I was 16 when I bought my first bike. At 18 I did all of the planning for a buddy and I to ride our bikes to the Black Hills for 3 days. That bike taught me responsibility, independence, how to take care of myself. This was in 2007 so not ages ago.

Only you know your kid, but this can be a great thing for him or can be a financial burden or worse. Give him room to take responsibility himself but keep some guardrail up so he can’t get himself into trouble.

    Update:

J&J Marine came through. VST tank needle/float was bad. I got them the boat Wednesday, had a diagnosis Thursday morning, and the boat was done and lake tested by noon on Friday. Great guys. Great service. Just got done eating at Als Oasis and will be on the water tomorrow.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

I called 9 shops this morning. Got tired of the rejection and resigned myself to trying to fix it myself or trying to get an appointment next week in SD.

I put it on the hose in the driveway and couldn’t make it misfire. So, I took it to the lake where it misfired terribly. At my wits end I made one more call to J&J Marine in South Haven who told me to bring it by and they could look at it Wednesday. It’s in their hands now.

I’ll follow up when I have a resolution but I appreciate all of the good ideas you all have. Nice to have a community to lean on when needed.

The other things to take into consideration for both legality and insurance is that both trailers must not exceed the tow rating of the tow vehicle. Best way to do this is a CAT scale, but if you have an accident or claim the state and the insurance companies are going to use posted numbers.

This. We used to do the prime rib roast but switched to brisket last year and everyone seems to like it better. It’s also half the cost. Does take twice as long though.

Lund 1750 Tyee on a roller trailer. Just me and the wife most of the time so basically by myself when it comes to loading/unloading. With the Drotto it’s easy and painless, without it’s a nightmare. Boat will roll back off the trailer until it’s secured when loading so it’s either run the winch strap to the back of the trailer, hook there, and winch it all the way up by hand, get out with the motor in gear to hook up the winch line, or use the Drotto. Drotto clicks in without any drama and we’re out of the water less than 2 min after I back in. Must have item for me.

I started on an auto when I was that age and I remember being super embarrassed being the only guy who had to bend over and pick up my shells. I begged my dad to let me use the old pump he had. Once I had that I never looked back. I second all the posts suggesting an over/under but would throw in a vote for a good pump. I understand autoloaders are better in ever way, but if you can shoot well with a pump an autoloader will be even easier when you pick one up.

Ran my Traeger 780 30 hours this weekend with no trouble. Burned more pellets than usual, but that’s expected when it’s -10.
