I would switch to braid. I throw Suffix 832 30#. I do not usually loose fish on a swim jig. The fish will hit it hard and just learn to sweep in the hook set. Brovarney jigs are the bomb! Light wire hook and hand tied. Make in the USA!!!!!

I have been using my Talon more and more. The more I use it, the more it is a essential tool for a bass boat.

I have been running HB for 5 years now. The ease of operation is AWESOME. I fished the TBF National Championship last year and we ran Low. I know I am not comfortable running them, but they seemed complicated. The support staff was not very helpful.

Also the customer service for Low has been terrible to say the least.

    I noe have a 998, 798 and 586, I really like them all.

Bottom line it is all in what you are looking for and comfortable with.

    HB for me.

Line, the new Suffix 832 braid in 30#. I throw it in crystal clear to muddy water. Thick cover to open water.

It is mostly personal preference on the line.

I throw Brovarney’s Swim Jigs on a 7′ med fast action.

The kind of jig is a whole nother post.

After having one, IMO it is a must for a Bass boat.

Ralph, I know Gregg sold the Super K Jigs business. I just cannot remember to whom.

Brovarney makes an awesome swim jig. Gregg’s plunkin jigs were very nice!

Hey Kyle. I believe they are ceramic rings with Silicon Carbide rings. I will check on it for sure and let you know.

Here is a group from 11-22-09. We ended up shooting 23 in the morning. Sunday we shot 15 out of the same field. With the weather moving in, the December 5th hunt should be a great one.

You cannot shoot them with your bow Rob. I’ll out gun you with my 10gauge!

Sorry to hear Paul. I had to put my 13yr old yellow down about a year ago. Very tough thing to do. I held her until her last breath. Toughest thing I have ever had to do. Very pieceful though. Thoughts and prayers with you.

Just remember. She will be able to run free of pain. Chase all the birds she wants and she will be waiting for you when it is your time.

He hates the brace Don. I have had it on him a couple times and keep trying to have it on for at least an hour. He is getting used to it little by little.

He has not favored his leg for a month now. I am starting to get him off the meds to see if he favors it. I also am keeping him quiet. I will let you know how things go.

    Thanks for all the help.

It’s a wolf. Look at the nose and ears. Definately not a yote.

Nice pictures Johnny! Great to see that many ducks and geese in one area.

I would be very careful shooting Black Cloud out of a Patternmaster. The wad could get lodged in the choke. Just an FYI.

I use Tungsten everytime I can afford to get some. The stuff is amazing on how fast it kills. Late season geese take a beating.

    Quote:

don’t need that fancy ammo, when you can finish the birds into the decoys…

learn how to call better, and pay attention to what does and doesn’t work with decoy spreads, and you can spend 10 bucks on a box of shells, and not worry about it.

WOW that’s harsh coming from a guy that has ” One step a head of the Warden” in his avatar. So that means eveytime you shoot, the birds are right at your feet?

So you are saying you do not need to use Bis or Tungsten shot? Steel does work just fine. If I could afford it, I would shoot nothing but Hevi-Shot!

Pat. I would recommend BB. I would also recommend buying any load that is 1500 FPS. Use a Improved cylinder and the pattern should be just fine. We will be shooting the birds close, no pass shooting. I would say under 25 yards or less.

I shoot a lot of 1’S. They pattern great and have a lot of knock down power for decoying birds. BB and BBB also for the last shot. I also shoot a Patternmaster choke.

Good luck and I hope we see you on the 31st.

Thanks for the information. He is not limping on it now and has not for over a week. I am going to see how he is doing for the next couple of weeks and if he is not favoring it, start getting him off his meds to see if he has problems.

I have the A-trac brace I am going to put on him for now also. Thanks Don.

If he seems fine in another month, I am going to have a second opinion. I saw nothing on the first x-ray but the Vet said it was torn. We will see.

This will be a great time as always. Come and join us. It will be fun!
