I don’t doubt the effectiveness of the engel coolers but i couldn’t justify the cost versus how i would use it so i made my own. Bought a small travel cooler and battery aerator from walmart. Drilled 1/4″ hole for the air tubing on top of the lid and mount the aerator on the side. Less than $20.

Just recently bought a pair of baffin evolutions because it was a good deal on Amazon. Warm and comfortable but not fully waterproof. Spent a whole day on Mille lacs last Friday during the warm up and by the end of the night my toes were soaked. Not sure how the apex would hold up in same conditions but I was hole hopping fishing tullibee. Luckily I brought a second pair of socks and boots for the drive home. Maybe will consider the titans next time.

Sounds like everyone had good luck with theirs. Owned one a couple years ago and it was repaired twice at D Rock for piston problems. Second time back from the shop it was sold. Both times the engines were replaced under warranty. It’s a great auger but I don’t think the engine works well with the weight of auger shaft in my opinion. Otherwise it probably couldn’t handle the 100s of holes we drilled everytime out. Had the solo 142 same time as the Honda and it still outlast it. My buddies have the 142 solo too and never considered a different auger. Just wanted to share my past experience with the Honda auger.

Yes I got lucky with the deal and i was hoping others did too. Unfortunately i checked again and the price went up. Usually when ordering with Amazon i order through the prime membership. Prime members are assured that the item is at an Amazon distribution center that is ready to ship out. If you have to make a purchase via money order than i wouldn’t ever purchase anything from anyone. Amazon has no other payment options besides credit/debit card. I’ve bought a lot of stuff from Amazon before and only issue i had was getting my money back subtracting the shipping back to seller because i didn’t like the item. Its normal practice under Amazon’s policy unless item is noted to have Free Returns.

I just found the Marcum LX-7 on amazon for $583.99 with free shipping. Already own one but at that price I couldn’t pass it up.

Not sure if it matters but I used the dimensions off the original vexilar arm to make the one shown. 4.75″ for the longer piece and 3.75″ for the shorter piece with a 1/2″ through hole for the stopper. Just make sure to cut out a 1/4″ wide clearance for the transducer cord to fit onto the arm.

Got the LX-7 back today (although I had to call them to see if it was ready)… they said that it was an electrical component that had to be switched, but the guy didn’t really know what that meant. They also re-did the wires on the battery connecter for me as well as replaced the knob that had fallen off.
I am hopeful that it will work up at Lake of the Woods next week. I usually bring a back-up with me (LX-1 and FL-8), but have 2 buddies coming up with me that will be using them, so let’s hope I don’t have to confiscate one of them back.
Overall, I was not overly impressed with the customer service, however I also know that it is the busiest time of the year for them. For me as long as the unit works from now on I will be a happy customer, because I think that the LX-7 when working is an awesome unit.

I recommend you take it out on a nearby lake and try it first before your trip. On the water can be different from just turning it on and everything looks like it works. When I got mine back and went to the lake it had a slight glitch of the screen and a few freeze ups than it worked just fine after. It made me mad for a bit there but now is all smiles.

Bought mine at the last St. Paul ice show and had same problem including glitching display. Brought it to them and got it in back three days. No problem since. Latest firm ware on it too. Marcum said there was a bad resistor on mine. They’ll take care of it for you so just take the time to bring it in

and I’m over here like should I or shouldn’t I…. good luck man

I feel the same way right now about whether I should order that bull whip or not. Haven’t received my quick tip yet that I ordered from the show. Don’t feel like waiting another 3-4 weeks

Got my lx7 back from marcum today and they said a resistor inside on the pcb board was bad. They replaced it and now it looks ok. Gonna try it out on a local lake before heading up north for the weekend just incase it doesn’t read depths.

They will make it right at marcum. Sorry to hear you had an issue I have never had one with my 7. You will be good to go when they go through it. Not sure it would be worth going through reeds for replacement.

I’m sure it’s something to do with the latest software too. My brother didn’t update his from last year and it works flawlessly. I’m sure reeds will tell me to contact marcum anyways. I’ll drop off my unit tomorrow at marcum and I’m sure they’ll get it fixed.

I was wondering what’s the average time it takes for tucr to ship out a rod? Had to order one at the show and can’t even wait to use it.
