How busy has the Prescott launch been with Bluffs being closed down? Wondering if I need to worry about it filling up weekend mornings?

We arrived at 0630 on Saturday morning, and boats were lining up to launch. We put in at 0650, and it was a steady stream, but everyone was fast having two lanes. I think the 70° weather had a lot more anglers out. On Sunday we went to Red Wing.
    Good luck

We were out yesterday as well. Plenty of guys out enjoying the weather. We couldn’t keep the white bass off the crank baits for the first part of the day. Seems like the walleyes were on certain parts of the structure and the <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>bass just roamed with the shad. Ended up with 10 between 16-20”. Best box of fish I’ve had from down there in a while. Definitely was color specific bite for sure. Hopefully we aren’t done with the nice days quite yet!

I’ve found the same the last few times I’ve been out. Lead and flicker shads around structure or small flats next to deeper water has produced the most keepers. Blade baits, jig and minnow, and ripping raps catch fish but more of a mixed bag of species and in my experience less keepers. I have talk to guys that do well this time of year on a a more shallow bite casting jig and minnow or plastic but I have tried and failed. I suspect it’s a confidence thing and I’m missing a few details that might make it more successful. Either way I’m going to give it a try tomorrow morning and hope for the best.

    Good luck out there!

    Thanks.
We went to Pool 4 yesterday, and lit ’em up.

    Really appreciate all the feedback!
Looks like we will have to eat out more than one night. Some good options for sure.

Launched at the Bluffs this AM. One spot about 3’ near rock buoy, otherwise 5’. Lots of boats launching.

I’d suggest Petenwell. I’ve always done better there in the Fall. Just a suggestion. If you get out, stay safe and tight lines.[/quote]

I appreciate the info, and always looking for suggestions on unfamiliar water. Thank you.

Love that pic Brady. The smiles are priceless.

Good bite happening on lower St.Croix. Launched at Bluffs Regional Park with no issues. One of the docks is still dry.
All fish caught on Jiggin Raps and Rippin Raps in 18′-22′ of water.
    Water temp around 51°-52°.

We’re done tomorrow. Will post today if we find anything new. Gonna try near Warroad as NW winds today put another damper on getting to better areas.
River was slow for us, but that was first time, so not familiar with better areas. We put in at Borderview, and fished spots up river about five miles. There were several charters scattered here and there, but no clue how they’re doing. We did pick up three good eaters, but everything else was small.

Are the fish starting to move back shallow yet with the cooler weather

Not sure, we’ve been taking what we can this week. Hoping Friday we can finally get out to some spots as forecast looks better. The wind and waves have been tough. We had to fish the river today because main lake was too rough for our 20′ boat.

Considering the hatch on Sunday night…I think you did very well.

Thanks. It was a family reunion trip, so low stress fishing. Had a nice fish fry Monday night for 11 people, so no complaints toast

Hope the Denver rigs worked better than the shad raps on saturday.
Fished most the day got 2 dandy perch 2 sheephead and a short walleye. Stayed south of Lake City.

Gave them an honest shot, but no luck. Never seen so many mayflies in my life over the course of the week. There were times they were so thick in the water the ‘bird was marking the cloud as bottom. Sheepshead everywhere we fished. Salvaged trip by targeting panfish, and whitebass.

Depending on who you ask, 1.5 to 2.50 mph. I’m normally around the 1.75 mark for the best results.

    Sounds good…Thank you

I’d probably take the easy way out and just get back online to add a 1 day.

Yeah, I have a feeling they won’t be able to do anything and we’ll have to spend an extra $14. Won’t be the end of the world, but we’re driving from over 420 miles away, so hoping to save what we can.

And Tom, you can try Koonce on FB, his page is Dave Koonce… He does not guide any longer, but will send the right way as he told me… fish-them-all did a good of providing all of those guys who do post on LL.

Will do. Got some great info, and looks like it will be tough trying to decide. Thanks again

These 3 post fishing reports quite often on lakelink.com. Ted Peck used to guide on pool 9, but i don’t see much from him lately.

    Appreciate it! Thank you

Nice fish! How do the white bass taste? I’ve always wondered.

Pretty good if you remove the dark red meat. I mainly take the portion from above the lateral line. And when filleting down & across the fish, cut just short of the skin. That eliminates much of the strong tasting crud. I usually only keep them during colder water months.

That’s a cool report, and great to see a mom out fishing!

Much appreciated!… It’s nice to get positive feedback from guys on here instead of the negativity that gets written on other sites.
