Hey now Allan, those big browns can be an absolute pain in the a$$ to catch ice fishing. I had a few days this winter where I dropped my aqua-vu and watched 20lbers swimming around but not feeding. Fall open water and in the rivers are a completely different story on the other hand lol

Crappies throttle them, that’s the hype.

I started using these two years ago in addition to my automatic fisherman for brown trout and steelhead in the harbors of lake Michigan and they work fine with shiners. Typically I have it set for the lightest bites and have yet to have a false trip.

your the first one i’ve ever heard say something good about marcum’s service department IceAsylum. Personally go with a Vex and it is very possible to get a FLX 28 Pro Pack for $508 (just did on sportsmansguide.com) I went from the 8 to 28 last year and can’t say enough good about it. I even turned two buddies into vexilar fans after running marcums for a long time. Only issue i’ve ever had with my fl-8 in the 12yrs of using it was the puck went out but I called vex and the repair shop walked me through how to troubleshoot it and I had a new puck in 2 days.

If you want a mega brown head southeast to the Milwaukee WI area. I know it’s not the same as your creek browns but you have a very good shot at a 20+lber. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message

Got one of those during salmon a rama as well, if he were a little bigger he would have gone on the wall due to the neat colors

Last weekend during the Brew City tournament the kings and bait pods were in the gaps and a lot of guys were catching them jigging. I fished Brew city and didn’t hear of a whole lot of action coming from shallow water for kings even though I had boats to the inside of me (15-25′ of water). A lot of guys did well a little south by the green can and north of fox point. Personally I couldn’t find a king to save my life but did finish 39th with 5 fish for 58lbs, 1 coho 4 very nice browns with one being 19.5lbs. It was a completely different story the week before. Ended up going 4-4 in just over an hour in the same area I started Brew City, 4 16-14lb kings and a 16lb brown. I just looked at the forecast and they are calling for everything but WEST winds this week. If you guys are looking at jigging for the kings I would highly suggest looking at the last weekend of August.
