Short answer is no. Measurable snowfall before Halloween is incredibly rare in the majority of Minnesota. Any year with ice in near or before Thanksgiving is considered early. We are actually ahead of schedule this year if you go off the averages.

I follow weather pretty religiously, all models are locked in for 0.75-1.00 inch of rain ..our lakes in south central mn are a mess right now..it might be a good thing..but man 1 inch of rain and 40 mph winds could really deteriorate the slush and the ice its self…luckily we get back to single digit lows by Monday night…should be interesting. It feels like spring today.

A Christmas day rainstorm is showing up on most weather models as of now, could change. But with over a inch of rain with temps near 40 degrees..that could help our situation if we can get cold after that…but then again models show us staying near 30 for the high, lows in the upper teens or low 20s….Pretty depressing lol…..

Yep, Cold and barely making any ice in the Mankato area, most lakes are pretty slushy with all the snow we got last saturday…another 8-12 inches of snow tomorrow. Then a warm up next week…Gonna be a rough go in this area.
