So James can a guy take a tracked UTV across the islands snow trails like you did with the snowmobiles?

I assume so but honestly I’m not 100% sure. I sat here for a bit and tried to recall if I’ve ever seen a tracked UTV on the trails up in the islands and I don’t recall ever seeing one. I don’t want to throw out bad info so my suggestion is to call http://www.sunsetlodgeresort.com/ and ask for Bret. He’s a wealth of info and will definitely point you in the right direction.

    Ill do that. Thanks.

If you have a Smartphone take a look at Navionics. I bought the $10 version from the google play store and you get unlimited maps. It works great for me and I highly recommend it.

They say they will last as long as a snowmobile track. So like everything it is how you take care of them. Keep them adjusted properly and greased they will be fine. They say driving on a road is better then a mowed lawn. Mine are made for 4 seasons however I will only be using them in the winter. you can get just the tracks to replace as well so not as expensive the second time if someone really uses them a lot. I have over 40 miles on mine and they are still like new, with even the tag on them yet.

I got some new Camoplast tracks for a Gator for under $4500 with a $150 rebate directly Camoplast. I visited Camoplast at the ice show and they gave me a rebate coupon if I bought them within 30 days of the show. Best price around. Atvtracks.com

The tracks also cost more than buying 3 or 4 snowmobiles

    Must be OLD snowmobiles.

A UTV/ ATV with Tracks can be run all year long, and the traction and pulling power, is unreal! Of course you have 4 wheel drive. I have pulled out many trucks on the lakes this year and helped a strained guide. I have also helped move fish houses of those that were stuck. I would not trade them for anything right now.

But can I drive on those trails? I know some trails if you have a tracked ATV or UTV can be driven on if you put on Skis and then of course drive in 2 wheel drive, while on the snowmobile trails in MN.

Love a UTV that is tracked. Very functional and looks COOL as well.

I particularly agree with your observations on the mini-sd, but being a fat fingered fisherman also, I just don’t like mini-anything.

The Mini SD Card is a pain however I have been using the USB connection the manual don’t talk about. It took a couple of minutes to get it setup right on the PC but worked great to transfer the videos off.

The DVR is a little weird when it goes blank for a second just before recording and after recording. I would have thought that the Code could have spun another thread taking care of that. Play back is great and Deletion works great right on the unit itself.

I wish the cover would allow for a tight RCA Jack connection and USB Connection without exposing all the other components. I may order a new cover so I can modify one to do what should be done for this model.

Great Post!!! I used mine for over 10 hours one day and was still fine on the battery. One thing I did miss was the ability to adjust the screen for color like my 825. It is heaver but really no big deal with what you get. I have only used mine one weekend so far but there is plenty more on the way.
Best feature I like so far is the split screen.

Great piece of equipment I do not regret buying.

Question: Does it hurt the transducer when running it out of water with the clicking sound. I been putting it in simulator mode when moving or in camera only mode. It would be nice if the transducer was disabled in Camera only mode, but maybe I am missing something. Its new.

14″ is a little thin for the whole rig. Maybe have to pull it out with the wheeler…

Do you, or have you turned a 10″ bit with it? I believe it has the composite gears and I wonder how it would turn a big bit?

    I have both a 8 and 10. Haven’t had a problem with either.

I have a older Strike Lite and the only problem I have had is it starts hard. Not sure what to do. Whats it is running I love the thing.

I have zero since I lost them all in a tragic hot air balloon crash last year. It was a really sad tale.

Wow the same thing happened to me.

What about the Ion on thicker Ice? Seems like the auger is a little short but maybe not.

What’s the thickness of the ice. I would like to bring up my Ultimate Lodge with my 2500HD Diesel. Will that work yet? I should say I need a consistent 16″ of ice.

We have a lodge that is a few feet longer and just as heavy. I pull it with a 2500hd desiel. We don’t go out unless there is a good 16 inches of good ice. Before this I use the 4 wheeler and a trailer I built for towing it out.

I’ll try to find a picture, however I have a Lodge tandem axle and it is heavy. I pull it out on early ice with my 99 Polaris and have never had a problem with the belt. I built a trailer like mentioned above but a LOT smaller. You should see the people who stop to look at me when I am pulling it out. I do need chains on the rear so the front end could be a little heavier. Works great!! I am actually thinking of building these trailers for people who needs one.
