On one lake I fish, the Rockbass are a sign that the walleye have moved on and we should call it a night (or move shallower but we never do). As soon as we catch a Rockie we never catch another wally in that spot. I feel they must move in shallow just behind the walleye.

I have noticed the same thing on some of the lakes I fish at night also. its has normally been a good sign to call it a night.

Anybody have any recent reports from lake benton. Have not fished it for a long time. I know at one time it was pretty much just a bullhead lake, but back in the 80s and 90s there were walleye and pike, good ones too! I have heard they did some work to the lake and the perch fishing has gotten good. I am thinking of taking a trip in late May or early June up there. If there is a reasonable chance of catching a few <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>walleye and some panfish. New work schedule has me looking at some closer spots for quick weekend trips.

I live ten or so miles from Benton- the fishing has gotten better especially in the spring for perch and walleye. They stuck a lot of time and money into cleaning up the water and weeds. also put some knew boat landings in. I would check in with the lake Benton resort for up to date bite info.

I too just bought a new Helix with ACL. I already have a lakemaster chip but my question is this. When using ACL, does it draw the new depth contours on top of the Lakemaster chart, or do I have to go into a different map view that only displays my ACL charting?

Also, has anyone found the bottom hardness mapping to be very useful and/or accurate?

yes you can, you have to have both your lakemaster and acl chip in at the same time and it will overlay on the the lakemaster map. I have found a couple humps out in the basin that i have mapped out that the lakmaster map missed.

I use mine quite a bit. My brother uses his as well. Once a year i upload all of out charts from his and my card on the computer to back them up and then put all the charts back onto (both) cards. Then i have all of his charts and he has all off of mine. Its an easy way to chart more lakes.

I’ve made a number of maps like the ones your talking about. you should have no problem making them out of a kayak, or what i would recommend is a Jon/flat bottom boat with and electric trolling motor. I have the best luck if i start mapping in the middle of the lake and then work the shore lines later or last. I seem to get the best shore couture lines that way. If you have side imaging i would pay close attention to that. I’ve found a number of small rock piles from farmers that use to farm the lakes before they filled up with water. also if you plan on transferring your files to more that one zeroline card or saving them on our computer i would recommend not turn your Auto chart on and off a lot when your mapping. every time you turn it on it starts a new file and its easier to transfer 1 or two files for a lake than say 5 or 10. good luck.

thanks for all the input, it is much appreciated.

We ended up with a shore master 108″ wide with 24’canopy and eclectic vertical lift. I would have preferred to go wider, but stuck with what I could afford.

its a vertical bunk lift, not much to guide it in. nothing to protect the boat from hitting the outside posts (frame of the lift)

Iowa is the same, except the Great Lakes,
2 lines plus you can buy an additional.

He did win in a sudden death elimination match against White Goodman and Globo Gym, although it was Chuck Norris’s fault.

he’s a kyle shanahan, Sean mcvay disciple. Aaron should get the new age creativity he wanted. as a packer fan I hope it works out, but it will depend on weather he can control Rodgers.
