Hi Guys. Sorry for the late post. Been a busy weekend. Did well on the rock this weekend. Caught 3 nice walleyes. 2- 20″ and a 16″. All males. Still milking. The best bite was in the afternoon and I was using a 3/8 oz pink nuckleball jig at my brothers (wallyliner) suggestion. Thanks Bro!!! Virtical jig was the best results. I also got to meet Bola and Upnorth who was doing better than I was. Upnorth limited I think. Nice to meet you both finally! Hope to see you out there again.
Well that is all for now. Good luck to all!
P.S. Hope you had a good birthday Jeff!
April 7, 2004 at 1:23 pm #300068Was able to “sneak” out for a few hours with my nephew yesterday. Not much to report. Had a few hits under the Newville bridge on an orange “zone” with a minnow tip. Moved to Blackhawk Island and had a few light hits but wasn’t able to hook um, even with a stinger. Tried pink 3/8 oz lead head with a blue and white 2″ twister and had a couple hits on that. Just patiently waiting for these walleyes to really take off. It was still a beautiful day for a boat ride on the lake. My nephew loved it. Just wish I could put him on some fish! Good luck everyone!
March 31, 2004 at 1:14 pm #298969Why is there a $3.00 increase in fishing license this year??? Has the DNR given any reason for the largest increase in years?
March 30, 2004 at 1:54 pm #298876Wallyliner and I went out yesterday. It was a discouraging day to say the least. We ventured up river. We saw alot of people fishing from shore. I didn’t see them pull anything in while we were there. I did see one guy leave with a nice wallyeye on a stringer. They were throwing jigs along the wall. We went further up river to the bark river outlet and there were a few boats there also. Everyone had the same story and question “where did they go???” Wallyliner managed to boat a nice 18incher at 7am but the was the only one we boated. Good job Bro! Finally got off the river at 4pm.
March 25, 2004 at 3:23 am #298175She had a great time, Jeff! she hasn’t been fishing for a few years so it was nice for her to get out and try it again As for her out fishing me yesterday, she said she wouldn’t tell anyone.
March 24, 2004 at 1:06 pm #298040Good morning all! Yes it is true! Wallyliner had to rescue us 1/2 mile from the boat landing. Thax Bro! Why couldn’t the van break down AFTER fishing and not on the way to go fishing??? Oh well. 4 hours and $100 later we were able to make it back out. My lady’s first time out this year(she even played hooky from work) We all managed to boat a few walleyes and enjoyed the rest of the beautiful day that was left. My brother and I talked to two other guys that limited out further up river. So they are starting to snap FINALY!!! We had our best bite in 12 to 14 ft. of water on a 3/8 oz pink lead head with an orange twister tail. All this rain we had last night should warm up the river. Looking forward to the “big bite” soon. Now that my van is fixed, i should be able to make it to the boat landing this time lol So, full live wells and coolers gang! Cya!
March 23, 2004 at 12:08 pm #297909Slow bite yesterday. The windy was coming right up the river so boat control was challenging to say the least. The fish are still biting short. Brought up a couple minnows with no skin left on them. Time to invest in some stinger hooks I think! Anyway it was worth going out and seeing wallyliners dog, Jetta, control the trolling motor. Today sounds like it is shaping up to be a good day to fish(is there ever a bad one?) Keep them live wells and coolers full!!!
March 21, 2004 at 2:34 pm #297678We were out from 1pm to 5pm yesterday. Losta boats, lotsa wind! Talk about a wind burned face! Ouch! Marked alot of fish. In some spots they were stacked like cord wood. The bite was slow. Managed to boat a few. I can’t believe the size of the saugers this year! 16 and 17 inchers. Sure are fun to pull in. We were getting the hits mostly on 1/8 oz pink lead head with an orange twister tail(thax bro!)
Just a word on safety. As I stated earlier, there were a lot of boats out there yesterday. In some spots it was pretty crowded. We must have a regard for safety for the boaters around us. I had a guy come with in 5 ft of me putting out a big wake. with foolish moves like that, someone is going to end up in the drink. So fish safe all.
