I’m not sure if it has the updated version of spot lock or not and no it doesn’t come with mounting plate. It does come with two Charging cords for the remote control
June 22, 2017 at 9:33 pm #1700493Saw the clip from Pepin trolling post about the Denver rig, never tried it but looks intriguing. Two questions:
1) are they legal on inland waters in MN?2) what speeds do you typically pull these at?
No it’s not legal on inland waters in MN
.8-1.6 MPH

January 10, 2016 at 6:29 pm #1591295I had the same thing happen to my solo I had them replace it once but did it again so I put a small zip tie on it. I wanted to use small hose clamp but couldn’t find one that small. You could also take a piece of tie wire and twist onto it just don’t twist to tight and cut the hose.
January 9, 2016 at 12:59 pm #1591012The later in March the better as more and more fish stage on the south shore and by the red river. The last two years I have gone around 20-25 and fishing has been great. Two years ago the ice was thick and all kinds of snow no worries at all about it going out early. Last year was a different story in the weeks leading up to the trip I was constantly looking at ice conditions due to warm temps in late February and early March. But all said and done when it was time for our trip a little cold front came in and froze up all the water that was on top of the ice. Now this year with the late start to winter it might be wise to do an early March trip a lot can happen from now till then and with the big cool down here I’m sure they will be making lots of ice but there is some catching up to do from years past
January 9, 2016 at 12:48 pm #1591010There great rods I just with the didn’t break so easily. I’ve had three tip break off on them right at the end. I just added a new tip to it and it’s good to go. The fraibil quick tips are great rods along with the fenwick rods and if you can afford it the TUCR’s in 28-32″ are sweet setups..
January 9, 2016 at 12:31 pm #1591005Bring two of every thing. I have been up there two times in the past two years. A good gps or navionics is a must to track your routes from the landing to your spots. The rods I used were tucr precision rods two 28″ and two 32″ never once did I feel they were under gunned to land the big greenbacks up there. If I were you I would pick up an 18″ extension. Another great trick for up there is to put a barrel swivel about a foot higher then the thickness of the ice. That way you know when it pops out of the water you know the fish is getting close to the bottom of the hole it will save you from loosing fish on the bottom of the ice. For baits I never had a whole lot of luck on the live targets. They seemed to like the # 5 ripping raps in Helsinki color blue and silver black and silver. For spoons gold slender spoons in all sizes and Vmc tumblers and tingler spoons again all sizes the orange tiger striped and pink tiger were the hot color last year. Up grade the hooks to a bigger size and stout hooks. Start with the bigger baits and if you keep getting lookers change out baits and down size..
Don’t waste your time if your not marking fish in the first 20 minutes move and when you move its 3/4 mile moves not 200 yards your just wasting your day on small moves. When you land on the fish you most likely can stay on them all day. If it slows and your with a group of people have one guy stay behind and have the others move a few hundred yards away to try and find the fish. If the group finds them in the move and guy left behinds not getting fish have him move to the group something the guy left has the school come back and then it’s his job to get the group back. My big fish up there is a 29.5″ last year in one day my dad and I put 2-28″ 3-27″ and a dozen fish between 23-26″ on the ice along with the 15-19″ eaters.. A great web site to look at info is the Manitoba fishing forums. If you have any more questions just ask. I will do my best to answer them for youGood luck

January 16, 2015 at 12:31 pm #1498408same problem here both line pop off
had one fixed last year and still comes off will have to try some tie wraps and if thats not going to hold take it back inJanuary 11, 2015 at 9:39 pm #1495823Pros: no gas to mix/gas can to haul around
No smell to deal with in ice shacksCons: propane can needs to be kept warm
Have to haul around 1 lbs cans and dispose of them
And the cost of the augers are a on the higher side of the whole gas battery scaleIt all depends on what type of fishing you do. All the augers out there are great units.
January 11, 2015 at 8:48 pm #1495799Camera,knife,flashlight all the same trip to lotw. Also lost a lantern a few years back
January 4, 2015 at 7:15 pm #1491953Reel magic helps slow the freeze down but like others said a one man shack and heater is the best option.
December 31, 2014 at 12:37 pm #1490427My wife and I were up at wigwam from the 18-23 and fishing was ok. We ate fish up there two nights in a row and came home with our limits also. Down size is the key smallest flyer, tingler, slender and chubby darter you can find in glow red, gold, and somtimes perch color worked too. Best luck for us was over by Morris gap in 23-24′ of water. Biggest sauger was 16″ biggest eye” was 22 1/4″. Get away from the groups and you should do fine.
P.s. The ice up there froze into jagged ruff messed up stuff this year a lot of the good in shore spots were hard to get to. You would drill a hole up to the gear box and chunks of slush ice chunks came up you hole all day. But fishing was also good there to. Marked lots of bait fish just under the ice also
December 28, 2014 at 6:37 pm #1489063Just use electrical tape on the first wrap on the cork back wrap it so the sticky side is up and not on the cork. Then on the next pass put sticky side to sticky side and you will not smear up the cork and make for an easy cut off job at the end of the year if you use the reel in the summer time also
