I have a 20 ft triton X pro bass boat and have zero problems in any kind of weather on Rainy .Big bass boats take rough water as good as any deep v.The last boat I had here was a 21 ft alumacraft deep v,so I have had a lot of experience with both.Iam not trying to start a debate either. Lol ,When you really get to know the lake you can find ways to go anywhere on the lake in most weather.

When you live here you do not normally go out on windy days.

The Rainy river can be tough to navigate when the water is low!I have taken a big boat from Ifalls down threw the Manitou Rapids ,it’s not bad if you are use to the river and know it.The river fishing can be really good ,I have caught some monster pike, sturgeon, and the walleye fishing is good. That being said I would pick the lake ,much more water and opportunity .I have been living here for 13 years now and fish both lake and river. The Canadian side of Rainy is under fished and the fishing is unbelievable at times. When you live here in the Falls, and fish Canada a lot ,you can get a remote border crossing pass and can go from the us to Canada via water and do not have to go through customs.I would take the lake hands down and trailer to the river.

I fish the N arm almost everyday. The walleyes are on shallow reefs right now or stacked up on windy points.Bass are also found on windy points or pockets.Pike seem to be every where, any place that has a lot of weeds you will find pike.Baits for the kids ,4 inch mister twisters in white or yellow either casting or trolling will produce fish,if you have electronics on your boat check the deeper humps ,if you see fish you can use your trolling motor to stay on top of them and jig them, jig and crawler will work fine. The best thing to do is keep moving till you find fish. One more thing if you troll keep your boat in he 7 to 12 fow .

I have been out the last couple of days and the fishing has been great.I was up in the North Arm mainly bass fishing .We did very well on bass mostly post spawn fish that are starting to feed, along with the bass we are getting some nice walleyes. We have been concentrating on points close to spawning areas.Wind really helps and the fish seem to be tight to shore.

Northwest wind howling last four days!31 degrees this morn!I was out yesterday and it sucked. The weather looks to be improving,i.e. Warming up,this should help a lot.The fish are still shallow for the most part and the fishing was pretty good before the cold front.I will be heading out again today .

There is still ice on the lake and bays,as far as spots go ,they never seem to be in the same place year after year ,with that being said we do hit all the bay’s that we have found them in the past. The lake level have a lot to do with it,the higher the water the better the fishing.Old reeds is what you want to look for ,the larger the area the better.Once you find the reeds the pike are general not everywhere ,the big females look for the open spots in the weed beds, the males seem to cruise around more .We use flukes and hollow belly swim baits rigged weed less to fish in the cover and X raps for the edges. The best way to find them is to study your map at home and try to hit as many bays as you can ,you want to get way back in the pike will be in water as shallow as a foot.

Report April 10,The customers I have in told me the walleye fishing has been slow, water temps are in the mid thirties and the bite is just not happening right now, warmer weather is predicted for this week that should help.
The Sturgeon fishing has been great at the dam. There are a lot of fish being caught in the 50 inch range with a few over 60!

This landing is mostly used to carry your boat down to the river it is difficult .I would not recommend this for you,Any other landing would be fine. This one is mostly for canoes.
