replys to both questions… not a lot of grey on the buck’s head but had a long muzzle, i am absolutely no expert but guessing 4 1/2 or 5 1/2… and yes gross scored as typical, looking at close to 13 inches of deductions or so… thanks to all also for the responses…

well finally got onto the computer and figured i could prolly help in the pics department and storyline… as Eric already mentioned 14 scorable points, grossed 189 5/16,and dressed at 200 lbs. although my facial espression may not show it (not a picture person i guess) i am absolutely glowing to say the least… shot on public land… now a bit of the story… against my better judgement i was antsy to try somthing new as it was still early in the morning and i had success early in the week rattling, telling myself it was too late to do so cause the bucks would have somthing else on thier mind i let out a couple sequences, within a min. i had a spike come from in front of me (not too sure what he was thinking) as he continued past i could hear deep grunts behind me, looking back there was a small ten standing on the other side of a thicket looking for trouble.. short story he eventually left and on my first glance back ahead of me i caught a glimpse of yet another deer, not knowing size besides the body i grabbed the grunt tube and started a series, before i was done the buck turned and started straight at me… it wasn’t until he hit the 50 yd range that i noticed just how big he really was and he kept getting bigger…. those who know me, know that me and keeping composure dont go well together with deer, shaking and freaking out literally, i drew as he crossed behind a tree and he closed to 10 yds… amazingly the arrow was true and the buck went 60 yds before making the distinct “crash”… heres a few of the better pics.. although the one is not a great background i felt it showed his swooping beams and knot holes a bit better than others…

SSMay 27, 2005 at 4:44 pm #365179I play for elk mound I am a freshman but I start on varsity. I’m playing tonight at altoona.
May 26, 2005 at 5:02 pm #365027I wouldn’t go for it. my dad used to as a kid and used to bomb the trout but now someone put a whole pile of northerns in there and are wiping the trout right out so now most are up in the crick. Out of the 6 years I have fished there IN the lake I have only caught about 4 or 5 pretty much on worms or rapalas. other than that I wouldn’t make a trip out to the lake to go just for trout I would definatley go in the creek. Tonight 5/26 after baseball practice a couple buddies and me are going to fish for bass and shoot some carp with our bows. so hopefully we’ll have a blast like old elk lake always gives us. on the crick now I would go next to dodge taxidermy if you know where it is. the closest little truck parking area is where we are catching the trout I would go down crick from the little bridge then work back up. The bridge has a nice hole below I might do some worming in there. But we are using mostly worms and mepps. the darker colors seem to be more effective
good luck!
Shore ShinerApril 5, 2005 at 4:15 pm #354953heck on 4/3/05 sunday night I took up the blind to some nearby woods that I new had some turkeys well got up there I kicked out three hens. Then I got a gobbler to go at it nonstop for about ten minutes. that was awesome Even though he didn’t come to were I could see him he roosted in a tree about 100 yrds. away. I had two squirrels come within a couple feet of the blind. and that was about it it was awesome to see this this early

shore shinerJanuary 22, 2005 at 7:26 pm #338062yeah I’ve seen them in gander but never did get one. I sometimes take 4-5 of my squirrel tails and tie them to a stick but I guess I just haven’t had the luck of seeing a coyote to tell if they really react to them or not.
