i also use 6/20 yellow powerpro, but only when using plastics for bass. yellow has good visibility in low light conditions and the line reacts great when i dead line senkos and thats coming from a guy with fireline on almost all other rods.
July 2, 2007 at 2:28 am #586035i’m also waiting to see if it will be enforced or not. i have a feeling it won’t be unless they start to get more complaints. still haven’t made my way over to the course landing or the park landing, but hope to soon. cya on the water.
July 2, 2007 at 2:25 am #586034thx i’ll be heading up on tues night and will post a full report when i get home. thx to all again.
June 19, 2007 at 10:02 pm #582310minutes before the worst imaginable weather or as of late at night with or without the moon. it hasn’t really made a whole lot of difference for me. gluck
June 19, 2007 at 9:57 pm #582308there has to be someone fishing Lac Courte Oreilles. anything would be a big help. thx again.
June 19, 2007 at 6:56 pm #582206went out sunday on the yellow also and had the same kind of luck. been fishing pretty much the same small area this entire year with #5 shads. sounds pretty much like the exact same spot. the hot color for me this week and last has been goldfish as well as a black and gold shine that i’m pretty sure they don’t even make anymore. but i’m glad to hear you had fun and safe trip. i’m sure i’ll be seeing you out there. Tracker V16 SuperGuide. stop and say hi.
benJune 19, 2007 at 6:38 pm #582185once you figure out how, let me know because i have a few i’d like to take off my phone as well. i’m just waiting for the day i drop it in the water and lose the few decent pics i couldn’t get on my camera. thx
June 19, 2007 at 6:32 pm #582180it depends if you mind camping or if you would rather stay at a resort. the lion’s club camp ground on the north shore is a great spot to stay with plenty of shore and dock space for everyone. i usually stay there for a week or two every year and have a great time(www.lakeholcombelions.com/campground). otherwise if you are looking for a resort, paradise shores is an extremely nice place on the southern shore. i usually end up there at least one morning everytime i’m up there for their great breakfast buffet and bloodymary bar(www.paradiseshores.com). hope this helps. hope to see ya out there. gluck
June 19, 2007 at 6:21 pm #582169i’m happy to see that i’m not the only disappointed person, but i have also learned to let things go when i know there is nothing i can do to change them. so i was wondering if someone could possibly give me directions to the state park launch and the other launch mentioned in one of the previous posts. i tried to use map quest, but came up shorthanded. thx again for all the concern. hope to see you all out there soon. ben
June 9, 2007 at 7:56 pm #579264my buddies and i troll mainly 8-10 ft. breaks. whether it be weedlines, points, rocks, or sand with a #5 shad rap usually in brighter colors. we just tried a new spot last week that is now one of our favorite spots, so it definitely has been working as of late. i’ll be up there today and tomorrow giving it a shot again. maybe i’ll see ya out there. gluck
April 23, 2007 at 8:24 pm #563721definitely a good walleye lake. i always get into some nice crappies too while jigging for eyes. in case you didn’t already know, motor trolling is not permitted. just a heads up because they watch that pretty close. if you make it back up later in the year the muskie bit is pretty consistent. if you don’t have any luck there u can always jump to any of the close surrounding lakes like spider and teal. both produced nice fish for me last year. good luck and lets us know how u do.
March 19, 2007 at 8:32 pm #550545definitely would enjoy seeing Lake Wissota, in Chippewa County surveyed. just so many potential spots i feel it would be a great help.
November 8, 2006 at 4:36 pm #24425isn’t there quite a bit of pressure put on the sip? i’m more or less looking for more people that would like to go hunting.

October 28, 2005 at 10:30 pm #392792hey, if ur ever lookin for somebody to hunt/fish with just let me know. Thats usually all i’m ever doing especially if ur in the area.
October 27, 2005 at 9:57 pm #392511I guess this would be a bad time to mention that the muskrat tally for the year is now at 97 after this morning. Poor little fellers.
Drink’em if ya got’em
October 27, 2005 at 9:51 pm #392504Just curious about what part of the chipp you’ve been fishing? I usually end up at the old NSP where the EC meets the chipp and its just started to turn on these last few days.
October 26, 2005 at 9:50 pm #392198i’ve been out on Altoona a couple times within the last 2 weeks and have been making a killing on those perch. The smallies are really picking up too, with an occasional eye here and there. I’ve been using jigs tipped with fatheads and its been a constant bite so far. We should find a time to get out there and maybe learn a few new spots/tricks that will help put those 14+ in the boat.
May 6, 2005 at 6:34 pm #361038I never intended on keeping those fish, but my fishing partner has only been out fishing a couple times in his entire life and insisted that those were the biggest fish that he’d ever catch so both are being mounted. Don’t ask me why. And the little one was eaten. Both were caught at Hickory Grove State Park, located between Colo and Nevada. We were throwing dark crankbaits from shore, over boulders in fairly deep water. We also picked up some nice slab crappies fishing off a brushpile around 9pm using lighted bobbers and Flu Flu’s/minnows. Hope this helps a little.
Sorry about the fish, don’t want to give anybody the wrong impression. Good Luck to all this weekend.May 6, 2005 at 2:37 am #361545Where can i catch a musky or northern thats within an hour of Ames? Would be much appreciated. THX
May 5, 2005 at 9:43 pm #361494I have a cabin up on Lake Lac Courte Oreilles near Hayward so i hit a lot of those surrounding lakes including the Chippewa Flowage. But if i want to stay closer to EC i fish Lake Holcombe quite often and that produces some pretty nice fish. I also travel further north to Winter, WI once a year and hit Moose, Barber, and a number of rivers. All of them are pretty good up there. I’m also a top-water guy. Favorite way to catch any fish especially musky. Now you got me all excited and i still have to wait a couple weeks for that opener. Still glad to see a fellow tooth hunter though.
May 5, 2005 at 8:26 pm #361481thx, i’m more of a musky and eye guy than anything, but there isn’t a whole lot to work with in central IA, so i had to make due.
April 25, 2005 at 6:06 pm #359249Are you talking about the New Richmond, Long Lake or the Stone Lake, Long Lake? Cause both are north of bloomer, but i’m not really sure which one is on HWY 40
