I ended up with 58 pints of San Marzanos.

I got a late start with my tomatillos. I used inferior potting soil. Kellogg brand raised garden soil. My tomatillos looked pathetic. After a weekly hosing of Miracle Grow they took off.

I also didn’t know they weren’t self pollinators like tomatoes. I had them in planters about 3 feet away from each other. I placed them next to each other and within a week they started producing fruit.

I ended up with 14 pints of salsa Verde plus we probably ate another 5 pints fresh. I didn’t realize how much I liked salsa Verde.

The picture is from a day before the first frost this fall. The bumble bees loved the flowers. If I only had a few more weeks…

    Next year should be better.

Going from a 4 to a 3 blade, same pitch will typically net you around 2-300 RPMs. Still too low for max RPM. Are you sure your motor is set at the correct height? And are you sure that MPH/RPM is correct? Something seems off.

A 19″ Tempest should be the correct prop.

I also wouldn’t be chasing the prop selection until you have the motor at the right height. You want to be as close to 6k RPMs as possible.

Can you explain how motor height effects holes hot and overall top RPM’s?

Would it also effect how much you can trim the boat while going full speed? What about tiller torque?

Sorry if I’m hijacking this thread. If so I can start another one.

My first year planting tomatillos. I had the pots about three feet apart to start. Plenty of flowers but no fruit.
After doing a little research I found out they don’t self pollinate like tomatoes. I jammed them together and made sure the vines were touching and it worked!

The aftermath of eating Taco Bell is much worse than prepping for a colonoscopy.

Taco Bell is waking up at 2:00 AM in a panic doubled over clinched up sweating with severe abdominal cramps.

Although the colonoscopy prep was a hassle it was painless and had no discomfort. You just have to play it safe and stay close to the bathroom.

We made a bunch of planters from the old light fixtures at work when we went to florescent lights.

I like salsa Verde so I’m attempting to grow tomatillos.

I may have found something about it:

House passes bill that would enshrine contentious and popular antisemitism definition into US law

I’m pro Israel but this is a slippery slope.

Of coarse the link doesn’t work. I find technology now days so draining. Everything changes so fast. Stupid Firefox. I cant wait to retire and go live in a cave somewhere.

The House apparently just passed a bill that makes it illegal to speak negatively or protest about Israel. Kinda strange to create a bill about that and why only Israel?

Do you have a link to an article about this?

Id like to read about it.

    Thanks

You all should know this – “Two things don’t belong in a fishing boat – Bananas and Politics”.

OK, I’ll keep the oil bath hubs but maybe buy a spare hub kit just to be safe.

    Thanks guys.

Being a grease hub guy that was my thinking as well.

I’d like to hear from people who own or have owned oil hubs.

Have you ever had a leaky hub?

Would it make sense to carry a spare cap, o ring and oil?

I prefer cole brew in the warm
Weather (summer) and hot coffee in the cold weather. I use the attached cold brew jug with normal coffee grounds.

Same with me. Once it warms up I switch to cold brew. I go about a third decaf though. Otherwise too much caffeine for me. Gives me the jitters.

I get a couple mornings out of this 64 oz jug.

    I mulch mine too.

If I left all the leaves in my back yard, I’d never find the dogshit.

If I had to do it over again I would get into CNC machining.

Someone who can program and set up these machines can make a nice living. Its amazing what these machines can do.

Most shops are air conditioned and its not physically demanding work.

Years ago I had a couple old timers working for me. Both mid sixties. One was a machinist and the other a sheet metal fabricator. Both highly skilled and experienced. The sheet metal fabricator had 2 back surgeries and both knees replaced. No work related surgeries or injuries for the machinist.

How often do you water your tomatoes?

I use 30% vinegar to kill the weeds in my rocks and spot spray weeds in my front yard. I mix it with around 25% water and spray it on a calm sunny day.

It kills everything it touches within a couple of hours.

My dog gets into everything. I figure its safer than using Roundup.

I’m looking for seed potatoes. I cant find them anywhere. Its so odd. Ive never had this problem.

Does anyone know a north metro business who has them?

Ive had some ordered from Menards for three weeks with no delivery date.

Do I have time yet to start my own spud seedlings this year?

Another vote for smoked brisket. Actually a lot more votes. I won the office chili cook off a couple months back. Used about 25% brisket to 75% 85/15 ground beef. There were nine chilis and 26 votes altogether. I got 17 votes, three others got the rest of the votes, and five people got zero votes. I tried them all and they were all good enough to eat, but only a couple were great. Using dried chilis makes most of the difference to me. I used ancho, guajillo, and chili de arbol. Seed them and toast them in a dry skillet then soak them in hot water about ten minutes. Blend them with some of the soaking liquid to make a paste then fry that paste until it darkens a bit before adding onions and meat.

Similar to what I do but I use beef stock instead of water.

Re hydrated chilies make a very rich flavorful chili.

Has anyone used beef tenderloin? Would the tenderness of the cut be appealing?

I know it doesn’t have the most flavor but it may pick up the peppers flavor during a slow cook.

Isn’t lump supposed to burn hotter and faster?

I tried lump on my 560. It didn’t work very well. The big chunks get wedged higher up and you get uneven cooking temps.

Masterbuilt does make a lump charcoal for the gravity fed series that works well.

Kingsford is ok but B&B briquettes are larger and burn longer before falling through the grate.
