I have a 22 Yamaha 150. I called Yamaha last year to ask about lithiums for starting/house battery combo. I was told it’s a no go still for Yamahas.

The 2 vehicles I use conventional in I do 3k and he other 2 get motorcraft syn blend at 5k. One of my trucks doesn’t get driven much so only change about once a year. Been using mobile 5000 in it for the last 18yrs of owing it. My 16 f-150 is getting a new engine in it right now and I just asked the mechanic on his recommendation for oil. He said the motorcraft I have been using is fine and what he would recommend. He also said no more than 5k OCI especially with it being a turbo motor. I think checking oil levels and keeping that proper is just as important as using quality oil and changing it when recommended or sooner.

Regarding HB with their new xplore locators. I was told the only old tech they will link to are minnKota TM’s. For that reason I will stay with garmin. They may be always coming out with new stuff but at least most of the older stuff is compatible with the new stuff. For example an older 93sv can be used with the new LVS34 ducer.

2 of my boys have browning x bolts in 7mm-08. I have a tikka 270. Both are nice rifles and very accurate. My experience with them is very limited as we only hunted in a rifle zone a couple years but my oldest son has hunted out at his girlfriends place the last 2yrs and got a doe and buck with his rifle and neither went far. I think it’s a great caliber and if you reload should have lots of options. This is the pic I got last year from my son when he shot his buck

I have never needed an extension except for in the wheel house but one year I had the old jiffy buried to the power head before it punched through. I bet another inch and I would have had to go home since I didn’t have an extension at that time.

So far in 2 1/2yrs and 20k mikes of owning this truck I have had about 14k worth of warranty repairs.

Holy smokes. What are you driving if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s a 2016 f-150 3.5L eco boost. We bought it with 88k now at 108k. We have had a turbo coolant pipe leak, drive shaft replaced, timing chain cover and valve cover gaskets done, front axle seals and now the new motor. If the warranty wouldn’t have covered the timing chain and valve cover gaskets I wouldn’t have done those since they weren’t leaking that bad but I bought the warranty so I was going to use it. The other repairs were needed regardless.

The ford motor would have been $7500 for the motor with a 3yr 100k warranty the one warranty is paying for is $4500 and warranty until our coverage expires is how is was worded to me. Those are just motor prices not job totals. I could pay the extra for the ford motor and have the warranty but I decide to just pay my $100 deductible and look into another extended warranty to cover more than just the motor for hopefully the same or less cost. I wasn’t told anything about a cap on coverage but at the rate this truck is going I may find out soon.

Earlier I said my truck was in for timing chain issue. Long story short it needs a new motor. My Zurich extended warranty is covering it but they will only do a reman motor with warranty until my plan expires this October instead of the ford motor with warranty that my mechanic wanted so I will be looking into another extended warranty for this truck if I keep it. Route 66 has been mentioned here and my credit union sells it and my mechanic recommends them as well so I will be looking into that. So far in 2 1/2yrs and 20k mikes of owning this truck I have had about 14k worth of warranty repairs. I have come out way ahead and will probably be buying some sort of extended warranty from now on with used vehicle purchases.

Sorry no recommendations for local but my son went to Texas a few years ago for a hog hunt. They hunted mostly at night and used green lights since none of them had night vision optics. I think the success rate is a lot better at night and depending on regulations that may narrow down places as well if you are not setup to hunt them at night or can’t use artificial lights.

My wife has some muck boots but I don’t remember the model. They are ok but she prefers her alpha burly’s in 1600g for ice fishing and hunting.

I bought a Zurich extended warranty through the dealer when I bought my current truck. It was about $2600 and is a 3yr/36k with a $100 deductible. This is the first time I have bought an extended warranty due to thinking they were all scams but the cost of the warranty was cheaper than some of the major problems it covered. So far it has covered a drive shaft($1k) front axle seals, valve cover gaskets, timing chain gasket($2,400) and now the truck is back in for a timing chain. I haven’t heard back on if it’s done but the mechanic said the warranty will cover it. He also said Zurich has been very good and easy to deal with. If I didn’t have a claim I could get some money back if I got rid of the truck before the warranty expired(pro rated) for me the warranty has paid for itself but I have heard many horror stories as well. I would say not all are bad but you need to do your research.

My brother is a well known tattoo artist in our area. Unfortunately, tattoo artists do not get health insurance.

    Why doesn’t he buy it?

Because that would be considered adulting jester

My wife is self employed and buys her own health insurance. It’s not a fun thing to pay for but has to be done.

There is/was a winter access on pig lake which may get you onto whitefish depending on snow conditions. It is about a mile from the fire station on 16 if heading to crosslake. Otherwise you could try calling some of the resorts and see if they will let you access the lake from there.

Anyone using a Minnkota precision 440 pc on these ? Not the PCL… There’s mixed reviews on if the PC will work on lithiums on the agm setting.

I talked to an Amped outdoors rep about this as that’s the charger I have and he said it was ok to use the AGM setting to charge their lithiums but you may not get a full 100% charge. I went 24v for my trolling motor and have a Yamaha outboard so I can’t run a lithium house battery with my motor but when I need a new house battery I may go with a FLA battery for the motor and lithium for everything else.

I’m with Karl no desire to travel for vacation. Hunting or fishing trip maybe but the wife and I are happy doing our own thing with the kids and their activities. Last year my parents went to Florida and wanted us to come with all expenses paid and this year is Texas same all expenses paid. We have declined both times. Just not our thing.

Another vote for the silicon tape. Also cheaper and can do more reels than the stuff marketed for reels.

There is an access on clambshell lake that is owned by the army corps of engineers that I use on occasion. It used to be free then 2yrs ago they completely redid the whole access. New ramp, dock parking lot and made it really nice but now it’s $5 a day or a season pass to launch. I would rather pay a little more in boat registration if it helps maintain and improve lake access’s and keep them free.

One thing I learned when using the rack on a big buddy heater is to not put your can or soup pot to close to the handle of the heater. The heat radiates and melts the handle. My bad.

Ha I have done this as well! Just gives a story to tell when people see my heater.

X3. The fins on the top of mine are all melted from having some foil wrapped brats too close one time.

Not sure what cambria counter tops are but I have a thin(3/16 or so) sheet of plastic I put on the kitchen table in the event I need to clean fish in the winter. My wife also helps with the process. B-man I am jealous of your set up though and wish I could do something like that at home.

I just looked at the pole. I think it’s a summit pole. Is that ok to use in open water or should I still look into the brew city?

Do I need a different pole for use in open water? I was hoping to use the current pole and just get a mount for it. I will try to get a picture of the pole when I get home tonight.

No flu shots for anyone in our house. Wish I had known about a poison ivy shot when I was younger. Ended up in the hospital because of it one year.

I have a K-drill and SM 40v lite. Got the SM after seeing how much faster it was and went 10in for the wheel house. I don’t think there really is a bad choice for electric augers now. It all comes down to personal preference but it does seem that they are constantly changing and coming out with better every year.

530 to 630 is sleeping way in. Even on those ole long nights.

It’s not about the wake-up time, I’m up around then regardless, it’s the Dad’n part that is the struggle. Parenting hungover is not something I’m interested in for a bunch of reasons.

That’s what got the ball rolling for me as well and after awhile I realized I didn’t miss drinking that much and just sort of quit.

Was never a big drinker then got to the point I could take it or leave it. Now I just don’t drink by choice. I will say we do need snow though.

Seems odd. Not a lot of people calling for restrictions on Autos or at least a background check to buy one. What, No red flag warning laws needed on deadly item like an auto? They is just no way you can stop Evil people from doing evil things in this world.

Europe tried with very strict gun laws and banning guns in certain parts of the country. All the criminals did was started to use knives then they put a size restriction on knives to combat that issue. Sometimes common sense isn’t too common.
