Don’t forget the FORD Courier….now that was a truck to brag about! I shouldn’t laugh, it made Motor Trend’s list just as many times as the F350 Super Duty.

You guys complaining gonna give my boat lots of elbow space down on pool 4 this spring……..HUH???? Seriously now, I don’t want any of ya coming within casting distance of my boat, just go “somewhere else” and fish.
I wouldn’t have parked by you, but then I don’t like people either. I’m just saying there could be a million reasons they did that; anything from the poor guys don’t have any friends to just being stupid and lazy? It’s a big lake, like you say, maybe they were afraid to be out there all alone? Unfortunate, regardless…
Lip, I don’t think his problem is en route back to the truck, I think he’s getting stuck while he’s still on his stand. Or did I not read that right.
Cool! Is there two? Can’t quite make-out what that patch of fur is at the rear of the cat? Bobcats have short tails and this one looks weird. Is there two and one is facing away at the rear of the other? Regardless, that is an animal that ranks near the top of my list to get!
Sounds like this is a recurring problem? You need to do one of three things. 1. Move your stand closer to the direction they are coming from so you make contact with them sooner than dark. 2. Leave your stand earlier than they are showing up. 3. Shoot one of em, that will get the rest moving along nicely! Are you just starting to get down at quitting time and they show up? Or, are you waiting around longer than quitting time to see what shows up? If they continually show-up just as you are getting down then you need to move 100-200 yards closer so you make contact during legal shooting time.
I just heard the weatherman here in the cities blabbing about a “string of 40’s” being in our future….not sure if it will happen or not, but I have instructed Rootski to wax his boat just in case!
That has to be the darkest rack to ever come out of Iowa…if that’s where it’s from. Too bad about the main beam, cause that thing is incredible!
If I remember the story correctly, it went something like his buddy did that to him…they had been drinking. Go figure.
Well…is it a dog or a hot blonde? Don’t see the email you mentioned. If it’s a dog send me a PM. because I might be interested. Thanks.
In the Ely area the bucks have been shedding since Thanksgiving week. I watched three different bucks shed their antlers on one of Ely’s webcams in one morning. The second week of muzzleloader my uncle and I saw several bucks that had shed already. Seems very early for our area up there, as most years it’s not worth shed hunting until late Feb or into March. Not sure about the reason they are shedding so soon, but they are, and it would be good to get out and look for them.
I’ve always enjoyed and welcomed confrontation, so regardless of the politicians views I would probably jump in and try to help him out. I was always taught to use whatever advantage to make a friend of an enemy. I can’t think of a better way to reform the politician’s anti-gun stance than to save his life by using one. Having said that, I hope to hell it never happens!

Cool story Grifter,& thanks for sharing. Man I love watching, seeing, figurning them out and reading stories about deer.
Also look at the deers hind end and stomach. See how it comes up in the back. I would guess 2.5-3.5 and yes definitely hard to pass up.
Congrats Doral
Tiffany passes up deer like that because they “look” young! I wouldn’t care if that buck was in diapers with a rack like that…WOW!
So, if Minnesota was managed in the same way as Iowa how much difference would it make? To the average guy out there hunting, the issue isn’t not enough BIG bucks, the issue is ACCESS to them….that is what this state needs to work on. Sure, Iowa has some HUGE bucks, but they come with a HUGE price, too! Minnesota is different in the fact that we have A LOT of hunters, and those hunters want to go home with a deer, thus we are managed as a “numbers” state. One last thing, looking through the various websites and papers such as Outdoor News, and the trail cam photos many of you guys post on here, I would not be so quick to say Minnesota is lacking in the BIG BUCK department….there’s a lot of nice bucks here, just that the access to them is not readily available to the populus as a whole. Just my two cents…
This snow is awesome! It took the deer in the Ely area exactly 1 day after the last big snow to herd up. Last weekend I was seeing them in a recent clearcut and they were out in full force all day long. This weekend sounds even better with more snow and temperatures not above freezing….oh, and did I mention NOT ANOTHER SOUL IN THE WOODS! I got a feeling the Thompson is gonna roar real soon…
I don’t think the guy had to do the extended arm pose from 4′ back to make his buck look big….that thing is a HOG!!!
I have been using finger cots for years to cover the barrel of my rifle and muzzleloader. Basically they look like a tiny condom ( ) and they fit perfectly over the end of the barrel. I got a box of em from a lady that works at the post office…they use em so they can shuffle through all the letters faster without getting cuts. They have never affected the performance of the bullet hitting the intended target. My bet is the pressure blows the cot off before the bullet even gets to the end of the barrel! Try em, they work awesome!
Well, I hope nobody loses their right to bear arms. Having said that, was the ban on religion and politics lifted that was imposed on IDA last winter??? Just wondering, or was it lifted due to the emergence of In-depthoutdoors?
Nice, someone give me directions to Wadena County!!!
All nice deer, but you know what jumps out at me the most…..NO SNOW!!!!!!!!! I remember a time when opener always had snow, now we a more likely to have mosquitos.

All great suggestions…I think Lowrance should hire you in their product research and development department.

Wow, that last one has got some serious shoulders!
Sold by the pound? By who?
The land between the lakes down in Tennesee….more deer, hogs and wild turkey than you can imagine! All on the same license, beautiful scenery, great affordable accomadations and the locals are actually friendly to out-of-state hunters. Check it out!

For me, I would say what makes a “shooter” has come full-circle, an evolution that has taken nearly 30 years. I started out wanting to arrow any buck I could, antler size did not matter to me in 1978. Score never has mattered to me, I am more into mass, but now what provokes me to drop the hammer more than anything is my excitement and feelings at the moment. If I’m hunting from the ground and call in a spike in an exciting situation or am able to sneak up on a bedded 6 point, I am as likely to shoot it and be happy about it as I would if it was a world’s record. However, if the same deer just came ambling down the trail I probably would let it pass. I guess what makes a shooter for me is my emotions at the time.
