These Texas boys are a little red under the collar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You don’t plan a trip for a year , fish every tournment you can, spend thousands of dollars , make non-refundable plane reservations , motel reservations, plan your yearly vacation around the finals, plus too many other things to mention and then say its over a week before it starts! Who’s running this show? Someone has known this for some time and could at least have the decency to let us know they were having trouble. You can’t plan a 1000 mile trip and a week of fishing without a little planning! Something smells a little fishy…..USFA or Ranger?

For what its worth…I agree with H20. It has been my experience that when using fire line there are a few things to think about. It is great in the sensitivity department but I dont like to jig or live bait fish with it.If you vertical jig and aren’t easy on the hook set you will pull the jig out or tear a hole in the side of a walleyes mouth.I have pulled small fish in and found a hole big enough for a jig to fall out ,and if your pole is too stiff or drag too tight fireline will go slack.for a split second and you’ll lose fish.I also feel that when using it for live bait rigging a walleye will feel you just as you can feel him and many times on subtle bites they will drop the bait.Mono is sometimes more forgiving because of the stretch .I like to use fireline when trolling or deep vertical jigging. I learned a hard lesson on Devil’s lake….You not only have to hook those walleye you have to keep them hooked until they are swimming in you livewell.

If it gets too bad, they make what is called a helicoil and most auto stores sell them. It is made to repair stripped threads.

Thanks for some very informative answers. Maybe one more wouldn’t hurt… Just how long are these wing dams on average and how wide?

Thanks.I’m new at this computer stuff so don’t know which response you will get .I have a map of the river but all I can find on depth is aprox.9 ft. We fish reservoirs to 70 ft.,so I was wondering what depth and colors we would be dealing with.In response to Mountain man ,we have reservations made just hope schedules work out. Have more questions when I get time .Look forward to fishing the river and meeting some of you guys at the classic.
