down here i would take about the third week in august mid week (TO AVOID ALL THE DARN BAJA’S) as the 7 to 10 lb fattened up channels are slamming shad! god i’m looking forward to that again. did i mention i hate snow?

I hear ya there jeff. pool 12 was so up and down this fall that I winterized the boats early and headed for the deer stand instead. Seems as soon as the river got to a decent level it went right back to being crazy again! 
Glad to see mn DNR is working with cats. i dont think Iowa “officials” even knows what a cat is, or if they do, they don’t acknowledge it

we caught a bunch of bait bullies two weeks ago from our bait pond. they were HUNGRY!!!
I’d run some seafoam in the gas to help clean up any build up that may have occurred while sitting. I actually run it all the time in all my marine engines. the directions are on the back of the can on how much to use.If your fuel tank is removable I’d dump the gas after that long and start with all new fuel as well.
if you fellas could hold that water back a little bit i’d appreciate it. Its killing my my fishing down here in the hawkeye state!

last summer was crap for us on pools 11 and 12. Between not getting out as much to just simply not finding and getting on the fish. The ones we did manage were small.I’m hoping we can up our catch rate dramatically this year. 
for me its the red winged blackbirds. Haven’t seen one yet but I sure hope they are getting closer!
we’ll know for certain about sept 1st.

I’m with these guys chad. However you are starting to worry me with the statement of “I am gonna act on this farly quickly I THINK”. Kinda starting to sound like a certain #4 buying a TV . I to agree with the other guys that the 25 horse is way underpowered once you get a couple of guys and gear in the boat. With it only being a 16 ft boat that console will eat up ALOT of floor space in a quick hurry. Once your in that boat fishing you’ll be cussing it out and tripping over it. just my .02. I to would be all over that lund and it looks to be in much better condition than the other one. That 40 4 stroke will keep you moving and im guessing is prolly about max motor rating for that boat .

Its funny you should say that as barta is on (another channel) as I write this. I can tolerate ike. Yeah he gets excited catching that perfect sized bait fish BUT tell me you havn’t whooped and hollered when you landed a good one when no one else was around or high fived your buddy after he got it netted it for you. I know i have done it both. Now barta I can’t stand!!! It gets REALLY old listening to him week in and week out telling the whole world how GREAT he is and just how much he thinks he knows. gees that guy drives me nuts.
