It’s illegal to shine deer, but you sure as heck can have a flashlight in your backpack. Having one doesn’t suggest that you’re up to no good.

Just for clarification it is only illegal if you have a weapon in possesion or are outside legal shooting hours/dates. Shining deer is a fun pastime my dad taught us. Unfortunately everyone thinks your poaching nowadays which sucks.

I was going to bring that up but I had already got ridiculed enough earlier.

I’ve seen lot’s of people doing that…..sitting with the door open and the marcum mounted to the dash…..

I don’t know about a marcum on the dash, but I know I’ve had a vexilar on the floor of my truck, fishing out the door on the ice. If you wanna waste your time cutting holes in your truck for a marcum…..go ahead I guess.

I think they mean if you’re using your truck for shelter, like sitting in it or somehting.

    A little off point-
How do you discern a portable from a permanent shack? If it’s canvas and you leave it set up all season is it permanent? I just know that some people’s portable shacks have wood walls and things like that.

That was my obvious thought on why you wouldn’t be able to use them (Babe Winkelman) but I just assumed with the way laws are made, the state wouldn’t have given you enough rope to hang yourself. I.E. I have an open beer in my truck, but I’m not drinking it, I swear officer…..that sort of thing.

Not saying that everyone would use radios for poaching/unethical hunting, but it just seems like something that they would illegalize to stop the hassle on the DNR.

Not that I know much about it, and not trying to get anyone in trouble….but isn’t it illegal to have 2 ways in the field when hunting deer? Could be wrong, but I thought I heard that once……

The last one I picked up had 12 pages of articles and about 40-50 pages of ads. Hows this one stack up???

    Good Call.
It seems like these things are always packed with ads, and then you get to the “What’s New” section and it’s all reviews on the ads you just passed. I wouldn’t be surprised if Aqua Vu pays for the whole magazine to be made. Every year I get stoked at the free DVD that comes with the mag, but then I get it and remember that it’s just a 30 minute Aqua Vu commercial.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still worth the 5 bucks, with the articles that it does have, but it makes you wonder how many of those articles are written because of checks from sponsors.

when I hear people pizz-whining about a yearly license that is under 40 bucks(after an increase) it boggles my mind.
Over $100 for a 10-day pheasant hunt in SD is only $10/day. Lets do the same here – sell non-res fishing licences in ten day blocks for $100 – and let people buy as many as they want……

Taller fence or a shock collar. I don’t know how much time you have, but the age old way of fixing this problem is discipline.

feedback, I don’t buy anything over 20 bucks if the seller doesn’t have at least 20 positives, and if there are any negatives, there better be a good reason for them. The other thing to check with feedback, is how long they have been a registered user. If they have 20 positive feedback over a year or more, ok. But, if they have 20 positive feedback over a period of less than 2 months and they’ve been selling 2 dollar items, be wary.

I think it’s looking down the hole when you ice fish, at least that’s what I’ve heard. I just thought that’s how everybody ice fished when I figured out how to do it. I just keep all the windows closed in my shack and drill 4 holes, drop your line down the farthest away hole and look at your jig through the closest one, fish bites and wham, redneck aqua vu.

That’s pretty sweet that they’re selling reconditioned stuff with a warranty. Some of that stuff is knocked off about a hundred bucks or more.

The one thing I hear a lot about on the topic of “which shack to get” is buying the best that you can get for the smallest amount of money, which is obviously the way to go. I have a shack I bought from Menard’s 6 years ago, I’ve used it at least 3 times a week every winter and it works great, never had a problem with it, and as far as it seems, I’m going to be using it for at least that much longer. Think I paid about 150 bucks brand new.
All I’m trying to say is, you don’t need to spend 469 bucks or more for a good shack unless you want all the bells and whistles and whatnot. I just bought a pick up for 500 bucks, I don’t think I’m gonna be shelling out that much money for a new shack. Just my 2 cents.
    Good luck with the search.

Thanks for all of the help and the welcome notes. I have looked at the stone legacy one, that seems good. That Croxton Pond case that Rod-Man suggested seems nice. I was going to get a clam chair last year, but I have seating in my shack so that would be a little much for me. I also carry a lot of crap, so I’ll probably go with one of those. Thanks a lot fellas!

Dec 16th. (Sorry, just trying to be honest) Wouldn’t mind a little closer to halloween though.
