Nice pic’s Brian! Dad found some smallmouth doing the same thing the other day. There where about 20-30 fish in one big ball. Anyone know why these fish do this?

Hey Stu, how did you get on the river? Rumor down here is that you’ll need an electric reel to go fishing! Must be feeling better! May need a boat buddy, if someone doesn’t show up this weekend!

I agree with rod-man. You can take your foot or your spade and cut and horse shoe shape in the bank 8-10 inches wide by 8-10 deep. The trap should be just below the water, an inch or so. Then take your spade and make a hole the size of your pvc or use your pvc, it doesn’t matter, keep the bait dry.
The only thing I see that would put more coon in your traps, is to put a good size branch off a tree or a large rock on the top side of the bait. Make the coon or mink come around into the water to work the bait. Right now he can keep his feet dry and enjoy your fish. Large chunks of fresh carp seem to work the best for the mink. Coon won’t pass it up this meal. Shellfish works in combo with this set, not all over the bank. Just some around the pocket for smell, you don’t want him wondering all over. Make 2-3 set within a 25 foot area, you be surprised how many doubles and triples you’ll get. Good Luck Wats!!

Talk about easy pickings, I snagged about 20 dozen last night. I didn’t even have to pull one worm out of the ground.

    Thanks Stuart

It hards to beat a woman that loves to eat fish and deer meat. So, if I’m not catching fish, she isn’t .

We had a great time in Vegas, it was a blast. So much to see and do out there.
We didn’t even get a chance to see it all. Which there is always next year.
As far as me winning out there, didn’t happen .

Looking forward to next weekend .
    Hopefully we them.

You shouldn’t have trouble finding fish. We fished it alot last spring, and the bass were all over. Good Luck

Your welcome Joe for the meat. I thought that I’ve seen that face before.
Dad and I did end up with some nice eaters that day.
We did see some nice fish caught in the 17-20 inch range and 2 fish for sure that went over that and put back.

I’m on my way Las Vegas tonight, to get married in the middle of the week , but hopefully back on the water Friday

Maybe will see yeah on the water again

We fished on Sunday and had little to no luck. We start fishing around 7am and left at sunset. The water was alitte cloudy and there was alot of food (bugs) on the bottom. We end up with 1 bass and 1 perch all day.

The ice was 6-8 inches on the north end, after this week I’m sure it will be mostly gone. Some open water around the island on the north end with a huge crack east and west of the island. The ice was cracking and buckling alot, couple of times I was reaching for the zipper on the tent.

Anybody going out this week or weekend be really carefull, spring is just around the corner.

We are all on this earth for what seens like forever, but the time goes by so fast. Take some time out of your busy lifestyle and go fishing or just sit and have a with the ones you love. Because, time will just fly by before you know it.

    Thank everyone

Hey spinner dave . Nice catch If you want to increase your catch and not have to worry about the unwanted catches look into the griz traps. If I ever buy another trap this would be it. I have 3 dozen of these and never have caught a dog. Cats on the other hand, yes . What’s nice about these, is you can stick them anywhere and catch coon. I had a lady that had a 2 coons that where feeding out of her cat dishs, so I planted to grizs next to her house. She had over 10 cats, so I baited it with half of a big marshmellow and peanut butter. She called me the next morning to tell me that I had both of them . Those to coon lead to permission to 2 other farmers in the area. This is just one web sight you can find them on http://www.snareshop.com, they are pricey, but well worth it.
