Too bad I can’t send some bait to you…LOL
Went out to Lake stocked with Trout and full of Suckers recently. Went out purposely to catch Suckers. Bought back 10 that were averaged between 1-2 lbs.
They are going to look really pretty with a Quick strike rig attached. Savin these for late Feb-March for a lake where the big Girls will be staging near the openings of Backbays. As soon as Ice comes off( I know bite my tongue..LOL) we do much better and bigger..
Here’s one of the girls from Alberta..

I’m looking for some suggestions for picking up some frozen cisco for fishing pike later in the winter. No time like the present to lay in the supply. Anyone have any good sources. I know the grocers in my area don’t carry them or if they do they’re smoked. I’d like to have a supply from 5″ – 6″ up to REALLY BIG if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

    James,
Have you taken a look into your local “Oriental Supermarket”. Sometimes they carry a weird assortment of Frozen fish which might suit your needs. A bud goes there and buys Frozen fish (can’t remember the name of it but looks like a Whitefish)Ranging from 1-2 lbs strictly for baiting huge Gators on Tip-up baits.
I’ve picked up huge “Chilean Smelts” ranging 6″-10″ when they were in season. A local Fishmarket would also be another place to check out.
Did a trip recently and found that there was frozen packages of “Baby Shrimp”. Sizes ranged from 1/2″ to 1″ with head and tail. Don’t know who would buy them for 250 grams for $3.99 to eat… My thoughts were to lightly dye them green and use it as fish bait. Closest thing to Gammarus Shrimp( if not already..LOL) Watch out Perch !!LOL

I bought some reel weeds last week on ebay. The only problem is that I only bought the foliage, I did not get the weight, the float, the line or the spool with my purchase.

I’m pretty sure the “real” Reel Weeds can’t be purchased that way but you never know what you’ll find on Ebay. Let us know how this product works for you once you get them out on the ice.

When I first seen them in an ad a couple of years ago, just had to get one set but decided to get 2 instead. Use it primarily for Perch in some Lakes here in Ab. Sandy or muddy flats with little to no structure. Although takes abit of time to set out 10 strands, I set it up in a V-shape. Usually setup at the tip as it will act as a funnel.
Definately draws the Perch in and keeps them around longer. Downfall is sometimes Pike will utilize the Weeds as an ambush point….
Definately well worth my investment IMO

Myself, went with Clam Nanook. Did some mods to it. Put in Boat seats so I can use it a large one man or still as a 2 Man. Hardware for Hitches to the front and back. LED lites aross the top beam. Final touches was it install Reflectix to eliminate the condensation from the roof. Tested it out yesterday and happy to report that top of roof was bone dry!
Ran the Buddy Heater all day long and it was toasty. Would suggest for anyone with Flipovers that are not Thermal, to try out Reflectix. Bought a roll so now I can do the same to my Eskimo 1 man and 2 Man.
To all members, have a very Merry X-Mas and a safe and prosperous Hardwater Season!

Nice Vid! I’m currently running the Marcum VS560. Wanted to upgrade to a 825C but got spoiled with the Panning feature with Remote on the 560… Anyone personally know someone from Marcum? If so, ask when are they going put a Panning feature with the 825C…Just my thoughts
