August 17, 2017 at 1:10 pm #1710664Right now in this flow I always Start on the Tip of the dam no need to spend any time on the shoreline unless you want bass. Anchor or Spot lock up river with a 1/2 Oz Egg sinker swivel and 24″-30″ snell and start throwing bait. Start casting out towards the main channel side of the tip and slowly work it back to the boat then you can fan cast to the inside of the top of the dam and work it out from there as well. IF you aren’t hitting rocks with your sinker while your sweeping the bait your fishing to high above the dam. Get ready to loose a lot of rigs. Look for wing dams that have deeper water on the tip above but more importantly deep water behind the tip. If you want to throw cranks you cant miss with a Fat Free Shad.

April 6, 2017 at 10:03 am #1686774It works for everything. Bio filter 5-7 gallon bucket with lid. Run a PVC pipe through the lid to the bottom with a 90 elbow at bottom this is your fill pipe. 2″ thick of 1 1/2 rocks at bottom then 2″ of pea Gravel fill with clean sand to 2″ from top. Plumb a fitting out the top side of bucket below the rim. this is your return pipe. Hook it up and let it run
April 5, 2017 at 10:24 am #1686586Find yourself a old smaller freezer and find a shady spot behind your garage and bury it in the ground. Plumb in a few overflow fittings and make yourself a bio filter hook it up to a small recirculating pump. Fill it with water and let it run a few days after that most of the crap they put into city water is gone. You can add some water treatment for the minnows. Even in the heat of summer it stays cool. pump out and change half the water every so often. It will take the bio filter a couple months to be fully functioning. Bolt a hasp and padlock on it so nobody messes with you bait.
October 20, 2015 at 12:41 pm #1572190Heater Body Suit. It’s worth every Penny! Rut hunting in Early November you only usually need light clothes and Boots under it and a warm Hat. Late season Hunts I will put on warm bibs and such under the suit and Can still sit in the tree all day when need be.
July 14, 2015 at 12:23 pm #1554699We have a Small Thursday night fishing league here in Winona that we have been doing for years. We use a nightly points System 15″ Walleye= 10 Points, 20″ Catfish = 10 points, 24″ Northern = 10 points Then add 5 points for every 1″ fish is larger. We just measure and Release them when you catch them and everybody gives their tally at the end of the night. Works good for us and no permit issues with not bringing in fish.
June 22, 2015 at 12:44 pm #1551431The Chase is a very Nice Place to have a Work Seminar. We just got back From Leech Sat night. The Mayflies were Hatching and The fishing was good. We used Gold or Perch Spinners When the Wind Wasn’t Blowing to Get Fish. Rigging Chubs in 14-18′ Was the best for Us on Windy shoreline Breaks in South Walker Bay. But Casting Jig N Raps Put the most fish in the Boat the Entire Week.

August 2, 2013 at 6:05 pm #131169We put in 3 ponds 4-5 years ago just for a water source to hunt over in the woods by key tree stand sites. We dug them out about a foot deeper than we wanted to keep them then put in a cheap plastic liner(menards 10 mil plastic)then covered the plastic with 1′ of dirt. These were 25-30′ dia ponds, two we put in where the water naturally runs into it. These were great the first couple years because they filled with water every rain but they eventually filled in with silt also. Now they are have the size of what we started with. Our best pond we put in the woods right on a top of a ridge. Even when we get along period without rain it still holds water plus it has never filled in with silt. After a few years the with the deer and critters compacting the soil in the ponds I am sure they would hold water even without the liner. Ps those ponds in the woods are magnets come the rut.
April 12, 2013 at 1:35 pm #1161999We got to much Rain . Almost all of the streams are about out of there banks. So if you were thinking of Trout fishing I would wait a week or two
January 6, 2012 at 5:57 pm #117521I bought a TC Omega muzzle loader years ago and love it.
It’s a tack driver and have never had a problem with it, I know some buddy’s who have had CVA muzzle loaders and had alot of problems with them shooting accurately. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the TC.August 11, 2011 at 4:47 pm #987771I have made many scoops for dipping cats. I use all aluminum for the handle and the hoop then mesh netting for the bag. Its more work than you could imagine when dipping cats but for some reason it’s fun to.
January 26, 2011 at 3:19 pm #99339They did this same thing around 1999 at a farm I hunt on in SE MN. If I remember correctly they Radio Collared 10 Doe that were at Least 1 1/2 year olds. I ended up shooting one with my bow in 2007. After I sent in the collar they sent me back a printout map of everywhere the doe had been tracked over the years. It was very interesting to see where she spent most of her time.
October 25, 2009 at 8:23 pm #64781No sign of him at all. Some of the heavy blood from last night was still visible after the rain but I still could not find any more from the point we lost it. Going to be spending alot of time walking the woods this week!
October 25, 2009 at 2:09 pm #64768Got on a good blood trail last night you could darn near run following the sign. Then it started raining and the blood slowed. We lost his trail and called it a night. Headed back out this A.M.
