I’m just telling the facts as I know them. My best guess as to what happened to this deer was that it was hit by a car as it was found not too far from a public road.

It looks like there have been quite a few rumors going around about this deer. I figured it was time to chime in and set things straight since I was one of the first people to actually see the deer.

1.) There was no arrow sticking in the deer. Also, the deer was checked over and there was no evidence of the deer ever being shot with an arrow.
2.) As far as who is the rightful owner of the deer. Buffalo and Trempealeau County game wardens were contacted as to what was legal to do with the antlers. Since there was no evidence of the deer being poached or shot by another hunter, the deer is rightfully the landowner’s.

It is time for everyone involved in the situation to move on. It is just a deer and there are defintely more important things in life than fighting over a deer. In my opinion, I feel the landowner deserves the deer under the conditions outlined above. Please respect landowners and they will respect you. Remember hunting is a priveledge.
