Both the Olivera and Jones fights were what fans pay to see. Excellent event!

What a turd of an event. Netflix failed, and Tyson proved that the only undefeated opponent is Father Time.

Zone 176 for me. For my personal land, I feel I have a pretty good handle on what lives here, as I feed them all winter and get to know whats around. This is the poorest local population I have seen since I bought my place.

In my field, most falls I could sneak out to look over it and see any where from 5 to 15 feeding any given night. This year – zero to 2 (usually zero) The lack of sign is astounding. We have had two yrs in a row of very low fawn recruitment – IMO it is bear related. Two springs in row we have had lots of spring bear problems. I know they prey heavily on fawns, so I feel thats a major portion of our local issue.

Trolling Salmon off door county. Rigger was set down 75-80 or something like that in about 100’ of water. Rod tripped, fight ensued, and an 8 lb drum came up! That was a weird one to me!

Another time on the rainy – snagged anpiece of braid – and there was something on the other end. Hand lined in an upper 50’s sturgeon that had been snagged in the adipose fin and spooled some other guy earlier in thw day who happened to be anchored next to us when i pulled it in. We had a good laugh over that one.

I have successfully been through that battle. It was nip and tuck for a while, but she finally pulled through.

I have been coaching for 7 yrs and we teach the traditional trap shooting fundamentals. Safety’s are to be OFF, a shell is to be in the gun with the action OPEN until you are ready to shoulder the gun. Getting a consistently proper mount and stance is crucial before calling for the bird. Getting from the teens to the 20’s is usually pretty simple and fundamental. Progressing towards 25’s, the little things become more important. The sport is a balance of simple muscle memory and mental focus – with the physical part being what we can teach, and the mental part being what we can only try to foster – it cant be forced.

Full or improved mod for standard trap. My boy shot full.

    Good luck Mason!

I haven’t looked forward to a fall season this much for many years. My setter will be almost 9 months old and there are good bird numbers. Should be an excellent fall to get the pup lots of encounters and turn her into a bird dog.

I like the style she has displayed, even if it has only been for chipmunks and songbirds so far….lol

I doubt thats actually the case.

I enjoy bowling. This was the first yearIi haven’t bowled in many yrs due to having a graduating son – too many irons in the fire. Will be back at it this next winter. Any other bowlers on this forum?

IMO – just take her and see. It may take more than one trip for her to settle in and be chill, but just have patience. Keep anything with hooks put away, and set the expectations low…lol

As far as doggy pfds, i have never personally seen a dog that couldn’t swim. If she jumps or falls in, she will learn.

Before a realistic target can be set, a realistic actual current harvest should be known. With the lack of transparency on the tribal side as to what they actually take, we have no way of even roughly estimating total harvest and its effects on the population. Truck after truck of tribal harvest leaving the lake with ZERO accountability tosses the entire process i to the garbage bin.

Flow troll minnow pails if it were reasonable/feasible to haul a couple of them in. I have a couple that i drilled holes in the air cavity sections on the sides so they sink. Toss em out, let em sink and they keep bait very well.

I stopped a bunch of leaks on our 14ft portage boat (treated poorly, beat to hell) by painting the leaking rivets with “Gluvit”

It worked like a charm. Very good product.

Out of curiosity, how much does a gallon of uncleaned smelt go for?

I wouldn’t mind prepping and freezing a bunch for bait.

Personally, I like permanent stands on public land. When I am scouting, it lets me know others could be hunting there. The last thing I want to do is spend time scouting, and return to hunt only to find out others are there also. Seeing a permanent stand lets me know where likely pressure may occur – and plan accordingly. I like being alone when I am hunting.

Yup. Most yrs we don’t make it to the lake. There is usually good fishing to be had still.

I understand the laws regarding stands – but are trailcams illegal on public land? A trailcam that isnt left unattended is pretty much useless?

In times of nothing but negative news, it’s nice to have a bright spot.
