I have always been of the opinion that it is pretty much a useless regulation. Why not make it as many lines as you want in open water? You want to run 20 rods, good – tangle up as much crap as you can. Seriously – how much hassle would most people ever be willing to deal with? I believe it would self regulate at 2-3 lines max for 99% of the people, because very few people could manage more than a couple on their best day.

My condolences for you and your family, Randy.

Your attitude and steadfast commitment to your word speaks volumes about not only you, but about the pair that raised you. It is quite amazing. I am proud to have you as an internet friend. Take care and God bless.

Heres a high-teens fish that hit a 300 copper on a board….. burnt a bunch of line and crossed the centerline and promptly tangled in the 300 copper on another boatd on the other side of the boat. What a mess. There was no saving that tangle. I finished the trip with a 200 and 300 copper. Lol

Edit – pic wont load. Its a nice laker with a copper snarl. Ise your imagination. Lol

Any of you run the weighted steel instead of copper?

It’s so much more forgiving that even if it produces a few less bites, it is worth it to me. Copper is just such a pain to deal with – and with just one small hiccup, you are out another $100 bill and a bunch of time/stress. I converted one of my 300 coppers to a 300 steel, and will probably end up replacing the other one as well

I have done it a few times, and we have never actually kept any. I do know a lot of guys that go and keep their one big one each on nearly every trip. To each their own, I guess. I have seen a lot of big pigs laying on the ice over the yrs.

A 5-color SWR, eh? Very interesting.

I have only used 2-color SWR’s before. Sounds worthwhile to try. I have also had increased success running really long leads – like 2-300 feet. Getting the baits far from the boat seems to help, but it sometimes makes deploying the lead/steel lines a PITA!

They are desperately trying to lock the barn now…..but the horses have been out tunning free for years.

It’s here, its spreading, and the best we can do is slow the spread theough education. Their stupid stations and weed cops are doing little to nothing.

Not many regrets in my rear view mirror. But if I could re—do a few things, I would treat a few people better, listen more, hold less grudges, and asked more girls to dance…

IMO – dont overthink it. They are walleyes – just a little bigger than average, and they fight like walleyes. Its not like a 10# eye will test your gear like a 10# trout. Go with tackle that fits the lures/hooks you will use. Just keeping it simple makes for less stress

It sucks B-man! We had one in the backyard yesterday – about 20 yds from the back door – it just stood there as my boy came up the sidewalk. When he got within 20 yds, it trotted off. We have too many of them around here, and the deer population is a fraction of what it was a few yrs ago. Its pathetic. I know a lot of guys that have shot them, and I have thanked every one, every time!

Being a number nerd at heart, I typically weigh every deer before skinning and then weigh the finished meat. Being very picky, trimming everything as cleanly as possible, 67 lbs was what I got from a 186 lb buck.

I had one over 200 lbs that i lost a good amount of meat due to bullet fragmentation and bloodshot damage and still ended up with 65 lbs.

Re: rib meat. I have tried the rolled rib roast method and was amazed at how good it came out. It’s worth googling and trying.

Personally, I would bot get thw DNR involved. If you found a hidden/forgotten gem, alerting them will only result in your “secret” spot getting signage and open classification. You do not really stand to benefit from involving them(big surprise). Hunt it and enjoy it until instructed otherwise.

If it isn’t posted as a designated type of land specifically, and you can legally access it, and there are no residences within the restricted distance for gun discharge – I would hunt it.

I used to fill the disposables and weighed every one to avoid overfill. It was a PITA, but well worth it, considering the ridiculous cost of buying new. I recently bought some if the fuel keg tanks and immediately noticed they are heavy. I weighed them empty – and they are about a full pound heavier than a disposable. They fill nicely and so far, seem to be well worth the money IMO. Just the savings in time and hassle are well worth it to me.

Both the Olivera and Jones fights were what fans pay to see. Excellent event!

What a turd of an event. Netflix failed, and Tyson proved that the only undefeated opponent is Father Time.

Zone 176 for me. For my personal land, I feel I have a pretty good handle on what lives here, as I feed them all winter and get to know whats around. This is the poorest local population I have seen since I bought my place.

In my field, most falls I could sneak out to look over it and see any where from 5 to 15 feeding any given night. This year – zero to 2 (usually zero) The lack of sign is astounding. We have had two yrs in a row of very low fawn recruitment – IMO it is bear related. Two springs in row we have had lots of spring bear problems. I know they prey heavily on fawns, so I feel thats a major portion of our local issue.

Trolling Salmon off door county. Rigger was set down 75-80 or something like that in about 100’ of water. Rod tripped, fight ensued, and an 8 lb drum came up! That was a weird one to me!

Another time on the rainy – snagged anpiece of braid – and there was something on the other end. Hand lined in an upper 50’s sturgeon that had been snagged in the adipose fin and spooled some other guy earlier in thw day who happened to be anchored next to us when i pulled it in. We had a good laugh over that one.

I have successfully been through that battle. It was nip and tuck for a while, but she finally pulled through.
