As someone who has both a Helix 7 and 93sv, I’d go with the Garmin each time, Much more bang for your buck. 9″ screen is significantly better. As others have said, the maps are much more detailed and accurate with HB/lakemaster, so I’d like to have my Helix next to my Garmin just for the lake map, especially on a lake like Sakakawea that fluctuates so much. Only Humminbird/lakemaster offers the ability to offset water levels on your map.

Garmin has the ability to offset your transducer for varying water levels if you chose so.

Back to the OP…..Garmin 93sv hands down. The user interface is almost as good as lowrance & they are dependable. I have been running the echomaps for 8 years now without any issues. From what I have heard Garmin support is very good too if needed. I have 2 of the new 93sv’s networked and livescope. They all have a little bit of a learning curve.

The Lund 1775 pro guide took a downsizing in 2020. It’s a much smaller boat than the Competitor for 2020. IMO the floor area of the Lund is tiny.

10-4 on Rochester Scheels. They were excellent building a new A220 Savage for me earlier this year.

I gave the CVA Optima with SST’s a rest this year. It’s sighted in with XTP’s for the late muzzle loader season. The new A220 with Accutips did the job Sunday morning double lung shot & went less than 40 yards with blood trail. I have battled the SST blood trail issue before but won’t any more. Accurate but thats about it.

Been running 93SV and 73dv for 2 years now. No issues the units are linked and share waypoints and tracks. The quickdraw feature is a gamechanger. Mapping is decent, but with quickdraw it can be superb if you want to put the time in. The new plus units being touch screen have my interest.

    Tom,

These jigs look really nice. These have to be airbrushed. What type of paints/clear coat are you using to get this finished product ?

I see people everyday calculating something, and it all goes back to figuring out those pesky formulas. Some are simple and some are more complex, but people do more math than they ever thought they would.

I have to disagree with that……..most retail people behind a cash register can only swipe a card. Asking them to count change is like throwing cryptonite to superman. That’s a fact because when I was at a Kwik Trip in Redwing this fall and attempted to reduce the amount of coin change that I was to receive, I gave the counter person a quarter to take the 25 cents of my transaction out of to eliminate the 75 cents that I was about to receive. The preppy college kid responded he could not do it because it was “already in the system”. I just about blew a gasket. Really had to bite my lip…math skills at it’s finest.

I have 2 echomaps that are linked together with a “data cable”. The units will share waypoints, tracks, routes etc. They will not share transducers only the GPS data. The data cable that garmin sells may work for you but you don’t really have to have the garmin data cable. All you need is a 2 wire 16 gauge connection between them. I used a shielded cable that you should be able to get at any electrical supply place. Just follow the instructions in your owners manual & it will work just fine sharing the GPS data.

If you want complete warrantied items go buy new at a operating store.

It was not marketed as used product. The product was damaged & should not have been on the shelf.

Finally before you give props to someone for volunteering their time, I’m pretty sure this is a Pro fulfilling an obligation to their sponsors.

You probably are 100% correct with that statement……..still no excuse whatsoever.

This is the best powder I have ever used. My Optima with 100 grains of BH209 & 250 grain SST’s is a tack driver. This stuff is easy to use & easy to clean.

Data sharing if you have another garmin installed. It will share waypoints.

Now where are the fish biting.

They are biting. You just have to get off the keyboard & on the water. LOL We had no problem last Sunday getting our legals. Actually had our 5 before 9:30 am. Then went on to catch a bunch more.

CVA builds a very good gun. I have an Optima that was bought with the scope as a package from Scheels. I changed the breech plug to the one specifically designed to shoot the BH209 powder. The gun shoots MOA using 100 grains of BH209 & a 250 grain Hornady SST bullet. When I moved from WI to MN, the WI law allowed scoped muzzleloaders. Double check your regs. I use the scoped Optima during the MN slug season & would not hesitate taking a 100 to 150 yard shot if the conditions were correct. I also have a CVA buckhorn that I use for the MN muzzleloader season as I did not want to touch a good combination the Optima is delivering. I did change the open sights on the Buckhorn to a Williams peep sight and also changed the breechplug to use BH209 & feel confident in shooting up to 75 yards with the BH209/Hornady 250gr SST combo. One thing with the BH209 is that you clean it with normal solvents. I can shoot 7-10 rounds without cleaning or affecting accuracy. You need to test your combination as your mileage may vary. I would highly suggest that you look into the BH209 powder, it’s very good powder & is user friendly.

No mapping from any vendor is perfect. Rivers change all the time. The quick draw feature takes mapping problems out of play. Just invest some time & it doesn’t get any better.
