Battery Charger is sold. I took a lot more pics of the trolling motor if anyone is interested. Thanks!
Got pointed out to me that the charger is not a digital. It is the analog version. Still a three stage charger just monitors the batteries a little different. Asking $150 for that. Sorry for the mistake!
Sorry for the double post! Didn’t mean for the plastics pic to be there and well using the back button only made it worse.
I am not really sure. Where do these tournament go out of, Alma? I assume pool 5 and 5A is where these kind of fish are coming from. Great sacks of fish but seems bigger then the kind of weights that generally win on 4. Am I wrong?
I tend to agree about Ebay. I’ve never really found very much for cheap. Most of it ends up going for around retail, IMHO!
I buy a lot from these three, nothing against Bass Pro, Cabelas and the rest but I like:
buyfishingstuff
tacklewarehouse
jannsnetcraft
If you’ve never checked out Jann’s they have all sorts of small parts for building baits or upgrading components. Really cool stuff!
Allow me first to say to Chriss, I’ve had to golf with you for a day and you my friend may have been a golf professional but you are NO golf PRO!!!! LOL Just giving you a bad time! Chriss can hit that stupid white ball a mile and actually know where it is going! Best golfer I’ve ever golfed with!
As far as the classic goes I think the issue I would have is the electronics. One brand vs another, then the foot pedal of the trolling motor. I have a recessed petal, (I know they do in the Triton BUT) if you gave me a boat without one I’d go crazy! How about running with or without a hot foot. How about how you organize your office. What if for the biggest meeting of your life I made you switch offices then said, go get em!
I like IKE, there I said it, I agree with him! I think he was willing to say what others have felt for years! I’ll never get to the classic but if I did, I’d be lost in a new boat!
Ok I’m asking here, don’t you have to have six guys that also want to do it and don’t they have to pay dues and don’t they have to organize tournaments and all that stuff. If there is a way that I can pay my $150 and fish for the 12 spots then I’m in but don’t know if I have 5 buddies that want to do the same and be committed to a club for a year????
Just asking please explain more details.
Natureboy,
The whole area of Table Rock is really fun and different to fish. My dad lives in KC so I’ve fished all the MO lakes. What guys said above is right, The Rock can be nasty tough fishing at times but I’ve also had some pretty good days. Ask around at all the bait shops, the few times I’ve fished the lake the bite is usually going either up the James (dirtiest water in the whole lake) or White (cleaner then the James) if you want to fish a little shallower (10ft is shallow) or if you want a fun challenge go down by the dam and fish bluff walls and points in 40 ft of water.
As far as the other thing, like above Kim City is the ONLY place to go. Here is my two cents on Branson, if you want to feel young like the day you were born young, hang out in Branson, MO. When I was in Branson I think the youngest person besides myself on the street was 95! When I was there I couldn’t get over how many buses of retired people were roaming the streets. For that reason, not the best place to “view” the young ladies or drink a beer. Stay in Kim City! Just my two cents I am sure some of the shows are nice but just seemed too much like a retirement village for taste.
Deafboy,
I asked that exact question at the NW Sport Show last year and I was told that the quick change plate is great for smaller trolling motor of less physical weight but when you get the Max 74 or above it tends to not do the trick. So if you have a smaller boat and a smaller trolling motor from what the rep told me it would work great. Big stuff tends to bust up the plate in rough water. Hope this helps. Not my opinion, someone from the Minnkota booth at the NW Sports Show.
Willie,
You lost me, what does the 5 horizontal inches mean? You clearly have a better knowledge of the mount process than I do. Please explain? I am very curious, I’ve never heard anything about what you are saying.
Thanks in advance!
Sly,
I am not sure that I want to do this but here goes, do yourself a favor and check out the Humminbird 787c. It is a combo like you are looking for.
I am the first to say that Humminbird didn’t hold up to the Lowrance units a few years back. When Minnkota bought them, all has changed!!!!! That screen on the 787c is second to none, I’ve fished with several Lowrance color units in the past year from other people’s boats and they are very nice. Lowrance makes a nice unit BUT, BUT, BUT, I’ll take my 787c any day of the week! I can have direct sunlight on the screen and still see it from an angle. I just haven’t seen a Lowrance that you can do that with. I am sure they make them and I know that most guys on this site are Lowrance guys but I’ll stand alone and say the impossible, right now for under a $1,000 Humminbird is the best. There I said it, let the attacks begin! Yes Lowrance guys, I know, I know Lowrance out sells Humminbird in high end units. That doesn’t make them better.
As far as the chip goes, I’ve got the 06 chip and it has a Hotspots map of pool 4 but nothing for 5 or 5a. I got the chip mid summer and never got a chance to fish any further south.
Hope that helps, just my two cents, now let the Lowrance guys tear me apart. But before you hang me, please understand I think Lowrance makes a nice unit. I think the Lowrance products are just fine if that is what you want to buy, but please understand that just like the boat debate of who’s is the best, some people might disagree.
aWelter23,
I think what might be occurring is that you are using the drop shot in higher current areas on the river. I use mine a lot on pool 4 on Pepin but in traditional river situations you need to find slower deeper holes to use the drop shot in. Just my two cents. I admit I have not used it much on the river but when you find just the right situation is can be as good as anything. But whenever faced with normal summer current or more I go to something else that is more traditional bottom stuff. In heavy current it seems like the drop shot gets moved around to much and isn’t as effective.
I notice you live in Madison if so try it on the chain. I have used it a lot there and had great success with it. Just follow your weedline and you will catch fish. Perhaps not as big as usual but it is a finesse rig that generally doesn’t catch the size of a traditional heavy jig or crank will. Not to say I haven’t caught nice fish because I have but not as regular as the power options.
But don’t worry you don’t suck on the river with the drop shot. It just isn’t the best tech. for current. Just my humble opinion.
Always, always use Gamakatsu Drop Shot hook, usually in size 2 or 4. Why the small size? I nose hook the bait and the smaller the hook the harder it is for them to throw it.
As far as weights go, like above usually the round style, 95% of time 3/16 but will move up or down as wind/current demands.
My leader is usually 8 to 18 inches. Usually start around a foot and go from there.
Steve,
I went with Amazon Tours and they seemed to do a very good job handling everything. We were on the Rio Negro River. For our trip we felt the fishing was good but according to the guides and the other people on the boat the fishing was off due to the unusually high water last year. We caught about 10 – 15 fish a day per boat, (2 guys and a guide who doesn’t fish) with one each day over 10lbs. We were plenty fine with that since I don’t know if I have the arm strength to fight 20 fish a day by myself. They take everything out of you, it is just great!
First trip???? Feel free to pm me for more information, I would encourage any bass fisherman that is serious about the best fresh water fight in the world to pack his bags!
For my usage here is my line up:
Falcon CARA CS-4-169 Dropshot rod
Okuma Epixor 30 reel
6lb Sunline Fluorocarbon (sub any line just my two cents is Fluoro is a must because of feel and stretch not clarity. That helps but the lack of stretch is the biggest thing.)
Size 1 or 2 Gamakatsu Drop shot hook
ALWAYS A 3/16OZ drop shot weight
Plastics:
4.5″ Robo Worms
4″ Drop Shot Worm from Chompers
4″ and 5″ Gander Mountian Trick Sticks (Wacky Style)
Any other small plastics rigged either nose style or wacky depending on my mood.
Lakes have been best, only a few select times have I got it to work very well in the river. Any where you would fish a carolina rig fish a drop shot, you don’t have to fish it vertical, feel free to cast!
Biggest thing: learn exactly what that 3/16oz weight feels like, because very rarely do you feel them eat the bait they are just dead weight on the end of the line.
MY TWO CENTS!
Luke, the reason that the SD looks so much like the SPRO Bronzeye is because Andre Moore got a look at Rojas frog before it got released to the public. The SPRO frog also has Gamakatsu hooks on it in fact my understanding is SPRO is owned by Gamakatsu. If not they are closly tied, all SPRO baits come with Gamie hooks on them.
He is right that is the rainforest yellow from SPRO. Either the jungle frog or the Bronzeye. Either way that is a SPRO product hanging out of that fish! Slop I think we caught you trying to hide your favorite bait!!!!!! Most likely an honest mistake but shame on you for trying to pull one over on us.
On a serious note the SPRO frog is incredible!!!!! Similar to the Sumo but sits lower in the water and has a little better hooks, IMHO! Either one is a great bait but on the earlier subject try a high end frog like SPRO or Sumo your hook ups will be much improved.
Here’s my two cents, I have usually been able to find them on main to secondary river points (depending on water level) with some slack water on them. Goes to what Jeremy said, usually has some deeper water close by and what I have found also current close by. I have usually found my best sucess on the “seams” between the current and slack water. I feel they are on there way back to the regular summer haunts but of course some end up staying put and you can find them on main river points thru-out the summer months. Adding to what Jeremy said, the best points are leading into flats that would be good for spawning.
Now as far as baits go, I got my eyes opened to the power of a pop’r last year! I saw days were those post spawn fish hit that thing all day long even on blue bird days. Now I know that we have all read that in Bassmaster but until last year I never saw it actually work.
I had a little different take, I felt it was an attempt to NOT show the other wraps. I am not really sure, what does Ish’s wrap look like? How about Roumbanis (spelling?)? The only ones I saw were Hackney, Oh by the way Toyota sponsors the tour, and KVD, OH that is right Bass Pro is a major sponsor as well. I felt the Flag wrap was really cool but was over done in an attempt to not show other wraps that go against the main sponsors. What was the point to making them wrap the boats if you aren’t going to let me see them?
Waterfowler99,
Check out websites from MI and OH. Everyone is using the Right Bite Heads that Zona is pushing. They have Gamakatsu hooks and appear to be the choice of the pros. I have several websites but I don’t think I can put them on here.
I will admit that I have thrown my comments about him out many times and I agree with the above I can’t stand him on Bass Center but any man that has won the US Open TWICE gets major respect from me! Rick Clunn has said many times that the US Open is the toughest tournament in the country to win.
I wish he would stick to fishing and stay off of Bass Center but as far as his fishing, from my point of view, he has earned the right to have bad days.
But it is still a lot of fun to throw jabs at him!
I don’t pretend to know him on a personal level but after meeting him this past Dec. I am not suprised at all the way he reacted. I ended up sharing a plane with him on the way back from Brazil. He was sitting close to me and everyone was discussing their trip. He was an extremely quite, reserved guy. I think he is even somewhat shy. Don’t get me wrong, he was very nice and I have nothing to say bad about him but he is just flat out reserved and quite!
Outkastconnor, I see your point and my girlfriend said the exact same thing, but once I explained his personality on the plane that day she understood. I think he is just one of those guys, kind of like a young George Cochran. Not to much gets him excited.
I see your point I would have lost my mind!
I took my public beating once this week so I have to question myself before I type this but here goes. First off for my end of things I am sorry, my temper got the best of me and that sometimes happens. I am not proud of what I said or how I did it but I was angry and for the most part still am but I realize I was wrong in my approach. I was very angry and lashed out. My point got lost in the personal attacks and for that I am sorry.
Now on the topic at hand, I know nothing of what was said nor do I even totally understand what JL is all about and I am on the site often. But having just had this happen to me perhaps the person or persons at hand lashed out over something different then you understand. Perhaps that person(s) are being misunderstood. Often on this and every website and in society in general there is violent and quick defense of “my team.” Before anything is totally understood or even the right questions are asked. I have seen this from my side and it isn’t always pretty. Ask the guys before this post goes to far. JL might end up being in the wrong. Perhaps! Perhaps these person(s) are just plain mean and are out to say bad things, consider both sides!
Just my two cents. I’ve been on the other side once.
Eronningen, wow! Maybe I did feel you got closer then you think, but the bottom line is you and your buddy scared my girlfriend and I half to death with that little stunt you pulled. Glad to hear you got a great laugh at my expense! Real Classy!!!! When the tables are reversed you might feel a bit different! I don’t know how fast you were going and I don’t care. You scared me to death! I would have gotten the number off the boat an reported it but before I could get calmed down enough and relaxed to think of it, you and your buddy were gone. Glad I gave you a nice laugh!
BC and Slopbass, maybe I should have stated I’m a bassfisherman as well, I run a bassboat! My point is that the fact that this was a bassfisherman IS the point! I have read your posts in the past and neither of you gentleman appear the type that would do this and neither am I. That being said we must govern those that do. So that in the future we can, as a group, repair our imagine to the general public. My point with the last line was if we are going to give them reason to look down on us then we live by our mistakes. Lets use our heads out there and we can all help make people understand that as a group we are people that love to fish and are good honest fisherman. Lets not allow those stupid few to wreck if for the rest of us. I respect both your views but we need to self govern our fellow bassfisherman.
