I caught my biggest bass in Jan. swimming a jig. We were fishing the Kissimee chain in Florida. It weighed 11lbs. 13 oz. I was using a 1/4 oz. Team Supreme Rage jig with a Kalins grub for a trailer. What a thrill that was!

I fished the BFL Sat. also as a boater and made some wrong decisions early in the day. We locked up to pool 9 and fished some cut banks where I have caught good fish in the past but all we caught were short fish. I thought with the water dropping the way it had that the fish would pull out of the shallows. We locked back down to pool 10 about 11:30 and fished some super shallow water in the middle of the day and ended up with 3 keepers but one was a good one. 4lbs. 1oz. Big bass was 4lbs. 2oz. so I just got beat out of the big bass pot. I just ran out of time because we had to weigh in at 2:15. I debated with myself about staying in pool 10 but I guess hindsite is always easier. My coangler got 3 keepers also by fishing different baits than what I was using. It was the best he had done all year so he was happy.

I plan on fishing the BFL at Prairie this year. I like to stick around the Pool 9 and 10 area. Since we got the place at Prairie I don’t travel around like I used to. It’s too convienent to stay at Prairie. I do like Texas fishing in the cold months though. Good luck to you at Clinton. There are some big fish in the Savanna pool. The ride out of the lock at Clinton can be a wild one with all the boats taking off at once! I don’t know why they don’t take off from Savvanna. I guess there are more places to stay in Clinton.

Dave Hendricks and I think his partners name is Kowal won it. Ackley and Shriner got 3rd but I can’t remember who else got a check. The guys that got second had some really nice smallies. I think they had 6 that were over 16lbs. I know that there were a bunch of boats that went North to Lansing today. I was told that 2 friends of mine won the Bass World tourney today but didn’t hear the details. I saw one them driving through Praire and he told at an intersection that they had won.

My partner and I fished the Team Supreme at Praire today. It took over 18lbs. to win. They paid back 9 places. It took over 15 lbs. to get a check. We did get big bass though. It weighed 4.35lbs. There were two other ones weighed in over 4lbs. It was a fun day on the river!
