to put in your mouth if a craving does occur. Tried the Zyban without this and it did not work the first time.

You have to eliminate the physical craving (Zyban) and the psychological habit (toothpics) at the same time. Hope this will help someone. I got off the Zyban after 8 weeks and have not had a relapse for five years now. No craving whatsoever.

I, for one, would like to find a cure for this behavior. How do we as group push for: larger boat numbers (so they are easier to get), more enforcement patrols, mandatory education and licensing etc. I don’t see any possibility for change without these and more. I have been nearly swamped in the wake of all styles of boats, not just bass boats. It’s a BOATING problem.

I like my ride better. Why? Classic and affordable!

Hope the image works, first try.

I’m working on that Dan. The area is supposed to be a designated no wake zone by the La Crosse Cty board of Harbor Commissioners. I am trying to contact them to push for signs and buoys. That notwithstanding, it is still dangerous and inconsiderate to blast by someone that close. Most boaters use common sense here and go no wake anyway since the slough is about 100 feet wide here and that is the DNR’s definintion of a no wake area.

Thanks for the idea. I will stop by the Clinton street landing tomorrow or seventh street. That is where they usually launch from.
