Same resort launch pulled a good one on me 3 weeks ago. I’m anchored on Banana Reef and he cruises within 20 ft of me at half throttle. Huge wake splashes at least 15 gallons of water in the boat, If I’d been in a 14 footer he’d of swamped me! Then he does a quick turnaround and drops anchor. Nice move Randy-I guess if I knew you owned the lake I would of gotten out of your way.
I came across this video and thought it gave some excellent tips. I set mine just as he suggests and it works perfect. Hopefully this link will work:http://upload.outdoorsfirst.com/watch.asp?id=1053
Terry Fussy is a friend of mine. The way he told it was, 2 high school kids, him and another friend were goofing around fishing carp from shore under the Lowry Ave bridge near their home when he caught the big cat. Caught it in a kernel of corn. He said the best part of catching it was the looks they got from passing motorists while they were carrying it home! They didn’t realize it was a record. He has since moved to Cross Lake,MN. If you PM me I will be able to find his phone #. I’m amazed no-one has ever caught a bigger one!
I was there for the first time last aug myself. Stayed at Paskashkan Lake lodge, cabins were OK, owner was nice but kind of clueless when it came to fishing. Fished mostly northerns during the day, walleyes seemed to only bite early morning and just before and after dark. Had our best luck rigging crawlers in 10-20 ft near rock or cabbage, and bobber fishing after dark. Lake is basically divided into three lobes, we spent most of our time in the eastern lobe. There are a few cabins there but we had the lake mostly to ourselfs, try around the small island in the middle of the bay. that was our best spot. Nice lake, we intend to try it again but the road into it is terrible. If you bring your own boat put rock guards on your truck or your boat and trailer will take a huge beating.
Hi
I had a 94 Smokercaft 17 ft Fazer with a 115 merc until 2003 when I went to a Lund 1700 Fisherman. Overall it was a good boat but the lund takes the big waves of Mille lacs much better. Saved alot of money when I bought it, which was important at the time but will stick with Lund or Alumacraft from now on. Maybe I need to change my name!
Mike
Sorry to hear about your loss, hang in there time heals all sorrows.
Jim
very informative and nicely done, I’m sure you saved quite a few people alot of money!
Thanks
Keep it simple, 48 inch statewide, 1 law for the whole state! Sometimes I feel we are getting alittle carried away with “special regs” for what seems like every other lake in the state. Many times the casual fisherman doesn’t even know the lake they’re on has special regs.
I wouldn’t recommend it for bowhunting but for gun hunting I love my Tree Longe. They make a standard size or an over size for larger hunters. Easy climbing and by far the most comfortable I’ve ever used, you can’t fall out of it! After seeing mine 5 of my buddies now hunt out of them. There are some good deals on e-bay right now.

I run Suzuki oil and filters in my 140. Costs alittle more but I only need to change once a year anyway. Never have had any oil related problems.
Hi
I know but wanted to try something different for a change. Did catch 3nice northerns in Wahkon Bay on Sunday AM, trolling unweighted bucktails. Maybe see you labor day weekend. Always willing to learn new methods and any info is appreciated.
Thanks for the info, how deep would a 50/50 set-up like that run.I’ll be lauching at the weathwood access around sun-up Sat,black Lund 1700 fisherman with 140 Suzuki if you see me wave.
Could you explain the 50/50 method? Never heard of that before.
Thanks
My wife started using one,It’s amazing how much better both of us are sleeping with out her waking up 15 times a night!
I’m sure you will feel better and your wife will too!
James-Your 100% right comparing walleye fishing now to 2 yrs ago, however the bass from 2 yrs ago didn’t appear thin like the walleyes were. When I went diving 2 yrs ago I saw roughly the same amount of crayfish in the rocks as I do this year. I don’t believe the smallies cycle with the perch and baitfish populations as dramatically as walleye. What has increased greatly is the fishing pressure on them, when I look out my front window at Wahkon Bay I see 4 times more people bass fishing now than then and I believe that’s a big part of what makes the fishing toughter.
I’d have to agree with Ryan, I would consider anything over 20 Inches to be a trophy Smallmouth. I wish I would stop hearing how great fishing is on Mille Lacs, every rock pile on the south end gets pounded every weekend and the fishing isn’t near as good as it was 2 years ago. It will be interesting to see how many of these so called “easy” 20-22 inch fish are caught during the In-Depth Angling Get together.
I just picked up 2 Stowaway 27 series deep cycles at Sam’s Club for $49.00 each, seemed like a good deal. My last stowaway lasted 5 yrs.
Try taking the side cover’s off and inspecting the pin the motor pivots on to see if an end cap has fallen off the pin. The end caps keeps the pin centered. Mine worked its way off and was clunking around like you describe.
I’ve rifle hunted out of a tree lounge for 7 years and will never go back to any other kind. I would get the leveler for top only ,it works great. I never use the bottom leveler and have no problem climbing. Look into the the carrying belt as a accessory, takes all the weight off your shoulders and puts it on your waist ! All in all a fantastic product.
