If your boat sits very long your bilge pump and your livewell pump can freeze up. It is pretty easy to take the top off and break the propellar loose if it is stuck from dirt dried on it. I will drop some water in the bilge to make sure it works. Do this at home before you leave for the water. Another fellow gave me this advise so I am passing it on. Good fishing!

I see. I ended up with vinyl in mine and really like it. It cleans up easily. I use it for both the Mississippi and also for the smaller rivers in my area. (sand) Also my thinking was, if I ran it up on a sandbar, it would be light enough to push off. I haven’t had to test that theory yet, thank goodness! Anyway, thanks Don for clearing that up.
January 18, 2005 at 5:07 am #337146Hea Don, I purchased the 18′ Alaskan 2 years ago and was able to put a 90H 4 stroke on it. Has the rating changed and if so am I grandfathered in on my rating?
January 14, 2005 at 2:06 am #336534Hea James,
It was one of the better falls for fishing on the Muscatine pool. We caught as many walleye as sauger which is a switch for me anyway. I only got over to pool 17 a couple of times this year, which I would rather fish, but it wasn’t as good for me. They were working on the spillway most of the fall. Congats on the new boat! They are building a new boat ramp at Muscatine. There was nothing wrong with the ones that are there now, but the City is expanding their riverfront project (guessing), and they are moving the ramps upstream about a quarter of a mile.November 10, 2004 at 2:07 am #327054These guys are right. All they have to sell you is their service. I will always pay more if the service is top notch!
February 27, 2004 at 9:10 pm #294475I think the heads are the same or at least they were, but now Mercury is making their own. The part I am wondering about is Mercury usuing Yamaha parts in the head?
February 27, 2004 at 4:26 am #294381I went with vinyl, and really like it. Doesn’t look quite as fancy but neither do I, so it fits. Easy to clean and I’ve not had any problem slipping on it.
February 27, 2004 at 4:13 am #29437677 YEARS OLD, WOW! and I’ve always said,” if I knew I was going to live this long I would of taken better care of myself”.
January 7, 2004 at 12:36 am #287659Thanks Jason. I’ll take a look at the Web site. Coming that way in April and looking forward to it!
December 5, 2003 at 5:23 am #284118Nice fish Dave. Looks a little like your fishing partner, doesn’t it!
December 5, 2003 at 4:54 am #284116I was taking to a mechanic the other day and learned something new for me. He told me that when I squeese the bulb, to always hold the bulb so that the fuel line is straight up and down. Has to do with air getting trapped in the bulb. Thats what he told me anyway.
November 6, 2003 at 12:37 am #280963We need to do something. Too many shorts beig caught in too deep of water! I’d like to see the plan implemented for a few years and wouldn’t have any problem if they start down here in SE IA. I’ve watched too much abuse!
November 6, 2003 at 12:30 am #280962How cold was it out. We got 4 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches of rain down here in SE IA and the bite totally stopped!
November 5, 2003 at 11:44 pm #280957Going to have to spool up a reel with something else. I notice last year that my eyelets would freeze up more with fireline. Better be prepared and put something different on also. Thanks for the advice!
November 3, 2003 at 11:29 pm #280659That game was won in the trenches. I like both teams and like both Quarterbacks. The guys on the line can make or break the QB’s. I don’t know about the Packers, but the Vikes should like the rest of their schedule until they meet KC.
October 31, 2003 at 2:56 am #280255No I haven’t. Alot of different ways to go, that’s for sure. I’ll probably stay away from the gel batteries as I just purchased a Pro-Charger for on board my boat. Don’t think I can use it on Gel Batteries. Thanks
October 29, 2003 at 7:20 pm #279979I must of hit the wrong spot with my mouse. I would of given it a better rating than I did because the feedback was very good. Thanks for the info.
October 29, 2003 at 12:21 pm #279917Thought I would rate this thread. When I clicked on the drop arrow to change the number of stars it automatically gave me the one star rate. Not sure what I did wrong. Can a guy change his rating once one has been selected to correct it?
October 29, 2003 at 4:22 am #279906Are they working on a bridge or something? Coming up that way in about 3 weeks and usually take that road I believe.
Where do you pick Rd 6 up at? Right in Zumbroto?October 29, 2003 at 4:16 am #279905Thats sounds interesting. Two positive…two negative posts. Don’t believe I run across this brand in my neck of the woods. I’ll have to check around. Thanks guys!
October 28, 2003 at 2:05 am #279787What would one expect to pay for a size 27 deep cycle at Sam’s Club?
October 28, 2003 at 1:42 am #279779I decided to look back a few pages because I was sure somebody else had probably ask the same questions earlier. On page 23 I found what I was looking for. Steve Plantz provided a link that is excellant. After reading up on batteries there I don’t feel quite so bad on how long my lasted. 4 years is about what I should expect. One thing I learned is to keep my on board charger plugged in all the time in the garage. I didn’t realize that. Maybe these two would of gave me another year or two. Good information!
