I’d only get it if you are looking for gun of high quality, has lots of holster options available, and goes bang every time you pull the trigger. If you don’t want that, I’d pass on it.

Ruger makes a fine .22 semi-auto also.
I bought a Smith and Wesson 22A last year, and once I learned what ammo to feed it, I haven’t had any trouble with it. I think it was around $250 at Scheel’s. I found that I need high velocity ammo to make the gun cycle properly.
Good luck with your search and purchase. .22’s are a lot of fun to shoot, and won’t cost an arm and a leg to do it.

July 3, 2009 at 3:06 am #53322We feed ours Canidae. Lot better than the cheap Purina that we had been feeding her.
Check out Dog Food Analysis to get reviews and ratings on many different brands and types of food. They are rated on a scale of 1-6 stars, with 6 stars being the best. That’s were we learned about Canidae, and have been very happy with it. We feed less food, and if we buy it in the 44lb bag, we actually save money per meal over using the Purina like we had been.
May 17, 2009 at 2:05 pm #51782We’ve got Macy on the Canidae food now, and WOW, she was already 45 lbs of muscle and energy, but after making the switch, her energy level has increased even more. Its amazing what a difference premium dog food makes.
April 26, 2009 at 1:31 am #50609I have to agree with most people here. If their story is true, then they had the right idea, but maybe poor execution of the idea. The poor execution mainly stems from not reporting the situation to dnr right away to make them aware of it.
I’ve heard the dnr would rather you wait, and they will kill the wounded animal when an officer gets there, but if I have the means to do it, I’d rather get it over with for the sake of the animal.
April 25, 2009 at 3:48 am #50582The website Dog Food Analysis rates and review many different dog foods on a scale of 1 to 6 stars. We used that when deciding to switch our dog from el cheapo Purina Dog Chow to Canidae.
We haven’t started feeding the Canidae yet, as we have probably half a bag of Purina left, but it doesn’t have the extra “filler” ingredients that provide no nutritional value. Each bag costs more than the Purina, but we will end up feeding half the amount, and getting better nutrition so it will be worth the small increase in price per serving.
The one type of Fromm I looked at is a 5 star.

DING DING DING!!!! Never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense, and I’d put money on it that is the reason.
April 16, 2009 at 4:06 am #50067Note that it is an ongoing poll from November of 2007. Looks like USA Today is waiting to publish the results hoping it will swing the other way.
April 6, 2009 at 1:20 am #49576I started on that project Friday. I went with the raking leaves and grass method. Then just pile it in the street and put a lighter to it.
Unforunately, all this snow today will put that project on hold for a while now.

There is information about the current bills that have been introduced as well as message boards to discuss the bills regarding firearms.
March 7, 2009 at 5:01 am #48340Don’t have a permit yet, but when I do, I’ll carry with one in the pipe. Things happen fast, and the less steps you have to take to fire, the better.
If you do carry with the chamber empty, you need to practice that way. Draw, Rack the Slide, Aim, Shoot. IMHO too many steps.
March 7, 2009 at 3:04 am #48335Personally, I would stay away from the .327 only because it is a newer caliber and I would be concerned about its staying power on the market. I would much rather go with a .357/.38 because those are well established and its almost guaranteed that ammo will always be available for it.
I’ve never shot one, but I have heard good things about the Taurus snubbies. And you can never go wrong with a Ruger.
February 14, 2009 at 7:23 pm #47653Grain elevator might be another option to place traps. Where I work we would most likely allow it, but others may not.
November 10, 2008 at 6:52 pm #42533I am planning on buying hollowpoints as you have to have an expanding bullet for hunting deer with a handgun. The longest shot I would consider taking would be 20 yards, but most shots with the handgun will be within 10 yards otherwise I’ll use the shotgun.
The handgun definately isn’t my primary weapon that I will be carrying. I am carrying it because I have killed a lot of deer with a shotgun and if I get a chance, I want to take one with a handgun because of the added challenge.

If you get one, talk to a grain elevator if there is one close. The one I work at has lots of em that we would love to get rid of. Employees would probably have to set and retrieve the traps, but you could have the birds.October 27, 2008 at 1:51 am #41165If looking for a revolver, you can’t go wrong with a Ruger GP-100 in .357mag with a 4 inch barrel if your looking to carry daily or 6 inch if looking to carry mainly for deer hunting.
For semi-auto, a Glock, XD, or M&P in either .40 or .45 will work for CCW and deer hunting. Just remember that the barrel must be a minimum of 4 inches to be legal to hunt with. I want to get a M&P40 sometime to use at the range and to carry deer hunting. I like the idea of having 15+1 rounds of .40 plus having the interchangeable backstraps on the gun.
Find a place where you can handle and maybe shoot any and all of the guns you are considering and really decide what the primary purpose of the gun will be. If its mainly for self defense and CCW, I would look at an auto. If its mainly for hunting, I would look at a wheel gun. If you plan on using it on the range mainly, get whichever you like to shoot more.
You might be able to save some green by purchasing the gun online at a place like Buds Gun Shop or Gun Broker. Need to find an FFL to do the transfer, but still may be cheaper than going to a dealer.
October 6, 2008 at 2:15 am #39504We’ve been through obedience training with her and we did not have any progress with loose leash walking. I also have to disagree with the not being able to properly pant. When she has it on, she can get her mouth open plenty wide to grab a hold of a large ball and she doesn’t open nearly that far when she pants even on hot days before we started using the gentle leader.
May 2, 2008 at 12:44 am #681254When I was little, I loved playing with marbles and rolling them down a couple of cookie sheets. Mom and Dad had to go away one night so I was gonna get to spend the night at grandma’s house, but I got to choose which grandma. I said I wanted to stay with Grandma Cleo because Grandma Bev lost all her marbles. That one made it into the local newspaper.
April 13, 2008 at 1:31 am #35613The P89 is a good solid gun. Heavy gun, but built like a tank. My dad has one and they are very nice.
I’m thinking about getting a P94 if I get a different gun sold. Only reason I’m getting the P94 instead of a P89 is that I want something in .40

March 13, 2008 at 10:42 pm #665170We had thought about buying the home, but once we saw the basement, there was no way we would do it. It’s also a house that had been on the market for some time and everyone has passed on it because of the foundation issues. The had a company come in and put big anchors that run way out into the yard all around the foundation, so I’m not concerned about the structural integrity its the resale of it. And I really don’t want to be stuck with a house I can’t sell.
The town I work in and the town she works in are about 50 minutes apart, but eventually I will be looking for something closer to where she works. This house is about halfway for us now, so another reason we’d hate to buy right now is if I get a job closer to her, we’d still have to drive 30 minutes each to work instead of being able to cut that down to 10-15 minutes at the most.
March 13, 2008 at 5:20 pm #665037The owners aren’t real sure what the heating costs will be since no one has lived in it since they owned it. Plus, they put in a new energy efficient furnace, and all but one window is new, so that should help lower the bill some.
I can’t wait until May when she moves in and then this summer when I move in. I like living in an apartment, but this will be a lot better.
March 12, 2008 at 10:38 pm #664814After talking to the fiance today, we decided that the other houses that we had as options aren’t what we want. We are going to go with this house so I’d like to change the direction of the thread a little and ask what types of things should we ask to be included on the lease?
I do like the idea of taking lots of pictures before moving anything in. I hadn’t thought of that .
March 12, 2008 at 5:26 pm #664682Fish Hammer – I understand that they are the ones taking the risk and the extra $25 doesn’t bother me especially to have central air. I’m just concerned that I could end up paying extra if there ends up being a problem with the electrical, plumbing, etc even if the problem is not related to something I did, because they need extra money to fix a problem with their house. In this particular situation, I don’t see it as a whole lot different than paying extra a month on an apartment so you can keep pets.
I’m not trying to say that the landlords are wrong, I just want to know if I should see this as an honest mistake, or if I should see it as a red flag as to what could happen in the future.
Oh yeah, and the part about taking it with me was meant to be in jest. I suppose I should have put one of these after it .
If anyone is curious, this is what the home looks like
Rental HouseMarch 12, 2008 at 3:21 am #664521I don’t know how long they have been in the rental business. From what I understand, they buy houses, flip them, and then resell them. They do run some rentals, but I think they are more into reselling houses.
They were very agreeable to our requests as far as decorating within the house, not moving in until May, and the big one, having a dog in the house. We have a couple other places we are going check out, but if the other houses don’t really wow us, we are going to go with this one.
I will make sure to go through the lease with a fine tooth comb and make sure that anything I feel is a major concern is addressed within the lease.
