Start at the stern (back) of your boat and measure a spot 10′ up on your side rail. Mark this spot with a sharpie or if you don’t want to mark the side rail, put a small piece of duct tape.

Put the bait in the water with your rod tip touching the stern. Open your bail as you move your rod tip to touch the 10′ mark. You now have 10′ of line out. Stop the line from coming out and move your rod tip back to the stern and repeat as necessary until you have the desired amount of line out.

This is a simple thing to do in practice, maybe not as easy to type out. Hopefully this makes sense!! I do this all the time when we go to Canada and need to limit the number of rods and reels making the trip.

Thanks guys! We are staying at Northumbrean too. The owner seems really friendly and the location can’t be beat. Do you have any suggestions or tips for staying in that area? You can PM if you want to keep it private.

I’ve tried the power button and I’ve also tried the brightness settings in the menu. Same results. Works fine on everyother brightness setting.

Didn’t make it up until Sunday night at 8, but had a good night. Found a nice little trolling run on West and caught a 25, 20, and three just under 17. Also had a decent pike mixed in. Fished til midnight. Pretty much had the lake to ourselves.

On a drive by on Hwy 71 this morning…West Okoboji was as open as far as I could see. East Okoboji was frozen over as far as I could see except for a flock of geese keeping water open on the northwest shore. Minnewashta was frozen over except for some geese keeping a spot open. No report on Spirit, didn’t get by there.

I have done this for a gas company as a summer job in high school. We just brushed them with a wire brush and applied the paint with a roller.

Back with the tailgate down and look out the back window if you lose sight of the trailer

Is there a link to any info to confirm that us out of staters don’t need a fish house license. I have checked the online regs, and I’m either missing it or overlooking something. THanks!

I agree with Slider. There are two sides to every story. I don’t doubt them going close to other boats while on plane, but there must have been a reason for it.

What amount is the discount for employees? Does it vary from item to item?

    http://www.anywho.com

Only bad thing is you can only search one state at a time so takes a little while. We use this at work alot.

I use one set of rope lights in my Fishtrap Pro. Plenty of light to see what’s going on while fishing. When I have a fish on, I flip on the headlamp for extra light to land the fish and rebait.

We make Poor Man’s Lobster every year when we fish in Canada. Best way to eat Northern in my opinion. Our recipe is a little easier. Fill a pan 1/2 full of 7-UP and heat to just about boiling. Put cut up chunks of Pike into 7-UP until bright white and flake with fork. Dip in melted butter.

By Templar, do you mean the lagoon? What’s the main lake looking like as far as ice conditions. Heading up on Monday if conditions are right.
