I just bought one of the two XT Yukon In clear lake for $850 (ice team edition)
The thorne bros “show” they were 10% off I believe. (and another 20% on accessories)
If I had to guess 10-15% is about what you may be able to get just because there is not a lot of stock.
A few years back I grabbed a sierra Thermal for $350 our the door, and that was awesome.
I have a genz with a FLX_28, I have wired it to run my lights, a USM port to charge the phone and Mounted a holder for my Aquaview.
With the Genz Box you can do quite a bit, totally custamizable.
I have a marcum transducer arm, and I mounted a nylon cleat on the back (like for a boat) to wrap the transducer cable.
I love the set up
Went to eskimo website tonight and all the hub shelters are marked “SOLD OUT” or “OUT OF STOCK FOR THE SEASON”
Don’t understand how they can be sold out already???
THey dont start selling them usually until oct.

Just curiousI think all the new products will be released on their website 9/2.
Pretty excited!
Any chance they are adding a rear door to the Eskape Series?
I’ve had my Marcum Recon 5 for a few years and like it.
How does it do in dirty water?
Also looking at cameras, and trying to figure out if the pursuit is worth the extra 200 bucks.
THis is interesting as no one has questioned the size or models being looked at.
Also what type of fishing, with kids no kids.
I have fished in both insulated and uninsulated, and depending on where you are at I would say insulation is a huge deal.
But having said that I would wonder what size you are looking at, what is your budget, ect.
Check out Vexilars website for refurb units, they have the same warranty and if you go to the vex store in bloomington you can get a free hat and whatnot with it.
I have a FLX-28 I have had for 5-6 years, I love it.
The kid got a FLX-20 last year and really liked the clarity over his old fl-18
I have a kenai and it is really easy to move around, no pole extensions. I did find it awkward to put in the truck on my own, so I picked up the Eskimo Sierra thermal, it’s a little heavier but because of the size it’s easier to throw in the truck. I miss the no pole extensions on it though.
I picked up one of the clam drop in lines and I love it.
I have been running the decent reels since they were cgi, and they are pretty good especially for the money.
Thinking of adding a free fall to the mix this year, because why not?
I have a couple of hunting buddy heaters and I prefer them to the big buddy. For the Yukon a little buddy would be fine, unless it is just brutally cold.
When using the larger hubs my friend has this one,

If you are looking to also cook on the ice grab a cheap white gas single burner, that this works all the time.
I did buy a jet boil last year to make coffee on the ice but the adapter to use a pot is not as good as a decent white gas one burner.
With the little buddy or hunting buddy you can grab one of the many grills attachments for hot dogs or what not, but they do cook slow.
I’m looking at the Sierra Thermal. Has anyone been in one? I know they’re built relatively light…which is what I’m looking for.
No, I don’t want some heavy otter tank or large monster that’s immobile. I’m hesitant to even think of this at 80# given my current shack is around 50#. I fish early and late ice in relatively remote spots. I drag on foot for miles some days through backwaters of the river where no vehicle or wheeler could go. Often I fish alone, and this would still give me the versatility for someone else to join when not using the extra space for myself. My current 1 man just is slowly being beaten to nothing. The years of dragging it through woods, water, rip rap, gravel, mud, etc have its days numbered.
I have one and I love it. It replaced a clam kenai, it’s pretty light, pulls great with hyrax, and I can Todd it in the truck by myself.
The negatives, you have to buy the Eskimo tow hitch if you want to pull it, and because the way the sled is designed, with all of the rounded spots, it is difficult to use other accessories that work with other houses.
I got mine at the ice show for 350 cash, thermal model and I love it.
Couple of questions bout the clam showroom.
If I order online can I pick it up that day?
Does clam still offer a veterans discount?

Ok I have never done this, will there be people to help?Kid and some friends considering this.
Yes, Equip might be the biggest hurdle though.
What type of equip?
We ice fish quite a bit and have both flip and hub houses, as well as electronics.
Rod and reels we may need to get heavier gear

Kid and some friends considering this.
Why the switch from Otter to Eskimo?
What do you do with the precious Otter houses?
He addressed this in General Discussion.
Otter Decided to end the relationship
I bought a new iPad this year with cellular. All of the tv we have at home is streaming, so I have a small tv wherever I go!
If you are looking for a cheap flip over I would start with the basic Clam or Eskimo, depending on your budget the otters are awesome.
Depending on your location you should be able to find a used flasher for 200-250, and that is a good route to start. they really hold their value so typically you should be able to sell it if you decide it isn’t for you.
I good hand auger would be fine al long as you are working with moderate ice, but I found I am much more willing to move around with the power auger. If you have a good Drill I can tell you the k-drill is pretty sweet, I use it almost exclusively.
The biggest thing I tell people is that your outerear is crucial. If you are cold or wet it will not be fun. I recommend you start with your feet and work up, Good boots, good bibs, then the jacket.
We are renting a cabin and sleeper houses at

For us we would like to catch fish but hanging out is the primary goal.
I have this clam hub light. Small, compact & super bright. I connect it right to my vexilar battery. price is a bit steep at $50 but i would buy another if i lost the one i have currently.
fyi it fits other hub houses besides clam…. i use it in my Otter Resort.
I have one of these in my otter resort as well.
Lights the entire hub up
Just bought the stricken ice gloves, they did very well
Time will tell if they hold up
Love my impacts, had them two years now and I can spend all day doing. The ice in them
I do throw them on a dryer when I get home
I bought the bare tool and then grabbed a couple of the 3.0 amp hour batteries.
I got a 5.0 with the desalt hedge trimmer.
The batteries they come with don’t last long.
I have had the climate suit for 3 years now. Love it and would never go back
Ice shows you can save about 25%, and every couple of years scheels does some cool stuff as well.
Nice fish Andy ! To the article linked above about FB…. So somebody can analyze you maybe like cookies and milk if you “Like” Nestle and Keebler on Facebook and your avatar has you pictured with a milkstash ? Brilliant… wonder what else they know… maybe that if you “Like” Fox News, you may be a conservative and if you “Like” CNN, you may actually have severe brain trauma…? Again.. who knew this was going on and only on FB… never here.
Normally when you are getting something for free, you cease to be the comsumer, and you are the product being sold.
James- I am wishing you a speedy Recovery, and look forward to watching you soon!
