Jon J. your absolutely correct. it’s funny how so many people give the DNR so much credit for the management of the lake when there hands are so tied up in the political game of harvest quotas, release mortality, formula’s for this that and the other. I can remember back in 1992 when the walleyes were on total suicide and the numbers for that year were, correct me if I’m wrong, somewhere over 750,000, quite possibly closer to 1,000,000. There was not a 2″ harvest slot in anybodys vocabulary then and probably would not be now had we not…..probably better stop right there. I do fear the buisnesses will see the biggest impact.

My son was interested in fishing this with me, but because he has started a new job this spring, could not risk taking the time off. Hopefully next year we can pair up and fish this. Good Luck to ya Bob, should be fun

My timing is impeccable as usual. Up since thursday eve and the ice slowly moved out into the lake, then I leave to go home and whamo, things start to happen in a hurry. Cool video Bob

Well, at least those heaves aren’t pushing those boulders up on my lawn like last year. I couldn’t believe how many huge rocks were so far up on the grass last year when I opened up the cabin. Cool Pics Bob.

Ok, what the heck, I’ll chime in. I am in favor of leaving things the way they are right now. If your going to change anything, illiminate the 22″ keeper’s that start in July, leave it at 20-28″ protected thru the entire season. In fact I would have no problem in dropping that to 19 or 18″. To me, a 16-17″ walleye has got to be the tastyist meal god put on the planet. Leave the lower end open, I think the DNR has good reason to do that, for one thing when that lake has a good hatch, the sheer numbers of those sizes cannot be hurt by anglers taking 13″ers, and it is one less thing the wardens have to worry about when checking anglers. If the old rule is still true “90% of the fish are caught by 10% of the fishermen” I’m sure the 10% are not keeping much at all under 14″. Another point to ponder is that the DNR has stated in years past that it would be nice to have some rules that are consistant year after year and I think we are very, very close to that right now.

Hook, one look at my belly and you would say I was Skipper

Bob, I was hoping you were going to wander out to us, it only got better as the night went on after we chatted, sure is windy here at home tonight, I can imagine what the lake is like.

Jack, East side rocks, I’m a weekend neighbor to Bobber, gives you an idea of the area. HJ 12’s in Clown, Rainbow, I caught a 28″ on Blue (one of my favorite stand byes) and it seemed as if the Firetiger produced several nice fish, including the 2 that will be on the wall.

    What a blast!!

I’ll second that about the leeches, if you can find them, get some. Bob, did you see that guy anchor up close to us? Well we aquired a lighted bobber when we pulled the anchor.
I think he meant well, he just wound up fishing right over my rope, not sure why he didn’t take a few minutes to move over a little .
Anyway, we also pulled some very nice eating fish off those rocks this weekend. The next couple of weeks should be awesome as well.
    Here’s my partner, Joel with a nice 25″ and your’s truly with a 27″er .

Hey Bobber, I’ve heard some reports of ice-out as of 4/19.
    What have you heard?
