Well I picked up the Otter XTH Lodge last night. Got a killer deal when Cabela’s matched a competitors price and I had a Club card discount, price helped me make up my mind on going with the Otter. Can’t wait to get it out and use it.

Glad you did, Im for sure you’ll like it. As I mentioned get the anchor adapter and while you’re at get extra anchors. There will be a time you’ll find that they are very useful, especially on windy days.

I’ve fished the resort. Very roomy, lighting is good. As far as material, its lighter, thinner than Eskimo but warmth is about the same. A little mr heater cook top heater set at med is more than enough to stay warm. Crank it to high if more heat is desire. I recommend buying the stake attachment tool from Eskimo. Make life a lot easier, especially when its freezing out and strong wind chill. As far as durability, only time will tell, haven’t used it enough yet, but I have the Eskimos quikfish 3i for 4 years now and I have never had zipper, Windows, seam issues.

I will be the black sheep. I love my FLX 28 and if I had a choice between the 5i and the FLX. I would get the FLX every time. Plus you have the LX7 already. That is just me.

X2….. as much as I like my lx7, i would rather fish with my flx28. Going 3rd season with every outing use. I have had lx3tc in the past and they just dont hold up. I can only the assume the lx5i is the same. Long story short, digital lx7, dial, flx28.

Wished most flasher would still do that. Nowadays its more of quantity over quality. My flx28 is 2 years old with extensive use fishing mainly outside and has never had any issues yet. IMO if I can 5 years from the unit before any repairs that is good enough for me.

Deals come and go, it just depends who you talk to. At the ice show within the same store, different rep will give you different prices. You just have to talk to each one.

2 plus year old lx7 don’t have issues. It’s best to not do any updates. I’m still running 3.0 or something.

At the end of the hole thing is on the auger not the powerhead. I have a lazer xpress that doesn’t grab the bottom, cuts slightly slower but I am happy with it. My solo is faster but I pretty much have to brace myself every time it goes through.

Bought mines on friday, all you have to do is call the office and pay over the phone. They will supply you with a confirmation number. I haven’t bought one for the past 15 years and they still have me on file.

Just keep both, although the noise on the flx28 is so minimal I have no problems with it, as long as I know it’s working correctly. Lx7 is nice but I have not found the use for mines for 2 seasons. I let my kids use it.

Will a new power head fit on an older Lazer bit?

All strikemaster powerhead and drill bits are made the same to fit. This does not include the hand auger

They are still under contract with the new motor supplier they changed to after the rapala merger. We have had at least a dozen units go back from Manitoba, some on their second and third times for the same motor issue. They will not acknowledge it and do a good faith recall, and their reputation is getting pounded for it.

From a business stand point a contract means nothing, especially when it’s dealing with quality. I work for an aerospace company and if we didn’t meet our customers demands regardless of the terms, we loose that contract.
I may be speculating but marcum choose to stay with their vendors for a cost reason.

Menard is like $49. Never saw it cheaper. Getting one too as the 20# is getting to my back. I normally fill mine at uhaul, $15 for empty 20# . I assume it will be less for a 11#er

I like the predator better because its lighter feels more comfortable when fishing or moving around. Plenty warm.

It’s the motor that needs to be replaced. If I can get 5 years of use before it breaks I’m happy. The same reason why I switch to vexilar. Yes, I to love marcums technology but their quality sucks. 2 lx3tc broken in one season, Im done because thats $800 right there. I have my flx28 for 2 seasons now with extensive use and fishing mostly outside and it works fine.
Yes, you probably open a can of worms mentioning marcum on here as some will find it anal rather than informational

Caught nothing but 3″ perch all day for 3 days. We moved around but there was no sign of a single sun fish or crappies. Even in the spots we were referred to. The sleeper we stayed was the worst ever. I can catch better fish in the metro then pokegama. It was the worst experience and will never recommend that place we stay to anyone.

Good choice of blank… I’ve tried others and did not like them. Like the baby bears porridge, the aldente is just right. I build my own rods as well and use only them.

If light weight is key then use a guide instead of a tip. I prefer a guide over a tip, yes it is harder to wrap but I find that if I wrap the tip guide first its easier to align the rest.

Well, if that slight lag matters to you then the flx28 is the right choice. But again the lx9 is a great unit. I have the lx7 and flx28 but I prefer my flx28. Thats just me. Keep what you like. GL

Needs new blades because it may have been ruin during sharpening. Or resharpen by a professional. Depending on price it may better just buying new ones, if its a pitch the blades will not cut regardless if it’s new blades or not.

Its probably why I prefer the aldente over tucr or tb noodle. Built my own for $60 with recoil guides

Try it well, depending where you bought it returning it can be difficult. I didn’t like the feel of the hardwater series and returned it, the guys at tb weren’t very happy about it. Tags and everything still on never wored it fishing.
