Im making chowder the first chance I get. We have been looking for another way to make panfish and that sounds great. Fried again last night but I am not complaining.

Been a bit active up I-35 north the last few days.

Got a solid 6″ of snow Saturday to Sunday AM. Then this AM it was -10, and tomorrow night we’re supposed to get another 4″, with another 2-3″ on Friday night.
Then more nightly below zero stuff most of next week.

I hope this is not one of those years where all our snow comes in Feb/March/April.
I was really hoping for any early spring season for trolling out on Superior.

Sounds like sledding season is about to begin there!

I think we got around 3 inches here at my house. Maybe 4 tops, but its in that area.

Luckily your area is listed in your avatar so the rest of us know where that snow fell…..

It’s too early to tell what will/won’t happen with regard to tariffs. I don’t forsee them bringing about some huge major change to my day to day life, other than possibly pushing the prices for some goods even higher.

Things I agree with: Securing our borders, at least not completely burying our heads in the sand to things like fentanyl in our country

Things I disagree with: Thinking that tariffs will do anything to change a social issue – the demand for drugs is absurd and that’s the issue. We aren’t going to save people from fentanyl by taxing another country’s goods. The tariffs are moreso put in place to build a pot of income to help with some of Trump’s goals. As Rand Paul said…a tariff is nothing more than a tax. Period.

Pretty well said. I wish we could discuss ALL the other things President Trump has done in the last 2 weeks.

We are doing a python hunt in the Everglades. Started out as a guided experience last year, but not fulfilled by that. Pretty easy to DIY, rent a boat and bring a shotgun. Also, renting a Tacoma and running the dirt-roads in the boonies. Can internet scout on OnX ahead of time.

    Also catching a Panthers game.

Different stroke, but definitely falls under the exotic umbrella.

    That sounds Fun!

Markets are in turmoil after Trump announced a 30% tariff on $300 billion worth of Chinese imports, reigniting fears of a prolonged trade war.

The U.S. dollar skyrocketed to its highest level since 2005, while global stock markets plummeted in response to the escalating economic uncertainty.

Key Market Moves (9:30 AM EST)
    • Dollar Index (DXY): +2.3% (Highest since 2005)
    • S&P 500 Futures: -3.1%
    • Nasdaq 100 Futures: -3.8% (Tech stocks hit hardest)
    • Shanghai Composite: -4.1%
    • Brent Crude Oil: -5% to $72/barrel Why Markets Are Panicking
    • Currency Volatility: Yuan slumps 1.8%, Euro falls to $0.95 (20-year low)
    • Supply Chain Risks: Tech giants like Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia brace for disruptions
    • Inflation Concerns: Analysts warn tariffs could add 0.8% to U.S. inflation

Both Canada and China has vowed swift retaliation. This is fine. Everythings fine.

Maybe you should up the dosage of your TDR medication?

For small planter ponds like the ones I fished this morning we always use the same exact thing we use for bluegills. Small lures (tear drops, flies, etc) with waxies.

North Central Wisconsin has a 400 head elk heard. I have been through the area several times but not seen any. They have flashing road crossing signs for them!

So many times I have typed out a big quote response and it doesn’t take.
Its not like they can work on fixing things. This website is a dead end road and we are the only ones living on it.

There are a lot of resources and planning that go into maintaining sled trails. If this keeps happening that all goes away. Not to mention the rising cost of sleds. Might be a dying or niche sport.

An understanding of the lake. Either from soft water experience or a lake map.
Then start drilling. I usually drill a lot of holes. I drilled 3 holes Sat late afternoon on a lake I dont know well and landed ON TOP of them in 7 feet of water. It was ridiculous. Sometimes its nice to be lucky.

They close the drive down to the landing to vehicles. Long walk but permissible as far as I know.

Going backwards again instead of forward with snow cover.
It will be a miracle if we sled this year.

I don’t get out there much; from my experience there’s a <10% of doing well out there for <em class=”ido-tag-em”>crappie if you go to the community spots. Otherwise it’s 0-2 fish and a “you should have been here last week” kinda day.

This sums up my St Croix Ice fishing over many years. I remember one good outing.
I dont even try there anymore but it’s still appealing.

Sorel Glacier Boots for Woman are a very good choice. My wife has been wearing a pair for years snowmobiling and anything on the ice.

Every time I let our dogs out at the cabin I am worried about coyote or wolf.
We always go out with a flashlight and provide over watch at night.

I have little regard for mountain sledding so I dont watch the videos on purpose.
We have our own version of bad people sledding here. Just not this year and never on video.

When mine do freeze I like to heat the key. I HATE it when they freeze. Happens all the time on my snowmobile trailer that just sits in the yard. I fashioned some plastic water bottles around them once and that worked pretty good but that wont work trailering. Like others said keep drowning them in lubricant/solvent.

I dont know the answer. Seems logical to avoid the risk but I know its hard on the family scrambling to take care of young kids. At the same time adversity is good for children. I grew up in Michigan and while we did have snow days, there was no such thing as cold days.
