Just talked to a guy today that was on LOW last weekend and he said there was 34” of ice and they were getting some colder weather so should stick around for a while.

I’m super happy to see the High School trap leagues. With all the crazy in the country involving guns, its refreshing that kids and guns can come together in a sport that’s worthwhile. I’ve watched a local league shoot and these young fellas can make some serious dust happen. Kids on the water and at the range are kids not on the streets causing trouble.

My boy was sad he couldn’t join <strong class=”ido-tag-strong”>bass league this year, between baseball and trap league that eats up almost every night of the week. I told him baseball is more important then <em class=”ido-tag-em”>bass league. We can fish any night we want

My youngest gave up travel baseball for trap this year. He still does school ball thou. I agree it’s hard to fit it all in and it’s easier to get out fishing anytime.

All 3 of mine are shooting this year. Oldest is a senior (2nd year) shooting a mossberg 500 and averages low 30’s. Middle is a sophomore (2nd year) and averages high teens to low 20’s. He shot a mossberg 500 last year and will shoot a franchi affinity 12g this year. My youngest is a freshman and this will be his first year and is shooting a franchi affinity 12g.

Live traps work well for me. I use suppressed 22lr but a pellet/bb gun works also when in the trap. I still get mice as well so I don’t think having them around is doing much good. Normally I wouldn’t care if they aren’t damaging things but they get into my covered boat and crap in the kids sandbox.

Little Rock by Rice is almost ice free from what I can see. Should be ice free by the weekend.

If it needs to be a 20g I am not much help but St. Cloud scheels has some LH franchi 12g in store. My oldest son shoots LH also and it can be a pain to find LH guns.

I remember fishing as a kid with a small tackle box and 1 fishing rod. That 1 rod had to do everything and all species. Dad didn’t have a boat so it was all shore fishing or going with friends/family that had a boat. Now when it comes to rod selection it’s what species and what technique to determine setups and how many rods can we fit in the boat just in case. All the new fancy stuff is great but when I look back some of my best memories are of the simpler times in my friends 14’ duck boat with no electronics or clue what we were doing besides just fishing.

You can get mega SI on a G2 helix. My old G2N 9” helix had it when I bought it back in 2018.

All good advice so far and it really comes down to personal preference for your style of fishing. I run 2 garmin and 1 helix to link to my TM. Like others said follow the contour is kind of overrated but if you have a long bar or made your own contour that is somewhat straight it works good for that. One feature I use a lot with my bird is cruise control. Depending on your terrova and remote it can be controlled from there otherwise it’s nice to control from the locator as well if linked.

My house is a 2018 with stainless cables and I have never replaced them. I have a metal hack saw and cable clamps in the house in case one breaks. I also keep an eye on them and when I notice fraying I will replace them. The ATV winch cable sounds interesting even if just for backup since it would probably be easier to work with. I did just replace my tires this year due to weather cracking.

My parents are life long smokers and in their late 70’s. My brother and I tried to get them to quiet when we were younger but never worked. It’s to the point now that when we go over to their house we leave coats in the car and have to wash clothes right when we get home because it all smells like smoke. Anything that comes from their house smells like smoke even if it’s only been there a couple days. It is a gross habit but also an addiction.

Hey bearcat, what broadheads do you use for turkeys? Now that my son is 18 he said if he can’t get his bird during his allowed gun season he may use his bow.

My oldest son is big into turkey hunting. His first turkey was a double when sitting with his cousin. He guided his girlfriend and her brother last year and they each got a bird. He’s going to guide me now this year also. I have never had much interest in turkey hunting but it will be fun spending time with him.

Like other said I don’t see prices coming back down but I have seen more sale or rebates this spring on new and non-current models than in the last few years. I ordered my boat in February of 21 got it in October and in that time msrp went up 9k and last year when I looked it was about 14k more total than when I ordered mine. Now I saw my model as a non-current(24 model year)listed for about what the msrp was when I ordered with sale and rebates. So there are some deals out there just need to watch if your in the new market.

I called Yamaha directly and asked them when I was looking into it for my boat.

Full draw what motor are you running? I looked into doing the same last year and after digging into why mercury doesn’t recommend using lithium for a cranking battery on their motors under 150. I decided it was not worth the risk for the weight savings for me.

Yamaha also told me no lithiums for starting battery due to how the charging system is on their motors.

I bought my boat just before the market exploded and have a lot of equity in it but after seeing what it would cost to upgrade I think I will keep mine and enjoy it for now and see what happens to the boat industry. Only regret was not seriously looking into a glass boat at the time.

I think that rifle will do the trick lol. I figured it had to be a custom action like a vudoo. I have never used any lapua variety yet but would like to try some. I have a few kidd builds that I use for 50yds that like SK or Eley.

I’ve had 10 shots at about an inch at 100yds and thought that was good. What kind of rifle, optics and ammo are you using? Long range rimfire has been something I always thought was fun since I’m limited in distance for centerfire.

3M adhesive remover is good stuff. I use it all the time at work and should take the adhesive off if you can get it under the sticker. Otherwise an eraser wheel should take them off. Just be careful to not stay in one spot too long and get the gel coat too hot as it may damage it. You can also sand and buff the gel coat to get out scratches. Gel coat is pretty thick I have repaired and sprayed it in the past.

Of all the leather waterproof boots I have had over the years the only pair that I had issues with leaking were some Rocky’s I had years ago. My feet would get wet walking in wet grass. I have been running danner pronghorns for 10yrs or more and no issues. I don’t stand in water for a prolonged period but they have gotten wet plenty from deer hunting and ice fishing.

Like others said lithiums should be stored 50-60% charge then every 60-90 days put a charger on them for about 5-10min. We are all used to FLA batteries where charging them after use was needed. Not the case with lithiums and is more beneficial to charge them only when needed. With how I use my trolling motor I use about 1% battery per hour fishing. With my amped app I can see the health of my battery as well as time until discharge. Here’s an example of my 24v 80ah run time last summer.

Thanks. Looking into it i probably need to upgrade my onboard charger if I go lithium. Litime does have a decent sale going but those NOCOs just look sturdier and have a slightly better waterproof rating. Guess I gotta figure out how much I want to stick into this old boat.

You can always take the new charger and batteries with you if you get a new boat. Otherwise I was told by an amped rep that the minnKota precision chargers will charge their batteries on the AGM setting. I went 24v and it came with a charger. No regrets going lithium and you should really like the extended run time and weight savings.

My 150 likes to settle a little when it sits. Had it in several times and had some seals replaced but it didn’t fix the settling. Then as I was getting it ready for storage I noticed a trim seal was leaking again. The work was done under warranty but mine just expired last fall so I hope the dealer will warranty their work as the seals should last longer than a year.

This was holdingfords year to make it happen. They loose 5 seniors this year with 3 of them varsity staters and ranked. They will still be good next year but not sure they can overcome the talent lost especially with staples being so young.

That’s a good idea. Artificial lights are legal in MN with shotguns I just don’t know how that would work if you have a rifle with as well at night. During the day it wouldn’t matter and could maybe carry both if not walking far.

I was thinking the 69g was heavy as well but I haven’t shot it in this gun. My 18in 1/8 twist 223 wylde shoots it fine so I was considering it as it is a hp bullet. This particular gun will shoot 55g fmj and 50g v-max fine. I have another set up with with a 1/7 twist but that doesn’t like the lighter bullets as much so I put my lvpo from this gun on there and going to use the thermal on this gun. Nice thing with the thermal it has a QD mount and I can save several sight in profiles if I choose to swap guns in the future.

Good success with the 50 grain V-Max. Boiler room shots kill them dead. If you don’t use a .50 BMG, poor shot placement results in run-offs.

    .

Unfortunately my 50BMG is in the way back of the safe and too much work to get it out jester

The thermal was a big investment so just trying to use what I have for now.
My kid’s wrestling coach is a big coyote hunter and uses a 6mm arc. That may be an option in the future as well.

I wasn’t sure what to think about the new scoring this year but I think it’s been a positive. Tech falls can be easier as well as comebacks. In one move a wrestler can get 7pts real quick.
