There’s no fish anywhere around there. Just keep driving…

Grouse, you ever been to Holman’s Table in St. Paul at the airport? Never been disappointed down there. Have been to Moscow on the Hill a couple of times this fall and was good too, but holy hanna it’s heavy food. El Cubano and Taco N Madre over in WSP/West Side are good too. Those are some of our favorites along with others already mentioned in the area.
That’s not personal Erik, couples do stuff, simply gave an idea to what any fisherman would love to receive. Take it or leave it, I’m giving hope
I’m not in a position to disagree that any fisherman would love an intimate gift from their sweetie…I’d be taking.
TBH, some lingerie and a $200 scheels gift card between the t!ts is a better idea.
Good grief, Deuces. That’s fairly personal alright!
Guys shouldn’t buy their lady purses, and women shouldn’t buy their men fishing rods. It can be a very personal decision, just sayin!
Nonsense – she listed out some pretty nice stuff. I’m okay with a double standard here disallowing purse purchases, but not ice fishing gear from the lady.
IMO, unless really severe, Degenerative Disc Disease symptoms can largely be improved without the need for surgical or prescription medication options. Just need to make it part of your daily routine or you’ll just get caught in a unnecessary cycle.
Sorry Capt and others – Like a vehicle seat, not sure a wallet really has as much to do with the root cause either. Just something that feels uncomfortable that then tells your brain to send a pain “reminder” for you to not sit on it…I’m calling myth on this one. I know many who will make this claim too, but it wasn’t caused by the wallet. Well, not directly anyway .
Man Buzz – hate to hear that. Sorry.
I’ve had a similar struggle with a tweaky back for years after a water skiing incident when I turned 40. Finally got sick of it and started an exercise app a couple of years ago. When you can, adding a stretching and light exercise routine to other treatments can make a massive difference.
I really want to like my wing shooters but I just can’t. I gave them 2 hunting seasons to try and like them but they’re just too heavy. I put on a lot of miles over grouse and pheasant season and that requires a lighter boot.

I prefer waterproof trail shoes for upland hunting for this reason. They won’t last multiple seasons, but I have a cycle for my shoes once they reach a certain age anyway. By year two they become hunting or beater shoes for yard work, etc. That and it seems like I have more agility and less noise when walking in the woods.
Going to hit up some RGMA action this weekend again. Birds are well conditioned so will be doing some crashing through the thick stuff to hopefully get close enough for a shot.
Don’t know about insurance, but just wanted to add- had my 6 year old lab’s teeth cleaned professionally(a year ago) and it cost $500.
Nutty.
Dang! Yeah that’s nutty cheap from what I’ve been seeing.
Must not have needed to knock the dog out. If they did, I would like to know where you brought it please! I’ll pay $500 any day of the week and twice on Sundays…
Yeah, John. Seen it in action first hand in our one building that isn’t sealed up as well. Wife was using Irish Spring thinking it kept them out, but we later read that it was actually the opposite. They gobbled about a bar a month for a bit there. Killed quite a few, but several croaked in the building only to rot and stink until we found them of course…
I store my Ice Castle outside, so not in a building. However it sits in a wooded area I have been using Irish Spring soap bars, I cut them into pieces and put them in small bowls all around inside. So far so good.
John, the Irish Spring technique can actually attract mice because they like to eat the lard that the soap bar is made of. It does kill them if they eat enough then you may have some carcasses laying around rotting too. If it seems the soap is keeping them away they probably haven’t found a way in yet which is good of course!
You bet, John! Victory has been a great shop when I’ve needed it even if you are on the other side of town. Holler if you’re going to be headed up towards the Bowstring area. I try to get up every other weekend or so.
It would make sense to limit wake boats to manmade water bodies only and prohibit them from State and National Park use imo. It’s also fair to say that we who operate other types of water craft do plenty of damage as well. We should be mindful of that especially when under 10′ of water.
^^^Great point mojo.
My wife runs a rural Emergency Room, and has commented on a significant increase in the number of chainsaw injuries now that electric is becoming more common. She equates it to the average person grabbing the conveinent, quiet saw and casually taking on tasks that still require safety equipment. Just because it’s relatively quiet doesn’t mean it is a shorts and sandals task. Chaps are a must if you are actually falling trees of any size no matter what the saw.
x10 Mojo and Bucky! Great reminder on the footwear too…never without safety toes! Don’t ask me how I know…and I knew better. Got away with it, but pooped my pants.
Waldo – I have 2 Stihl pro saws and would part with one if you’re interested. It’s a MS361 with almost new 18″ bar and chain. Also put in new drive sprocket, spark plug and air filter when I got it. Runs good. Just don’t necessarily need it and the 362. I’d let it go for less than I paid, but more than what that Echo 4920 sells for new. It is a better built piece of equipment and parts readily available though if you are handy and/or like to tinker with power saws. Quick look on the web looks like they hold value well too. PM me if interested.
Not to highjack the thread, but anyone have any idea how much a hunting lease may be worth? Asking because a young man recently inquired about it for our farm property in SE MN. Zumbrota area. Feel welcome to PM me if you have any experience with this. Thank you!
No judgements meant here. I’ve used many repellents and have a Thermacell lantern. However, all those chemicals are tough on our aquatic systems with cumulative effects. A no go around or on the water for me…
We’ve gotten used to wearing bug netting as the primary defense. Some of the other options mentioned look like more fun though!
Yeah. Sand flies have emerged…hate those more than anything else! Keep the slime out of the boat!
Hey Glenn! Water is up yeah. I’ve moved the dock twice now and the lift once. I did notice one or two trees that tipped due to saturated ground a couple of weeks ago. A bit drier this last week/weekend though.
Glad to hear you have power! Enjoy your stay and let me know next time you’re going to be up there. I’ll be back around the 19th probably.
Yummy! These are great Werm. Always helpful to reference if you are looking for a good burger.
Keep an eye on that cholesterol level bud!
I would agree a person making their living on the water could be considered a professional. However, in my opinion, another criteria is whether they are active in the fishing community and respectable, contributing to the next generation. A person’s character is as important as their knowledge and experience.
Had some cuttin to do this past week eh Glenn?! Hope you took all those picklers from Bowstring!
I’ll be up Wednesday this week if you’re still there.
Holy smokes! So sorry guys and relieved you’re okay. Equally relieved for the other car’s occupants too!
Nice crops, Mike. I’ll be up at the cabin on Bowstring all next week. It’s probably 45 minutes over there from our place. Maybe have to meet up with you boys one day. Where you staying/launching?
Better beer = anything not out of Saint Louis.
Maybe you’ll like the Premium Lights better next time Glenn!
Awesome! Always good times at Bowstring!
Glad you had some success guys. Hope to get myself out there this weekend/next week. Let me know next time you’re coming up.
Hey now! I was only on #3 for the day and you turned a GB Premium down for a urine Golden
Good times indeed Glenn and thanks for the smoked fish! Saturday was a tough one out on the lake for sure. Looks like rained all night up there again and heavy rain potential on the way tomorrow into Weds. Should help with the lake levels. I’ll be back up Thursday or Friday. Have a good week up there and stay dry!
