I got out Sat for a while. One flush and one miss. Seeing tracks in the fresh dusting up there was cool.
It was interesting hunting in 8 degrees but not a problem. The old girl worked great. However it was always unnerving when she worked out of site in the vast woods since I cannot call her back. (deaf) Wish I would have hunted her on the last day of the season (yesterday) but I had enough. I doubt she will be able to hunt next year but who knows. I said that last year.

I went from an old ion to an E40. It is AWESOME. Incredibly lite, powerful and fast. I have had it since last year and I still have fun just drilling holes.
Disclaimer-I have not used it on super thick ice yet.

Im betting you wont want to. The whole unit is freakishly light already.
But you are probably thinking of saving some space.
You are going to love it.

I’ve been a hard core sledder as in owning my own for over 30 years. Ridden my whole life. Most years we weren’t riding in Dec unless traveling far. Seems like most winters started off like this with riding late in the season for several weekends. Last year was unique. I hope we don’t see that again this season.

Probably palomar for me too but I wouldnt be afraid of a clinch knot in that scenario. Especially a double clinch which would be easier with that line because you wouldn’t need as many twists. With coated stuff two granny knots would hold.

Ends on Sunday in Sconny. I may make it out again. My 13 yo is hunting well and I have a feeling she won’t be in another year. I really don’t want to see her end.

Ill be hitting it this afternoon in Iowa. I dont have high expectations but Im taking my 13 old pointer. This should be interesting. She functioned well Grouse hunting 3 times this fall so Im giving it a try. Ill keep her out of the thick stuff.

My snow blowers including a Cub Cadet and Troy Built will only do that if the choke is adjusted wrong. Im certain they should always run smoothly.

I went for 4×4 drive in the truck and Sharon’s meme summed it up nicely.

I just bought gas for the snow blower. That should take about 2 to 3 inches off the overall snowfall.

Great question Gavin. If my Marcum LX-5 were to die tomorrow Im not sure what I would replace it with. My old Zercom is retired but outside of noise rejection it will still show bottom, my bait and fish which is all I use them for.

If its a small lake and that is the spot to go I would drill my own holes a certain distance from the fisherman, regardless of his hole spread. I drill holes spreads as far as 100 yards when searching. That is way too far to claim as an area.

I aspire to live my whole life without battery powered clothing.
But I have to admit I have been eyeballing those heated jackets/vests for my wife.

I do love to see fresh tracks in the snow! The bummer is we will only have one dog since both of mine are out of service.

Im seeing 36 for a couple days next week around here and at my cabin.
Maybe the snow cover from Thu will change all that a few degrees?

I despise what drones have become. Especially on the battlefield. I hope some successful drone defenses are created soon.

For me, Scheels has taken over for what Cabela’s once was.

It’s kind of sad to go into the Woodbury (MN) Cabela’s and the ice fishing section is regulated to the old Bargain Cave with an adjacent corner area outside the cave where shelters are on display. Kinda makes the hobby feel insignificant.

I would love to have Scheels closer but my wallet wouldn’t.
