I also use the AW2 Plano case. It works great for my inline reels, I think I have 6-7 combos in it plus room for a spare reel, also some reel maintenance tools and lube. Few extra spools of line. My rod and reels don’t move in it. I paid 60 for mine a few years ago.

My experience with UHaul was the same, bought a brand new tank at Menards, and went to uhaul and they said I had to get it certified, not sure how to do that though. I want to get one of the small 5 lb tanks.

Hokah Co-op fills my 11 pound tank, great people to deal with and not far from some good early ice. ;)

AK Guy did this battery happen to fall, drop or jarred? Lithium batteries have a circuit board, that is delicate.

    Cheers from Alaska.

Called there, all they have is the 30. Thank you.

I checked craigslist as well, Monticello is out of my way, but I see Clancy’s has one there.

    Malmo Market has a flx30.

    Not sure about Portside.

Did not see any at 65 bait when I drove through a few weeks ago.

    The search continues.

The best thing about these boots are they are vinyl inside and out. If your feet get sweaty or wet you just take a paper towel and wipe them out. Toss on a fresh pair of socks and you have warm/dry feet again. A lot of people complain about the weight of them but they are not that much heavier than the Baffin.

Yeah, I have had Baffin’s, and good luck on drying them out if you plan on fishing the following day… I use a boot dryer, and if you get sweaty feet, they hold LOTS of moisture, therefore they get cold quickly on day two if not 100% dried out. Like Rodworks stated, you can dry a pair of Mickey boots out in 2 minutes with a paper towel. Not saying Baffin’s are not good boots, just not great for daily wear, in extreme cold temperatures, I know this as I work in the oilfields in northern Alaska the last 22 years. I can wear my mickeys without socks, and my feet stay warm in -50 ambient temps. Yes they may weigh a few grams more than other options, but they are still easy to drive pickup with versus my old Baffin’s that would touch the both pedals no matter what I did, I threw those away after 4 uses. My Mickey’s I have two pair, one is 14 years old to me, the other are only 4 years old to me, I keep one pair in Alaska and the other in Minnesota.

Mickey AKA Bunny boots, cant go wrong with them, always keep a persons feet warm, even a person with poor circulation. Long lasting, I have had mine for 14 years, I have two pair. Tried, tested and true, by the American military.

one more question… anyone know if a buddy heater (standing upright) fits in the otter medium monster box?

The Big Buddy Heater will fit inside the Otter Monster Box laying on its back.

    Kris,

The front otter box on your ATV, How much and what do you fit in there? I am thinking if I get that, and put a battery in it for a GPS Fish Finder, would it work?

No plan to ever run tracks, but would be potentially having a person sit with me and then pulling a sled of gear and potentially a few kids behind )

I am pretty sure the 450 could handle that. I went with a 700, for plowing snow, track in the future, and trail riding out west.

I cant speak for the 450, I hear it is a great dependable rig though, would be perfect for an ice fishing rig.

The 700 is a BEAST, no problem towing or plowing snow, and its got enough power that pulling the front tires off the ground is not an issue.

I actually just picked up a trek 60 from wally world the other night for 33 bucks. I’m rather impressed with it. Ordered a cover and hitch off Amazon. I had the smallest otter offering and my stuff always tipped out of it. I think I’m gonna like the 60 since its a little longer and a little deeper.

I have been eyeing up the 75, I like that it is deeper. How do the runners seem quality wise?

Yaktrax and Ice Trekkers are basically the same, yaktrax is the sporting goods side of the parent company implus, while Ice Trekkers is the industrial side.

Ice Trekkers, I work on Alaska’s North Slope Oilfield, Ice Roads, we use these, cant go outside without them on. I have pairs at home that I use ice fishing, they will last for years, as long as you take care of them, as in don’t wear them on grating, don’t stomp down on sharp objects…

To each their own though, there are other brands, but I prefer these. I have brought home pairs for family.

For the same price, I would consider a Polaris north star edition ranger on tracks, with plow and still have enough cash left over to buy sled with flip over to pull behind it…. but that is just my two cents.

    Kris,
Is that a 20lb propane stuffed in the corner…or smaller ?

It is a 5# tank that I bought from Fleet Farm a few years back, but I also have a 1# tank shoved in front of that for a back up on those REALLY cold days. Still have room for my FL-20 and my 7.5 Engel bait cooler in there as well. I love this Monster Box!

Wish I would of went with the 5lb tank, I have the 11lb, works great for what I need, but would of been nice to have the 5lb to fit in the monster box.

    Thanks for the photos!
