Last week, one guy had a snowmobile no more than 20′ from the open water..
No fish is worth losing your life or your valuable possesions for!
I’ve lived in hudson for my entire life (40 yrs.) and as long as i can remember, they have fished out there.I can even remember when they raced cars on the ice just north of the 94 and the hudson marina..Hmm? crazy huh..
About ten yrs. ago i watched a full sized pickup drive under the 94 bridge south and kept going..Not sure where they were headed.
Here’s another good one, last sat. i watched three guys on four wheelers drive to the edge of the open water just above the train trestle by the hudson channel. They realized there was open water and bee lined it toward the island..Obviously they didn’t have any clue there was open water there, and were driving ice that never really freezes enough to be safe..Very heavy current there..
They all headed north after they probably crapped their pants..
Thought i was gonna have to call 911 for those guys..

    It is barron co. campground..
Was up there this weekend, stayed at relatives home. Not at the campground, i think it is first come first served sites.
The eyes were biting friday evening, andthen the cold front blew in and scewed up the rest of the weekend.
    Awesome area!!!
My personal best smallie isout of red cedar 22″ 5.25LBS,anyways its a descent campground not real big but right close to the lake.
    Good luck!

I have used rapala’s for years on a lot of different streams.
Finding the rightpattern is the trick!I have caught many large brown trout on silver/black..One of my favorites!

Give it a try, you’ll be surprised at the size of trout that like large rapalas!!
