The Kahr CM9 in 9mm is a quality compact piece in your price range and has a good trigger too.

My take is this is a political move aimed (no pun) at the voters in the middle. My guess is that large majority in the middle won’t care to not have access to AR’s or high capacity magazines.

I believe that too – Politicians capitalizing on a tragedy not much different than the media. APPALLING

Two of the farms that I hunt in southern WI planted numerous acres of radishes as a cover crop to both help with recycling soil nutriets as well as breaking up the soil. I was suprised when the deer did not spend much time in the endless acres of radishes during the fall. I believe that perhaps they may need to freeze to be more palatable as deer are eating them now that snow cover is on the ground.

I think “good buck” and “nice mass” was a bit of an understatement. Great buck! with HUGE mass!

There are a lot of great choices for broadheads these days. It is pretty tough to argue against succes like that. Good shootin’!

I buy inexpensive beef suet (fat) at the local butcher shop and mix that with the clean meat. It comes out excellent.

Without pics it sounds like another fish story. That is truly incredible. Kudos to them for rescuing the deer.

That’s pretty neat. Millions of tines get broken off every year in North America yet how many folks actually find one? That’s sort of a trophy itself.

Better that buck leaving a present than the candy bar bandit.

Could be wolves up in that area also. I doubt if she was wounded that much she would have gotten away from them though. Likely a misplaced shot.

I agree on the bad shot. Most wolf/coyote attack pics show an injury lower on the hind quarter

Agreed, coyote / wolf bites typically lower on back legs & butt -bad shot.

Wood arrows not unlike wood fishing lures, are frustratingly inconsistent. A good group of arrows can be had of course, if you buy enough of them. That said pinpoint accuracy will likely suffer due to variance in spine and straightness as well as technology afforded in modern gear so in order to get it done consistently, shots on deer need to be closer.

Slick trick mags or grizz trick 2’s. Massive blood trails,Fly like darts and tough as heck. Not to mention, one of the sharpest heads out there by far

X2! I just switched back to 100Gr Slick Trick Magnums after using mechanical heads for many years without incident until I stuck a big boy in the shoulder blade. You could argue the fault was mine for hitting the shoulder blade, and you’d be right, but a Slick Trick or a Muzzy would have punched through – the mechanical did not.

I’ll be heading South in Wisconsin to hunt near Livingston. There’s a booner on the property adjacent… hope he chases a doe right by me

I can see your point and not knowing a portion was bad might cause a knee jerk reaction from me too. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I would prefer that they did what they did rather than return bad meat back to me.

I took last week off to hunt…and ended up having to work every day but Sunday – so much for vacation. Yesterday I got up at 3:30am and made the 1.5 hour drive to my buddies farm and sat for 5 miserable hours unable to move as two mature does and a nubber bedded down 20 yards away. A coyote snuck in and ran right into them, in which case they ran 50 yards and bedded down 30 yards on the other side of me. After another hour, they finally moved on. Cold and stiff,I got down and re-located to another stand for the afternoon. It was a short 20 minute wait when this 9 point offered me a broadside shot at 40 yards. High Country Iron Mace & 100gr Slick Trick Magnum DL’d him and he went maybe 15 feet.

Wild Parsnip gets you when the plant breaks and the juice inside touches your skin. It is a “photo-sensitive” meaning when UV light hits the infected part it causes the reaction. If infected part is not covered it will react with the light, blister, fester hurt, and scar. We called it creeping crud when we were kids as the wounds would fill with pus, burst and spread. The BEST way to really get rid of it on your property is not through spraying with chemicals unless the plants are young and growing, but by wearing long sleeves, long pants, and gloves and pulling the weeds by hand. I have done acres of the stuff by hand and it sucks, but is effective.
