Drill should be fine, not sure about the auger you chose. I didn’t DIY but I have a Nils with an adapter I bought online (they seem to sell out fast). I use a Craftsman 19.2 drill. I have no problems. I bring extra batteries with me as mine are older, plus I have a portable power inverter that I can use to plug my battery charger in either my atv or truck.

In my 45 plus years of hunting/fishing, nothing beats my military “Mickey Mouse” boots. I’ve been out in -15 temps for hours without my feet getting cold, even without disposable toe warmers. The last five or so years I’ve also worn alpaca wool socks. Try ’em! You’ll love them!

Pick up some of those interlocking foam gym floor mats. They are cheap and pack up nice.

I picked these mats up at Walmart. I use them in my Shappell portable. The nice thing is they do interlock and you can piece them together to the shape you need. They are very light weight and easy to transport.

Very funny! I can picture your brother sitting there wondering what the heck just happened!

I’ve had good luck with mini-mites for perch, particularly pink jighead and white body tipped with spikes or waxies. Also a size 3 swedish pimple, black ice color. My favorite color for ‘eyes is a three color jig head in chartreuse, orange and green. Good luck
